  1. >It's honestly going to just be some quick notes on what I thought on the issue so that I can review later
  2.
  3. I think that a lot of gaming industries are moving toward mobile games because of the development cost, time, and the amount of money that one can make off it.
  4.
  5. Currently, mobile games are on the rise because of many factors. One that I can think of that many people probably doesn't realize is that this... Rise, is exactly like the rise of computer games - because of advancement in the hardware for PCs, there were a lot of new games and it felt like technologies were advancing leaps and bounds (And it was).
  6.
  7. A lot of mobile games can be linked a bit to handheld consoles - they are both "I carry this thing around and I play on it, or I can sit at home and still play it", with similar traits. Convenience and the like, you know.
  8.
  9. But I think a lot of game companies from the PC side forget one of the most crucial thing about portable gaming: It should be a portable gaming experience, not a... Generic gaming experience.
  10.
  11. Controls on your phone etc aren't going to be as nice as it is on PC or on a console. That's a fact. Unless you can find some innovative ways to use the phone as a controller, it generally will just be a lesser experience. From the "crafting game as masterpiece" point of view, it's a shittier alternative.
  12.
  13. Gamers aren't happy because it's a shittier alternative, though a lot of gamers might not immediately know why they think that way.
  14.
  15. The game themselves might not be tailored to a portable experience. Things like pokemon are a prime example of a portable experience. You can save anywhere, battles are short, you can play while on transit and it won't take away from the experience like it would with games of another genre, as RPGs are turn-based and does not require reflex (Which goes down with people around you, not having the seat, etc). In fact, pokemon takes advantage of portability of handheld device and gave a generation the feeling of trading pokemons IRL, or battling with friends that's right over there - by bringing your device.
  16.
  17.
  18. Most modern mobile games fail on these aspects:
  19.
  20. 1. They are not actually games that are friendly to play while on the go. Diablo Immortal, for example, is one of those things. You can't... Just... Leave a dungeon run so that you can get off the bus or push through a crowd or buy food at a fast food place.
  21.
  22. 2. They are not taking advantage of handheld device. Most of them require internet connection (And microtransaction Kappa), and does not support ANY sort of local player interaction. The one glaring counterexample to this is Pokemon GO, which did a beautiful job of fostering community of players - despite its many flaws.
  23.
  24.
  25. tl;dr? Those modern mobile games shouldn't be made into mobile games. They are PC games in disguise as mobile games.
