  33. 02:21:17: Arina turns back to Robin. "Ignore the order for a moment. Do /you/ think you can keep Sabrina from being a problem? Do you think you /need/ to be grounded?"
  34. 02:21:34: johnh is visibly conflicted "More people are going to /die/ if we wait. I don't care what is going on, we need to go!"
  35. 02:21:51: <johnh> "If you can't pilot, fine, you can help on the ground, but we have to /GO/!"
  36. 02:22:45: <Robine> "no," Robin sounds ashamed, "she's stronger than me."
  37. 02:22:52: mary meanwhile looks outside and listen if she hears any noise outside
  38. 02:23:27: <Arina> "... okay. Then come with us, we'll still need help on the ground, and you're still part of the team, grounded or not."
  39. 02:23:45: <IcepickLobotomy> Mary: You can hear distant creaking and strange sounds as buildings warp and change, the crackle of static hangs in the air as well.
  40. 02:24:10: Robine falls silent and nods.
  41. 02:24:28: Arina nods. "Thank you. And sorry."
  42. 02:24:32: Arina starts moving to the door. "Okay, John, are our transport team awake?"
  43. 02:24:32: <mary> "We can talk while we move, and be prepared to deal with a enemy on foot."
  44. 02:25:17: <johnh> "I don't know, we can find out as we move."
  45. 02:27:10: Arina nods, moving at a reasonable clip that Mary can keep up with. Robin doesn't need the help, she's the goddamn Flash. "Okay, Mary, what was that about Lily? And /Yang/?" She sounds like a king just told their court jester was plotting against them.
  46. 02:28:27: <mary> "Yang was inside the dreamworld, in the uh, doorway tower? She seemed to have work for lilly already for a while. THey are trying to steal something called the guidestone and knew that we are the only ones that might stop yang right now. "
  47. 02:29:00: <Arina> "/Yang/?" She still seems stuck on this point.
  48. 02:29:00: <IcepickLobotomy> The hallways are empty, the lights out. Their dark and covered in shadow with patches of red light from the windows. The janitor is asleep, his mop and water having spilled over him.
  49. 02:29:47: <mary> "I said she was evil , buuut no no one listens to me."
  50. 02:31:31: <Arina> "... I'm not very sure about your methodology."
  51. 02:31:32: Arina has decided to assume that /someone/ is assisting Lily, whether or not it's actually Yang.
  52. 02:32:21: <mary> "The question is just , was it that or something else but I think she was thinking about that."
  53. 02:35:06: <Arina> "Okay, then this is going to get even more complicated." She shakes her head and keeps moving as fast as they can to the extraction team.
  54. 02:35:57: <IcepickLobotomy> You hear two gunshots outside. They echo ominously in the otherwise silent air.
  55. 02:37:11: Arina 's eyes widen and she quiets down, trying to move quickly but quietly. Granted she's not a ninja so there's only so well that works.
  56. 02:37:44: mary was looking around to make sure that her friends and the others where not in danger as they moved.
  57. 02:39:05: <IcepickLobotomy> You make it outside and to the rear parking lot where the transport team is. As you step closer however you realize something. The passenger windows of the two cars as splattered with blood. Both the drives are slumped dead in the driver seats, each the victim of a gunshot wound to the head.

  62. 02:40:01: johnh pauses for a second
  63. 02:40:24: <johnh> "Let's get them moved. I can drive us back."
  64. 02:41:16: mary looks around for yangs car.
  65. 02:41:53: <Arina> "... wait..." She looks around. "The... one who did this might still be here..."
  66. 02:44:39: <IcepickLobotomy> Mary: Well her car isn't in sight, but there are other lots and to be fair you're not sure what her car is exactly
  67. 02:44:49: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina: no sign of who did this, as far as you can tell
  68. 02:46:48: Arina swallows
  69. 02:47:50: <Arina> "... Okay. I... don't see anyone." She moves up to one of the cars, shivering heavily.
  70. 02:48:29: Arina opens the door, but freezes as it pops open."
  71. 02:52:53: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina: as you open the door the dead driver slups and falls onto the street. A streak of blood follows the motion of her head as she lands with a solid thud.

  74. 02:53:21: mary shivers as she sees the body drop and then after a moment pulls at him to get him away, and well place him as respectfull as she can.

  77. 02:54:58: johnh grabs Arina's shoulder "It's not going to be easy, but we have to move." John then begins moving the bodies
  78. 02:55:40: Arina shakes her head, slipping into the car seat and turning the key. "... okay. We need to get as many guns as we can find here, because we have someone we need to shoot on the way. Everyone else get in, I'll drive."
  79. 02:56:52: Robine quietly gets in
  80. 02:57:19: johnh has his handgun drawn as he gets in the passenger's seat
  81. 02:58:27: <Arina> "Anything in the trunk, or that... they had?"
  82. 02:58:44: Arina pops the trunk so someone can check.
  83. 02:58:49: johnh goes to look
  84. 03:01:07: mary takes a moment to put her hand into the jacket as she tries to pull out the gun and then enter the car , aiming it downwards.

  91. 03:07:26: Arina nods, putting her foot on the pedal. "Just so everyone knows, I don't have a driver's license yet. So, uh. Buckle in."
  92. 03:09:45: <IcepickLobotomy> The car accelerates *hard* throwing anyone unprepared into the back of their seats. Turning onto the main roadway you have two choices. Go overland and make a straight-shot to the base, or head into the lower levels and take a more circuitous route.
  93. 03:10:58: Arina heads into the lower levels, Angel's less likely to see them down there.
  94. 03:12:04: <IcepickLobotomy> As the bloody sky submerges into view you have to slow down, as the dim red emergency lights are the only ones active, leaving the lower level as deeply dark and ominous as your headlights cut through the murky dark.
  95. 03:13:21: Arina moves at a pace that lets her see things in time, frowning. "Okay, so, Robin, I'd really rather not intrude on whatever's going on, but why does your evil split personality want to kill John?"
  96. 03:14:55: <Robine> "she tried to kill you?" Robin sounds startled and frightened at the idea.
  97. 03:15:16: <Arina> "Not me, very specifically John."
  98. 03:15:29: <Arina> "Oh, and, uh, sorry, I kind of stabbed her."
  99. 03:15:30: <Arina> "A lot."
  100. 03:15:40: <johnh> "She doesn't like getting shot in the face."
  101. 03:15:46: <Arina> "Though she got better, so don't worry. Or do."
  102. 03:15:53: <mary> "I don't have a idea, I did not saw her. And uh shoting. who wants the second gun?"
  103. 03:15:57: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina: And. . . that's when you find that the road is now the wall of a large chamber, with the ground and rest of the layer being "curved" around a sort of pronged emitter. A green bolt of energy streams across one set of prongs to another for a few moments, nearly blinding you with the light before it fades. Thankfully you manage to not panic and realize that gravity has shifted as well,...

  106. 03:16:37: johnh takes the other gun from Mary and holsters his own

  108. 03:18:42: <Arina> "Also I think maybe we should have taken the surface, though I'm not sure if it's any less messed-up..."

  110. 03:22:21: <IcepickLobotomy> The road curves around the cieling and then becomes a normal roadway once again. . . Though you can't shake the feeling that you're now upside down.
  111. 03:22:57: <Robine> "I don't know anything about her, except she has more control than I thought."
  112. 03:24:08: <Arina> "Mm. All right. Oh, and she's the one who has Lana, if you didn't already know that much."
  113. 03:24:13: <mary> "The coloration shows where it replaces the city with itself!
  114. 03:24:55: <Robine> "I know," she says, disappointed.
  115. 03:25:58: Arina holds out a hand. "Okay, Mary I'm not sure if we're falling /up/ now, but it's not sideways and things are stable for the /moment/, can I have that please?"
  116. 03:26:54: <johnh> "You really should focus on driving and let us handle the shooting."
  117. 03:27:32: <Arina> "Mm, yeah, I'll just take it when we arrive."
  118. 03:27:43: <Arina> "Anyway, Robin, the offer stands if the world doesn't end today and we both survive. If you need a hand with it, just ask."
  119. 03:27:51: Arina turns her attention back to the road.
  120. 03:29:40: <mary> "Drive joh n has the other one already. upper left!
  121. 03:31:17: <IcepickLobotomy> And at that moment somethign emerges from a alleyway, you slam onto the breaks but not fast enough. The car plows into it with a crunch, jolting everyone painfully in their seats.
  122. 03:31:40: <Arina> "... uh. Oh dear."
  123. 03:32:20: Arina looks out the window to see what she just roadkilled.
  124. 03:32:41: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina, Mary. You recognize that tan leathery skin, the thin needle like legs. A servitor, about the size of a cow. It's breath is labored, it's not dead yet but the twitching of the limbs is enough to tell you that it's not long for the world.
  125. 03:33:37: <johnh> "I don't know what it is, but it's not a person. Let's keep going."
  126. 03:33:55: Arina shuts the window, backs the car up, and runs over it again with the most speed she can build up.
  127. 03:34:06: <johnh> "I meant forward!"
  128. 03:34:39: Arina /then/ goes forward. "So when I mentioned skitterhounds, it's those things. We might also have Lucifer here, wonderful."
  129. 03:34:44: <IcepickLobotomy> it's quite dead, but the engine is now making some worrisome sounds. . . . Hopefully it will last you long enough to get to the base.
  130. 03:36:45: mary mutters a litanny of fucks
  131. 03:40:20: <IcepickLobotomy> JohnH: You're not sure what the fuck it is, black leathery skin with a skull-like face that;s a mix between a cow and a wolf. And it;s walking on the ceiling.
  132. 03:40:47: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina: YOu on the otherhand know exactly what it is, it's in front and above you, walking on the ceiling.
  133. 03:41:07: <johnh> "Yeah, this definitely seems satanic in nature. Just go, try not to hit anything. Mary, don't shoot unless we need to."
  134. 03:43:12: <Arina> "We need to, shoot him a lot while we go. I'm going full speed though."
  135. 03:43:37: <Arina> "Mary, Skinwalker up ahead and above. Many bullets please."
  136. 03:43:41: Arina hits the pedal.
  137. 03:44:00: <johnh> "Unless it comes after us, save ammo. We don't have a whole lot!"
  138. 03:44:22: <Arina> "That's the thing that killed Kasra, John."
  139. 03:44:35: <IcepickLobotomy> And that's when it drops from above and lands onto the front of the car in a crouch. There's no emotion on it's face but you get the sense that it is looking forward to what happens next.
  140. 03:44:36: <Arina> "At least use a few bullets so we know if they actually /work/."
  141. 03:44:50: <Arina> "Eh, I'll just run it over." FULL SPEED.
  142. 03:45:23: johnh immediately fires, through the windshield, at the creature
  143. 03:45:34: <mary> "There is a AHHHH!"
  144. 03:45:53: mary leans foreward and tries to fire
  145. 03:47:30: <IcepickLobotomy> JohnH: Sadly the windshield is bulletproof, you do however manage to crack it quite badly.
  146. 03:48:57: <IcepickLobotomy> Mary: You gun clicks several times. THe safety is on.
  147. 03:49:34: <johnh> "Damn their preparedness! And Mary, you have to turn the safety off if you're going to use it. Here, let me show you."
  148. 03:49:50: johnh goes through a /very/ brief tutorial on the safety and aiming of the handgun
  149. 03:50:07: Arina flinches away from the ricochet implanting a bullet into her seat next to her head and jolts the car to the curb, under an overhanging sunroof, and Skinwalker isn't quite crouching enough so it catches him at the neck and leaves him behind while they pass through and back on the road.

  151. 03:50:47: Arina looks back to see how much that actually slowed it down.

  153. 03:51:00: <mary> "I had a hour at a shoting range ."
  154. 03:51:13: <Arina> "Okay, so it's actually solid. That's both good and bad."
  155. 03:51:40: Arina turns away and accelerates to get the fuck away from it. "Also I'm rolling the windows down please nobody shoot at the windshield again it's /cramped/ in here."

  157. 03:53:41: <Arina> "At least, if you can hear me!" she yells, since it's a valid concern.
  158. 03:54:30: <mary> "I can't hear you, the gun shot was to loud!"
  159. 03:54:37: <IcepickLobotomy> It doesn't take too long for Arina to arrive at the entrance to the base, a gated security gate with spike strips poking up to stop unwanted cars. The security guards are asleep in their booth,
  160. 03:54:58: johnh climbs out of the car and runs up to the booth and bangs on the door
  161. 03:55:13: <johnh> before attempting to gainentry on his own
  162. 03:55:18: <IcepickLobotomy> No response.
  163. 03:55:50: Arina grabs one of the guns, rubbing at her ears. "Hopefully we can get it open, that's going to be a /long/ walk otherwise..."
  164. 03:55:50: <IcepickLobotomy> Past the gate is another gate leading into the base, the 2nd gate is open.
  165. 03:56:11: <Arina> "And it looks like Lily and Yang got in already."
  166. 03:56:13: johnh attempts to kick down the door
  167. 03:57:04: Robine gets out of the car and walks over to the booth.
  168. 03:57:59: Robine fiddles with the lock a bit before getting the booth open.
  169. 03:58:07: <IcepickLobotomy> RobinE: The lock isn't hard to jimmy open with a hairpin. Inside is a sleeping guard, a rifle, and a lever to open the front gate and lower the spike stripes
  170. 03:58:34: Robine flips the lever and grabs the rifle.
  171. 03:58:53: johnh goes in behind Robin and briefly attempts to wake the guard
  172. 03:59:01: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina: The front gate raises and the spikes lower, letting you move the car into the internal access tunnel
  173. 03:59:14: Robine returns to the car.
  174. 04:00:15: johnh comes out a moment later "They're not waking up anytime soon. Robin, let's trade. I can probably make better use of that." John offers up the spare handgun
  175. 04:00:40: Arina nods. "Good job, thanks." She re-accelerates once everyone's back in.
  176. 04:00:48: <Robine> "whatever," she swaps guns with him.
  177. 04:01:12: johnh turns the safety off and checks that its loaded
  178. 04:01:30: <mary> "Okay okay.. the guidestone, is that the thing on level 13?
  179. 04:01:44: <IcepickLobotomy> It's clear that something is very wrong inside the base. The hiss and crackly of static is stronger, and stranger sounds echo down the tunnel. Patches of shiny green metal are growing in patches like mold. The lights are out as well, save for the red emergency lighting.
  180. 04:03:20: Arina rubs her temples, moving ahead quickly. "Yeah. We'll have to keep an eye out, Lily's probably going straight for it, but her assistant might be waiting to guard her back."
  181. 04:03:43: <Arina> "And we cannot waste much time on this, the Angel is expanding /fast/."
  182. 04:05:46: <johnh> "Where are we going, then? To the outriders or to Lilly?"
  183. 04:06:04: <mary> "Based on what they said it is only yang there , and not lilly"
  184. 04:06:04: <IcepickLobotomy> THe ground shudders and something between a whale-song, a pig-squeal mixed with a tinny metallic note screams across the tunnel.
  185. 04:08:02: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina: A bulk-head door, closed, comes into sight. Next to it is another car, a sport blue convertible. There's a MAGI Terminal beside the door, above the code-pad.
  186. 04:08:15: <Arina> "Down either way, Outriders first."
  187. 04:08:26: <IcepickLobotomy> And what looks like a large crack in the wall near it, large enough for someone to squeeze through.
  188. 04:08:45: Arina comes to a halt, hopping out and moving up to the terminal. "MAGI, are you still conscious?"
  189. 04:09:59: Robine gets out and leans against the car.
  190. 04:10:55: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina: the terminal flickers to life
  191. 04:12:56: <IcepickLobotomy> [Automated Status Report. Case OBSIDIAN NIGHTMARE is in effect. All personal are unresponsive, INTRUDER on base, unauthorized person in Layer 7, MAGI offline. Self-Destruct failed to arm. Lock down is in effect. Any personal still active, facilitate reactivation of MAGI or else deploy all active units.]

  193. 04:13:26: johnh shouts back to Robin "You hear that? Deploy all active units."
  194. 04:14:54: Arina pats the terminal. "We're on the way." She looks for a selection on the specific route the person in Layer 7 is taking, and how to go about reactivating the MAGI.
  195. 04:15:26: Arina also checks if they can open the door so they can take the car in.
  196. 04:16:18: <IcepickLobotomy> Arina: They appear to be headed to Layer 13. AS for reactivating the MAGI, that would be done in their main chamber in Layer 13 as well. The door however is stuck fast due to the lock-down and you don't know the pass-code to open it.
  197. 04:18:31: Arina frowns. "Well, looks like we're going to Layer 13, because I have no idea how to get our Units to the surface without the MAGI." She moves to the gap in the door.
  198. 04:21:13: <IcepickLobotomy> RobinE: You try a few passcodes, after the third failure the system locks you out.
  199. 04:21:20: Robine wanders over to the key pad and makes some half hearted attempts at button sim.
  200. 04:24:25: <Robine> "Hey MAGI thing, got any door codes?"
  201. 04:24:33: <IcepickLobotomy> RobinE: the message loops
  202. 04:24:40: <Robine> "oh"
  203. 04:24:57: Robine wanders back over to the car."
  204. 04:24:57: Arina gestures to Robin. "Good try but we need to go now, come on."
  205. 04:25:41: Robine points at the crack, "through there?"
  206. 04:26:16: Arina shrugs. "Only way if we can't get the door open."
  207. 04:27:20: Robine sighs, "alright," she heads over.
  208. 04:27:44: <johnh> "I'll take point. Arina, you can direct, but I'll be up front, in case anything jumps us."
  209. 04:28:48: <johnh> "Robin, Mary, be ready. Safeties off."
  210. 04:29:17: <mary> "I am trying to rememebr if walker said something about the lookdown, but I might have a idea or two to get to level 13 a bit faster as we lack the elevators..
  211. 04:29:37: Robine makes sure her safety is off.
  212. 04:29:44: Arina nods, bringing her gun up and unsafetying it. "You're the trained soldier, John, I have no arguments."
  213. 04:30:16: <Arina> "Mary, anything you think of that'll help. The more speed the better."
  214. 04:31:56: <IcepickLobotomy> JohnH: it's a tight squeze, even with your body turned you still catch in the rock and tear your shirt, scrape your back and chest, in places.
  215. 04:32:19: <mary> "I remember where we can down on the time by using a old acess shaft that goes throught layer 9
  216. 04:34:00: Arina nods. "Well, it'll be a ways to get there, but every little bit helps, guide us once we're there." She squeezes through after John.
  217. 04:34:16: <johnh> "Tight squeeze. Careful ladies."
  218. 04:35:37: <IcepickLobotomy> The other side dros you onto a catwalk running along the length of one of the smaller maintenance tunnels. Following it forward will bring you into the base.
  219. 04:36:00: Robine makes her way through next.
  220. 04:36:09: <johnh> "Alright, Arina, your call."
  221. 04:38:04: Arina pats herself down. "Let's go, and keep an eye out once we get to the lower levels, Lily's assistant is going to be around and might decide to pause and go after us."
  222. 04:41:03: mary squeezes, and sqeeuzes , its urhg. to much chocolade.

  403. 07:12:21: Arina glances over her shoulder, keeping the car moving as fast as she can in this twisty alley as she tries to get ahead and back onto the straightaway. "The hell even is that...?"

The jeep lurches as the thing wraps a half-dozen tendrils onto the car, the engine screams as it drags the added weight. Tendrils snap and new ones take their place as the thing begins to pull itself closer.
  405. 07:14:34: Arina puts the pedal to the metal - at the least it's taking some damage trying to hang on. "Come on, come on..."
  406. 07:15:32: johnh squeezes the trigger, unloading every last bullet into the creature
  407. 07:15:44: <IcepickLobotomy> Mary: One of the tendrils wraps itself around your arm. It's not fleshy, it' cold like metal and it hurts as the thing feels like it's going to rip your hand off. You grab onto the jeep with your free arm, and it's only by the adrenaline that you're not ripped free immediately.
  408. 07:16:31: <IcepickLobotomy> And then John opens fire, blasting apart the front of the thing. Tendrils sever as a black gritty fluid splashes across Mary and RobinE, smelling of oil. The car lurches forward and takes off.
