Pokemon Adventure! 14-1

Narrator:
Team Oak had managed to do some shopping, acquire some new friends and Venec managed to get hit in the head with a Hoppip. It was later learned by Kia that the Hoppip belongs to Irian Joy. Team Oak, after a few distractions, have decided to rescue Irian! Welcome to the World of Pokémon!

Cepheus:
"Looks like that's everything..." Cepheus said when outside the pokemon Center. "We're all geared up to go. Ready to go, you two? We're meeting the others at the city gate."

Grace:
"Ready and willing!"

Cepheus:
"Let's go then."

Jupiter:
Jupiter whizzed a bit as the party headed off. This was gonna be good.

Grace:
"I'm ready for a Darkrai!"

Cepheus:
"I certainly hope you don't mean the syringe."
* Grace cracks her knuckles as she throws a few kicks to show the new attacks she learned.

Grace:
"No! The one that hurt Hoppip."

Jupiter:
(Ooh, scary!) he thought. (Grace means business!) Jupiter was secretly hoping that the Darkrai's head would blow up. That would be pretty cool.

Cepheus:
"Heh, excellent. Glad to see you're in the spirit."

Venec:
Venec returned his new companion Komiho and sent out Adena, it had been a while since she saw action.

Venec:
"Ah, Lucy. I found this egg, I thought it would be best for you to have it." Venec said as he handed over his Lucky Egg.
Andy:
Kia scratched the bottom of Artemis's chin as she waited for the others to finish up. "I hope Irina is okay. A disappearing mansion...I've never heard of such a thing."

Lucy:
"..."
* Lucy accepts the egg and looks down at it for a long moment.

Lucy:
"You're...giving this to me?"

Venec:
Venec nodded.
DNA:
Cepheus was surveying the scene from a short distance, noticing what Lucy's reactions were.

Venec:
"I hadn't heard of the mansion either. Funny how slow news goes through the forest even when you live there."

Lucy:
"Are...are you sure? They're pretty rare."

Venec:
"I found two. And I imagine the two of us are going to be working together for a good while, so it's hardly a loss of mine." Venec shrugged, it didn't seem to be that big of a deal for him

Venec:
As he walked Venec scanned the Purrloin to his side.

Lucy:
"Ah, alright." Lucy quickly pocketed the Lucky Egg.
Kaorin Sakura:
"Purrloin, the Devious Pokémon. Dark type. Its cute act is a ruse. When victims let down their guard, they find their items taken. It attacks with sharp claws."

Lucy:
"If I may, areas are often moved around by Pokémon and it doesn't always make sense."

Lucy:
"Some areas are only accessible when powerful Pokémon want it to be, or Humans find a way to force its appearance."

Lucy:
"The Distortion World is an example of this."

Cepheus:
"Distortion World? Where Giratina makes its home? You're saying it moves around, or it only appears to those it desires?"

Lucy:
"Scion managed to summon Giratina once to obtain its DNA, but ever since, the gateway has no longer been in Sinnoh. Giratina moved or closed the gate, somehow."

Cepheus:
"That explains why I was never able to find it..."

Lucy:
"You need the Griseous Orb or something similar to be able to unlock the gate, I believe."

Cepheus:
"...So they had this orb? How'd they even get it?"

Lucy:
"My mother."

Lucy:
"She, at one point, had all six Legendary Dragon orbs. Or spheres. I don't recall what they were referrenced as."

Cepheus:
"So your mother is tied up in this as well?"

Lucy:
"Not exactly."

Lucy:
"She hasn't shown interest in Scion since we extracted it's DNA and it went berserk and we were forced to push it back into the Distortion World. She stated that we've officially pissed it off and we'll be lucky if it doesn't return in a rage."

Lucy:
"Which is hasn't. It just closed itself off."

Lucy:
It*

Cepheus:
"....That makes sense..." Cepheus then retreated back to his thoughts for a bit.
DNA:
He...really wanted to stop them, no matter what it took. Angering one of the three dragon heralds of Sinnoh...to him, it was a terrible sin. He wouldn't let it go unpunished.

Lucy:
"...Y'know, we ASKED first."
DNA:
Cepheus winced a bit at that. He forgot, his thoughts weren't secret anymore.

Cepheus:
"Asked who? Giratina?"

Lucy:
"Yes."
DNA:
...He didn't respond, probably because he didn't know how.

Lucy:
"We asked for one of its scales. It took a while, but eventually nodded. As far as we knew, it understood us. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. Maybe something else happened we weren't aware of. But we didn't outright attack it or steal anything. We don't steal. We don't kidnap. If there aren't volunteers for the project, then that's that."

Cepheus:
"Then why'd it go mad?"

Lucy:
"We don't know. I was still Human so I don't have any insight."
Andy:
Kia frowned. "But apparently the company does kill."

Venec:
"Should we talk as we continue? It's going to be a ways to the forest I feel."

Cepheus:
"...good idea..."

Lucy:
"Yes, we kill, as long as its better in the long run."

Cepheus:
"...According to who?"

Lucy:
"According to numbers."
Andy:
During this whole time she had been quiet, but she couldn't keep that one comment to herself.

Cepheus:
"So you use numbers to justify murder?"

Lucy:
"If one murder saves thousands, then yes, that murder is viable."

Venec:
Venec continued to walk to the Route south of Pewter.

Lucy:
"Wait up!"
* Lucy follows closely behind Venec.

Cepheus:
"And how can you prove that a murder would save thousands?" Cepheus replied, trying to catch up with Venec.

Jupiter:
Jupiter thought he saw something in Lucy's reaction. A spark of emotion? Caring for Venec? He couldn't tell...

Lucy:
"You're smart. So I think you'l understand. Our project is sensative. Without proper care, the whole ecosystem would collapse."

Cepheus:
"How's the ecosystem factor in?"

Lucy:
"We don't truly even know the side effects fully or how much certain genes take over."
Andy:
Kia follows as well still quietly taking in everything.

Lucy:
"But, we have a few defects. Some that steal our work from the company and try to sell off the eggs on the market or introduce them into the wild."

Venec:
"And those are the eggs we keep finding?"
DNA:
(That'd explain why we even have some of those eggs in the first place...)

Lucy:
"Yes. To both of you."

Lucy:
"We're level headed. We ask for the materials back first. Whatever they were. Some even stole the syringes of genomes. And I don't think I need to explain how dangerous that is."
DNA:
(Why can't I go a day without my mind being read by someone...) he sighed to himself.

Cepheus:
"I think you've already demonstrated how dangerous it can be." He shot a glance backward at Grace.

Grace:
"Yeah, yeah. I learned my lesson."

Cepheus:
"How can you be so flippant about it?" he exclaimed with an outburst that surprised even himself.

Grace:
"Huh? It taught me a few things I needed to know and how to go about things. So, I learned my lesson."

Cepheus:
"All...all right," he replied. He took a deep breath and shook his head about a bit. He needed to calm down.

Venec:
Murder was not a justifiable act in Venec's mind. Although he knew Lucy must have had reasons, situational reasons that couldn't simply be explained away in a blanket sentence. Or maybe he just wanted it to be that way. Either way he'd just have to trust her reasons for now. Appart from her association with Scion she'd done nothing suspect since he'd met her. Venec could only pass judgement on something he saw with his own eyes.

Lucy:
"I've yet to kill anything but prey. By that, I mean small Pokémon for food, not Humans."

Lucy:
"How about this..."

Venec:
"And I think we've all done that." Venec replied to Lucy, forgetting he was the only one to grow up in the woods.

Lucy:
"We go save this Irian girl. When we get back to the Pokémon Center, I'll answer whatever questions anyone may have."

Grace:
"Can you teach me how to use attacks you know?"

Cepheus:
"Very well..." Cepheus replied reluctantly. It seemed to him, whenever one question was answered, two more would crop up in its place.

Lucy:
"...I thought you didn't want outside help for your own strength anymore?"

Venec:
Venec laughed, thankful the tension was broken by Grace.
DNA:
Except this had nothing to do with Hydreigon.

Venec:
"Friends are a part of personal strength."

Grace:
"Things like Darkrai genome I won't use, but teachers are teachers. You make me better by helping me better myself. Nothing wrong iwth that."

Lucy:
"I doubt I'm a good teacher for any moves I personally use but we could give it a shot if it's alright with Aoi."

Grace:
"Aoi?"

Lucy:
"Your trainer."

Cepheus:
"It means 'blue'."
* Grace suddenly had anger in her eyes.

Grace:
"SAN!"

Lucy:
"Err...sure. Sorry. Aoi-san."

Venec:
"THat's a woman's name you know.

Cepheus:
(Did I just bump up one step from -chan to -san?)

Cepheus:
"I wouldn't know. All I know is it means 'blue'...which I seem to have a lot of.

Lucy:
"To me. Saying it without an honorific means we're really close. I stepped on toes there."
Andy:
Kia tried not to laugh but couldn't help but to let out a small chuckle.

Grace:
"Right. And whether or not it's a man's or woman's name, it means blue. So, it kinda fits."

Cepheus:
"...Except my name is Cepheus."

Lucy:
"Why does everyone hate nicknames?"

Grace:
"Dunno. Humans often have long and odd to pronounce names too."
Cepheus:
"...I take pride in my name, thank you."

Grace:
"Well, I won't call you anything but Ceph-chan, so no worries."

Lucy:
"Ceph-san it is, then."
Cepheus:
(At least it's a start...) he thought.
Venec:
Venec tried to see if he still had Irian's trail

Lucy:
"The...Viridian Forest looks strange."

Grace:
"It does. Completely different."
Venec:
"It's a living place."
DNA:
He sighed a bit. He did like Grace, but he never believed that 'Cepheus' and '-chan' should be said in the same sentence...probably because their meanings were completely different.

Cepheus:
"It feels a bit more...vibrant than it did before, doesn't it?"

Lucy:
"It means she likes you and is close enough to you to use a cute notation with it."

Cepheus:
"...I know what it means..."

Lucy:
"Bigger. A lot more trees. A lot...wetter."

Cepheus:
"Wetter? Like a recent rainfall or something in the ground?"
Andy:
Kia looked around curiously. "To think it could change so much in such little time."
Kaorin Sakura:
You all notice that the place has a much higher humidity percentage and that the trees seemed taller and less wired like it was before. It smelled of fresh downpour.

Venec:
"It makes living here fun sometimes." Venec tried to get Irian's scent. « 1d20 = 12 » vs 15
You whisper to Venec_Myles: You pick up her scent immediately.

Cepheus:
"It probably rained here recently, I'm guessing. I can still smell the rain lingering in the air."
You whisper to Venec_Myles: South of you somewhere."

Cepheus:
"You think Adena should be staying out like this with all this moisture?"
Andy:
"I love this smell." Kia closed her eyes for a brief second too enjoy the fragrence.

Venec:
"this way everyone. Ah, she'll be fine."

Cepheus:
"All right, but if she gets tired, I have a backup plan.
Andy:
"and if your backup doesn't work, I have a backup as well."

Cepheus:
"I certainly hope my backup doesn't fail!"

Venec:
"Right. Anyone going to have a problem here?"

Cepheus:
"It doesn't look that steep, so I hope not..."

Grace:
"Gimme a second..."
DNA:
As if to show off, Jupiter sprinted ahead to brag that he could float.

Grace:
"Nope, I can only lift 135 pounds."

Lucy:
"...Me too."

Venec:
(How steep?)
Kaorin Sakura:
The drop is around 14 feet.

Cepheus:
"Ah well, nothing to it but to climb down carefully."

Venec:
Venec shrugged and climbed down, recalling and sending out Adena at the base of the hill as he did.

Lucy:
"Want me to just carry you down?"
Andy:
Kia looked down and scratched the back of her sheepishly. "I'll try to be careful."

Cepheus:
"Grace, you can slow my fall, so if I slip, I'll be counting on you."

Venec:
Climb: Str « 1d20+7 = 11 + 7 = 18 »
* Andy rolls: 1d20+2 => 16 + 2 = 18
* DNA rolls: 1d20+2 => 2 + 2 = 4
Kaorin Sakura:
Venec climsb down wihtout any issue.
Kaorin Sakura:
Kia climbs down just the same with Artemis just jumps down without a problem.

Grace:
"ah!"
* Kaorin Sakura rolls: 1d20+13 Save! => 1 + 13 = 14
* Grace suddenly grasps Cepheus with her telekinetic powers as he falls and slows him.
Kaorin Sakura:
Cepheus lands with an audible thump on his rear.

Cepheus:
"Thanks, Grace...for preventing me from falling flat on my face."

Venec:
Venec had rushed to catch him, but didn't quite make it.
* Grace floats herself down from the hill.

Jupiter:
Jupiter was giggling a bit.

Jupiter:
He thought it was customary for the guy to save the girl, but this was clearly the opposite.

Cepheus:
"Does...anyone really have any idea where we're going?"

Venec:
"Yes. This way."

Cepheus:
"All right."

Pansage:
"Rrrrr..."
Andy:
Kia spots the green little monkey and attempts to scan it. "Hello there.."

Lucy:
"Clearly hostile..."

Venec:
"Think it will let us around?
Kaorin Sakura:
"Pansage, the Grass Monkey Pokémon. Grass type. It shares the leaf on its head with weary-looking Pokémon. These leaves are known to relieve stress."

Venec:
Venec tried to see where Irian's trail went from here.

Lucy:
"Don't think so."
You whisper to Venec_Myles: Southeast.

Cepheus:
(It can clearly see the Flareon, so why does it even want to fight?)

Venec:
Venec followed the trail, not paying much attention ot the pokemon
* Kaorin Sakura rolls: 1d20 Leech Seed vs. Venec! => 4
* Pansage suddenly flings a seed at Venec but he avoids it without much thought.

Venec:
"Hey!"

Venec:
(Speed 8)
Andy:
Kia frowns as it attempts to attack Venec. "Agressive little thing.."

Cepheus:
"Ugh, we're going to have a fight? What a pity..."
Andy:

Kia has received initiative.
Andy:
"Artemis...help Venec out by using facade." She scratched the back of her head not exactly wanting to fight.
* Andy rolls: 1d20 => 14
* Andy rolls: 2d8+10+13 => 10 + 10 + 13 = 33

Kaorin Sakura:
Changing that?
* Andy rolls: 3d8+10+13 => 11 + 10 + 13 = 34

just typed in the wrong amount of dice

Pansage:
Pansage loses 29 hit points.
Andy:
Kia indesicively takes out a pokeball and throws it.
Kaorin Sakura:
Roll accuracy, I'll roll capture.
* Andy rolls: 1d20 => 19
Kaorin Sakura:
The Pokéball engulfs the Pansage in a swift clasping sound.
Kaorin Sakura:
Shake.
Kaorin Sakura:
Shake..
Kaorin Sakura:
Shake...
Kaorin Sakura:
Ka-ching!
Andy:
Kia gives a small smiles as the capture confirms. "I guess that solves that problem."
Kaorin Sakura:
The Pokéball disappears in a flash of bright light!

Venec:
Venec looked to the one at the edge of his vision, waiting to see what move it would make

Cepheus:
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean that Pansage is the only one."
Cepheus has received initiative.
Andy:
"That is true." Kia loooks around still curious as to why it was so angry in the first place.

Venec:
"I'd stay back from that one."

Lucy:
"Territory."

Cepheus:
"But do we or don't we need to go this way?"

Lucy:
"They can't see in the dark, Venec."
Andy:
"Ahh I suppose that does make sense."

Venec:
"Huh?" Venec blinked, "Well I can't see well either."
Kaorin Sakura:
It's Cepheus' turn,

Cepheus:
"If this is the way we need to go, we might very well have to take care of what's in our way."

Cepheus:
"And I can see another Pansage from here. Grace, hit it with Signal Beam."
* DNA rolls: 1d20 => 5
* DNA rolls: 3d10+12+14 => 21 + 12 + 14 = 47

Pansage 2:
Pansage 2 loses 76 hit points.

Pansage 2:
"Rrrahgha!!"

Cepheus:
"Nicely done, Grace."
* Pansage 2 is knocked severely unconscious.

Jupiter:
That was odd. He thought Cepheus didn't like fighting. Maybe boss-man was just really out of it today or something.
Pansage 3 has received initiative.
* Kaorin Sakura rolls: 1d20 Vine Whip vs. Grace! => 17
* Kaorin Sakura rolls: 1d12+6+9+5 Grass damage. => 5 + 6 + 9 + 5 = 25
Kaorin Sakura:
A green whip-like tenticle comes flying in from the east and smacks into Grace's face.
Venec has received initiative.

Grace:
Grace loses 16 hit points.

Venec:
Venec sends out Yue!

Venec:
Ponyta used Flame Wheel!

Venec:
« 1d20 = 19 »

Venec:
Burns!

Venec:
« 2d10+8+3+9+12 = 13 + 8 + 3 + 9 + 12 = 45 » Physical Fire!

Pansage 3:
Pansage 3 loses 80 hit points.
* Pansage 3 is pummeled into the Earth by a flaming horse.

Venec:
"Thadda girl!"
Venec has received initiative.
Pansage 4 has received initiative.
* Kaorin Sakura rolls: 1d20 Flee! => 6
* Pansage 3 fails to flee combat.
* Pansage 4 fails to flee combat.
Kia has received initiative.
Andy:
Kia decided to summon Storm.
Andy:
"Hmm...maybe they aree gone?" She moves up a little bit.(pass)
Cepheus has received initiative.
DNA:
"Time to keep pressing forward..." he said, moving upward a bit.
DNA:
"hmm, still don't see anything. Jupiter, try and catch up a bit, will you?"
Venec has received initiative.

Jupiter:

Kaorin Sakura:
Jupiter can't move since Grace did.

Jupiter:
i knooooooooow ;_;

Venec:
Ember!

Venec:

Venec:
« 1d12+6+3+9+12 = 12 + 6 + 3 + 9 + 12 = 42 » Special Fire

Pansage 4:
Pansage 4 loses 66 hit points.
* Pansage 4 is set on fire and falls unconscious.

Venec:
"Is that all of them?
Kaorin Sakura:
Calculating spoils.

Jupiter:
I'm not gonna get anything ;_;

Venec:
Venec gathers the fallen Pansage and hides them in the cluster of trees to the south for their safety.
Andy:
Kia looks around and decides to return Artemis for the time being. It was nice having some extra light out.
DNA:
Jupiter finally decided to catch up with the rest, not wanting to be left behind.

Cepheus:
"Grace, you okay?"

Grace:
"Sure am."

Cepheus:
"Excellent. Shall we keep going?"

Grace:
"To Irian!"

Cepheus:
"Venec, you still have the scent? Lead the way."

Cepheus:
"Oh dear, not another ledge..."

Venec:
Venec returned and sent out Yue at the bottom once again before decending downward.

Jupiter:

Venec:
Str « 1d20+7 = 8 + 7 = 15 »

Cepheus:
"Show-off!"
Kaorin Sakura:
Both Lucy and Grace float downward.
* DNA rolls: 1d20+2 => 11 + 2 = 13
Kaorin Sakura:
Venec makes it down without issue.
Andy:
Kia looked nervously down and took a clue from Venec both returning and resending Storm out at the bottom

Venec:
"I can catch you if you want!"
Kaorin Sakura:
Cepheus makes it down without issue.

Cepheus:
"Thanks very much. I'm okay, though."
* Andy rolls: 1d20+2 => 9 + 2 = 11
Kaorin Sakura:
Kia makes it down without issue.

Venec:
Venec made sure he was there to land on, just in case.
Andy:
"Thanks Venec but I got this!" Kia was excited that she hadn't tripped yet.

Venec:
"this isn't right..." Venec tried to track again. « 1d20 = 13 » vs 15
You whisper to Venec_Myles: still southeast.

Cepheus:
"Is the tracking trying to lead you through some trees?"

Venec:
"Yeah. We'll have to go around though, we're not going to climb through this easily."

Cepheus:
"You think there might be enough room to fly or something?"

Venec:
"Where's Grace? Ah, missed you for a second. Is everyone still with us?" Venec turned to Cepheus, "With this much light it's only getting more crowded the more you go up."

Cepheus:
"...I see."

Cepheus:
"So much for trying to find this castle by air."

Venec:
"Here we are, maybe this is the turn we're lookin' for."
* DNA rolls: 1d20+2 => 20 + 2 = 22
* Andy rolls: 1d20+2 => 17 + 2 = 19

Venec:
Str « 1d20+7 = 4 + 7 = 11 »
Kaorin Sakura:
Cepheus jumps gown with gusto!
Kaorin Sakura:
Venec makes it down safely.

Jupiter:
Jupiter was very impressed at Cepheus' jump. It was pretty epic.
Kaorin Sakura:
Kia makes it down quickly.

Venec:
Tracking « 1d20 = 19 » v 15
You whisper to Venec_Myles: south/southwest.
Andy:
"Jeeze. This place really has changed." Kia scratched the top of her head looking around.

Cepheus:
"You think it might be because Virizion left?"

Venec:
"Maybe..." Venec felt a little guilty for a moment.

Lucy:
"What?"

Cepheus:
"I said, maybe it's because Virizion left."

Lucy:
"Why would that matter?"
Andy:
Kia frowned. She had been thinking that, but wasn't going to say anything.

Venec:
"I caught a Virizion from here."

Venec:
"It's the guardian of the forest, I think. Something like that..."

Lucy:
"I guess I can see it as the Guardian, except it does nothing for the forest especially."

Lucy:
"This looks like something maybe Suicune performed. Or maybe something inspired the Pokémon here to overgrow the trees and spread them out."

Cepheus:
"Suicune? The vanguard of the north wind? How would it manipulate a forest?"

Venec:
"Here's somethin.."

Lucy:
"Exceptionally clean water I imagine promotes growth."

Cepheus:
"Hmm, makes sense."

Venec:
Venec tries to sneak through the trees to the berry bush
You whisper to Venec_Myles: you find a Pecha Berry.

Venec:
"It's a bit narrow, but that would be the shortest path down there

Cepheus:
"So we'll need to go single file then, is that it?"

Venec:
"Yeah." Venec returned Yue in preperation.

Cepheus:
"Jupiter, return."

Jupiter:
Awwww....

Cepheus:
"Grace, you go first. I'll follow behind you."

Venec:
"There's an open area down here."

Grace:
"C'mon, Ceph-chan!"

Cepheus:
"Sorry, sorry!"

Venec:
"Stubborn forest still..."
* Tropius 3 looks down at Cepheus calmly.
* Cepheus looked right back up at it, matching its stare.

Venec:
Venec scanned the pokemon quickly.
* Tropius 3 leaned its head down and sniffed Cepheus' hair before returning back to its full stance.

Tropius 3:
"Tropius, the Fruit Pokémon. Grass and Flying type. Delicious fruits grew out from around its neck because it always ate the same kind of fruit."
* Cepheus didn't flinch, instead letting the Tropius do what it wished.

Lucy:
"I think it'll let us pass..."

Cepheus:
"...All right."

Venec:
Venec began to shift around, trying not to disturb it.

Cepheus:
"Still have the scent, Venec?"
* Lucy glances around uncomfortably.

Venec:
"Mhmm." Venec turned, "What is it Lucy?"

Lucy:
"Just..a lot of them, is all."
Andy:
Kia look around at all of the gigantic creatures. " At least they seem peaceful."

Venec:
"They look the type to be weak against fire, I'm not too worried."

Cepheus:
Cepheus carefully eased his way around the gentle giants, being careful not to disturb them.

Kaorin Sakura:
Well, I have to cut this early.  Sorry guys!  Daughter woke up.  x.x
