  5. [OVERVIEW]
  6.
  7. * Average bulk lets it to take some hits from strong Pokémon.
  8. * Z-Celebrate allows it to be a potent cleaner during the mid- or late-game.
  9. * Good offensive typing in Grass / Poison.
  10. * Resists both Electric and Water, two relevant types in LC.
  11. * Suffers with the lack of Weather Ball, since it can't be used with Chlorophyll.
  12. * Is completely useless without boosts.
  13. * Is completely outclassed by Bellsprout as a sun sweeper.
  14. * Lacks setup opportunities against most of the Pokémon in the tier since it is weak to common types, like Psychic and Flying.
  15.

  28. Moves
  29. ========
  30.
  31. * Celebrate is Bulbasaur's way to get a +1 boost in all stats, but be careful, it can use it one time per battle.
  32. * Sludge Bomb is its main STAB, OHKOing or 2HKOing relevant Pokémon in the tier, such as Doduo and Vullaby.
  33. * Giga Drain gives Bulbasaur a reliable way of recovery against Water- and Ground-types.
  34. * Sleep Powder is useful against targets that are slower, but that won't give Bulbasaur a way to setup reliably.
  35. * However, Hidden Power Fire can be used instead Sleep Powder, as it gives Bulbasaur a way to defeat Pawniard and Ferroseed.
  36. * Synthesis can be used in the 4th slot to give Bulbasaur longevity, but Giga Drain provides it and Sleep Powder is usually better.
  37.
  38. Set Details
  39. ========
  40.
  41. * Celebrate is only available with Chlorophyll.
  42. * Normalium Z gives Celebrate the boosts, so it's the only viable item.
  43. * The EV spread with a Modest Nature allows Bulbasaur outspeed a good portion of the tier while hitting as hard as possible.
  44. * A Timid Nature can be used instead, as it outspeeds Nasty Plot Vullaby.
  45.
  46. Usage Tips
  47. ========
  48.
  49. * Try to find setup opportunities against passive or slower Pokémon, like Spritzee, Snubull or Timburr.
  50. * Avoid doing a setup when your opponent has a Pokémon that will eventually stop Bulbasaur, like Abra or Ferroseed (if it's lacking Hidden Power Fire).
  51. * Remember that Z-Celebrate can be used once per battle, so be careful and use it when Bulbasaur's checks are already KOed or weakened.
  52.
  53. Team Options
  54. ========
  55.
  56. * Rock-types are its best partners, as they can take strong hits from Flying- and Fire-types that may threaten Bulbasaur, like Vullaby and Ponyta, and they highly appreciate Bulbasaur's typing to deal with Water- and Ground-types.
  57. * Chinchou helps Bulbasaur against Flying-types, Ponyta, Magnemite.
  58. * Ponyta highly appreciates its typing to deal with Ground- and Water-types too, and in exchange it offers Bulbasaur a check to Pawniard and Ferroseed.
  59. * Trappers are invaluable teammates too. Digglet traps Steel- and Fire-types that may stop Bulbasaur's sweep, such as Magnemite and Ponyta, and Grimer-A traps Abra, that revenge kills Bulbasaur.
  60. * Mudbray helps Bulbasaur against Grimer-A and Ponyta while Bulbasaur is a relevant Water check.
  61. * Lastly, Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr help Bulbasaur against Steel-types.
  62.
  63. [STRATEGY COMMENTS]
  64. Other Options
  65. =============
  66.
  67. * Bulbasaur can be used as a sun wallbreaker, but it's usually outclassed by Bellsprout, that is stronger and has access to Weather Ball.
  68. * A defensive set with Eviolite may work, but it's outclassed by Foongus, that has a better movepool and Regenerator.
  69. * A set with Choice Scarf can be used, but Bulbasaur is terribly weak without boosts and it has very few coverage options.
  70.
  71. Checks and Counters
  72. ===================
  73. **Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Ponyta and Houndour are huge threats to Bulbasaur, since they are faster than it without the Z-Celebrate boosts. However, if Bulbasaur has Speed boosts, it can put them to sleep with Sleep Powder.
  74. **Flying-types**: Common Flying-types, such as Vullaby and Doduo, can threaten Bulbasaur with its powerful STABs. Sometimes they have Choice Scarf, so they can easily revenge kill it, even with a boost.
  75. **Bulky Steel-types**: Ferroseed, Pawniard and Magnemite can threaten Bulbasaur if it's not running Fire coverage, and some of them can take one hit or two from it, even if it's running Hidden Power Fire.
  76. **Focus Sash Abra**: Focus Sash Abra completely stops Bulbasaur's sweep, however Bulbasaur outspeeds it with one boost and uses Sleep Powder.
  77. **Grimer-A**: Grimer-A resists Bulbasaur's STABs and punish it with a powerful Gunk Shot
  78. **Strong attackers**: Pokémon such as Staryu, Pawniard and Gastly always force Bulbasaur to switch out, as they can OHKO it before or even after the setup.
