- Amid the continuing national debate about the Confederate flag, TV Land has pulled twice-daily reruns of “The Dukes of Hazzard” from its schedule.
- Although the cable channel hasn’t issued a statement explaining the decision, a spokesperson confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the episodes have been been removed. TVLine notes that reruns also appear to be missing from CMT’s schedule.
- In the comedy-drama, which originally aired from 1979 to 1985 on CBS, cousins Bo and Luke Duke famously raced around in the General Lee, a customized 1969 Dodge Charger emblazoned with the Confederate battle flag (and named in honor of Robert E. Lee).
- Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced last week that it will stop licensing die-cast toys and models of the General Lee that feature the stars and bars.
- Walmart, Sears, Amazon, eBay and Etsy have banned the sale of Confederate flag merchandise.
