  1. Marisa's ending:
  2. After fighting Sumireko, Marisa is unceremoniously booted back into Gensokyo. There's no longer any sign of Kasen or the huge crater; it almost seems like the whole thing was just a dream. She excitedly wakes Reimu up and tells her about how she just went to the outside world, though Reimu brushes it off as some mushroom-induced hallucination. Marisa notices an Occult Ball hovering around Reimu, meaning that the barrier is still in danger... but she figures that if she can get another chance to visit the outside, that might not be such a bad thing. (I assume she then gathers the Occult Balls again, as we see in Kasen's story?)
  3.
  4. Kasen's ending:
  5. Three days pass after Kasen heads outside and fights Sumireko. The Occult Ball rumors are now in full swing, with even Reimu entertaining thoughts of collecting them (though Marisa's most recent trip outside has convinced her that the balls are dangerous after all). Kasen is greeted upon arrival by Mamizou, who asks her why she went outside. She replies that she was just out looking for something (her arm, I would guess), though she didn't find it in the end. At Mamizou's insistence, she explains the nature of the Occult Balls, though in the interest of security she carefully neglects to mention Sumireko herself.
  6.
  7. Ichirin's ending:
  8. After collecting a full set of Occult Balls, Ichirin is sent to the outside world like Marisa was. A few days later, she recounts to Byakuren the dazzling lights, dizzying skyscrapers, and the strange, omnipresent atmosphere that seemed to be denying her very presence there. She doesn't remember it clearly, though; as with Marisa, the whole thing just felt like a dream. Byakuren speculates that Ichirin went to the world of enlightenment, like some of the rumors said, but it was too early for her to become enlightened herself. (Ichirin thinks to herself that if that's really the case, she'd never want to reach enlightenment as long as she lives.)
  9.
  10. Futo's ending:
  11. Futo successfully collects a full set of Occult Balls, but since they're in Senkai rather than Gensokyo proper, they fail to activate. Miko takes note of this, and thanks Futo for inadvertently helping with her investigation of the balls. Futo is somewhat disappointed that the rumors weren't true, and that she'll still have to keep searching for her tenth plate in the foreseeable future. Alas!
  12.
  13. Byakuren's ending:
  14. Having collected a full set of Occult Balls, Byakuren does the sensible thing and seals them away. Just as she and Ichirin turn their backs on the Buddha statue they used to contain the balls, though, the statue vanishes without a trace. (Sumireko must've been quite surprised.) Byakuren breathes a sigh of relief at having narrowly avoided that fate herself, muses on just where the statue could've gone... and to her shock, sees that there's already another Occult Ball in her hand.
  15.
  16. Miko's ending:
  17. Miko successfully quarantines all (well, most of) the Occult Balls in the Divine Spirit Mausoleum. The rumors about the balls are still spreading, though, leading worshipers to crowd around her front door and beg to be given access to them. After lecturing the crowd and sending them away, Miko supposes that someone-- likely the shadow lurking around the Hakurei Shrine (ie. Sumireko)-- has been deliberately spreading more rumors to get the balls back in circulation. She also finds the Lunar Capital orb mixed in with the others, but doesn't realize the full implications of this.
  18.
  19. Mamizou's ending:
  20. Mamizou returns from the outside and convenes with Kasen. She reveals that she pretended to lose her battle with Sumireko, and that the Gensokyo power stone she gave her was actually one of her tanuki underlings in disguise. When Sumireko prepares to enter Gensokyo, the tanuki will signal them, and Kasen herself will pull Sumireko in. The narration then goes on to explain the two methods of crossing a barrier like Gensokyo's; more on that at the bottom, because I found it VERY interesting.
  21.
  22. Shinmyoumaru's ending:
  23. After Shinmyoumaru returns from her battle with Sumireko, Reimu finds her quaking in terror behind a lantern. She says that Shinmyoumaru brought it on herself by collecting the balls, and politely tells her to scram already. For... some reason... this prompts Shinmyoumaru to comment on how nice Gensokyo's humans are compared to the ones outside. The narration also says she never truly believed the rumor about getting bigger anyway; she just felt like she had to confirm it to be totally sure. In the end, all that happened was that she was reminded of how big the rest of the world was.
  24.
  25. Mokou's ending:
  26. Mokou and Sumireko are forced to bring their awesome, dramatic comic-book battle to a close, since Mokou's time outside is already up. They both had tons of fun with it; Mokou in particular enjoyed the rare feeling of being near death, and says that she's really looking forward to their next meeting. Sumireko tearfully looks on as Mokou vanishes ("She's disappearing! The lady whose name I still haven't learned is disappearing...!!"). The narration gleefully advertises their next meeting like it's the next episode of a TV show.
  27.
  28. Nitori's ending:
  29. After Mamizou points out the real urban-legend Nessie following Nitori around, Nitori wastes no time in ditching her plans for the mechanical Nessie and making money off the real thing. She sets up shop at the oiteke-bori marsh(http://yokai.com/oitekebori/) near the Human Village, selling Nessie viewing tickets, Nessie portraits, Nessie dumplings, et cetera. Many of the viewers are skeptical, including Marisa, and nobody's really scared of the thing, but as a tourist attraction it's doing a bang-up job. (The sheer difference between Nitori's usual attitude and her ingratiating business persona is hilarious, too.)
  30.
  31. Koishi's ending:
  32. After fighting Sumireko, Koishi happily returns home and talks to Satori about it. Satori explains to her that there's lots of worlds besides Gensokyo up on the surface, and the outside world is the scariest one of them all. Koishi shows her Sumireko's phone, which she dropped in her haste. Satori is confused at the sight of the thing; it has way fewer buttons than the phones she remembers. Koishi is happy that she finally managed to scare someone with Miss Mary.
  33.
  34. Kokoro's ending:
  35. Kokoro is drifting around the Human Village at night, practising her kuchisake-onna routine (and inadvertently terrifying the villagers into staying indoors). She figures that since the kuchisake-onna cuts up her victim regardless of whether they say she's pretty or not, next time she'll skip the question and just attack them right away. And what do you know! Sumireko comes along right then, as we see in her own storyline, and Kokoro tries out her new approach. Upon seeing Sumireko's foreign abilities and weapons, she also feels the emotion of surprise for the first time in a long while.
  36.
  37. Sumireko's ending:
  38. Sumireko temporarily returns to the outside world via the Occult Balls that Miko returned to her, and stops to catch her breath in an alley. She's still not officially released from Gensokyo, but she's at least got enough time to plan a counterattack. Remembering her original plan to destroy the barrier by fully activating the Occult Balls, she decides to become the barrier-destroying agent herself and bring Gensokyo down with her!! Which leads directly into Reimu's second storyline.
  39. (Also, the ending images give us one of our few glimpses of Sumireko actually standing on the ground. Her cape is way too long for her.)
  40.
  41. Reimu's ending:
  42. Reimu stops Sumireko from activating the Occult Balls just in time, and takes her back to Gensokyo for safe keeping. The gang discusses what to do with her. Kasen suggests using Mamizou's Neuralizer on her, though Mamizou says it's just pretend; Reimu suggests having her live in Gensokyo from now on, which Marisa objects to on the grounds that Sumireko's got a family outside. They figure that with the Occult Balls sent back outside, though, and Sumireko having been taught a lesson, there'll be no problem from now on. Mamizou says she'll keep an eye on her, too.
  43. The narration gives a brief explanation of how the Great Hakurei Barrier becomes weakened when in the presence of items with large amounts of the outside world's spiritual energy, which is why the Occult Balls had the effect they did. The Lunar Capital orb, however, was the one irregularity; Sumireko had no idea about it, and its effect of causing urban legends to manifest was entirely outside of her plans. Its intended purpose will probably have to wait until LoLK to be explained.
  44.
  45. A few days later, though, Sumireko arrives once again! Ever since the events of the final storylines, she's found herself able to visit Gensokyo in her dreams. (She even found herself wondering if the time she spent trapped in Gensokyo was a dream as well.) She soon starts to fade away, though, seeing as lecture she's sleeping through has just ended. Before she goes, Reimu gives her back her Zener cards, which are what Mokou meant to return to her earlier. Reimu comments that it seemed like Mokou just wanted an excuse to see Sumireko again, and offers to introduce them the next time Sumireko comes around.
  46. The narration mentions how Sumireko will never physically visit Gensokyo again, but she visits the place all the time in her dreams. There's tons of interesting people to meet, and it turns out that a whole lot of them want to hear stories from the oustide world, making her into a local sensation for a time. That summer, the narration says, was when the Secret Sealing Club's work truly began. What an exciting change from the boring life she's had until now! ...although sleeping through half the day brings its own set of problems.

  50. ...annnd i'm a shameless sucker for worldbuilding so here's the barrier stuff in detail:
  51.
  52. The first method, commonly referred to as "spiriting away", is where one simply moves across the barrier while still leaving it intact. You can only bring certain stuff with you, and in many cases you can only stay there for a limited amount of time. This is the method that Sumireko used to initially enter Gensokyo and spread the Occult Balls; since she hadn't "properly" entered Gensokyo, most people only saw her as a shadow, and the cast couldn't truly retaliate against her. (<-- stated in Mamizou's ending)
  53. This also seems to be what happens when someone gathers the Occult Balls under regular circumstances-- examples being Ichirin, Mokou, Shinmyoumaru and Marisa, who all returned after a set amount of time, remembered events in a vague dream-like fashion, and notably *didn't destroy the barrier*. Since Sumireko's ending implies that she has to deliberately activate the balls in order to actually break the barrier, I figure the balls will otherwise only bring someone out temporarily? Although she says in her ending that she did plan to activate them "once someone in Gensokyo gathered them and enough energy had been stored up", so we can still thank Kasen for sending Marisa outside early and distracting Sumireko from that plan.
  54. Also, this is just me talking, but it being referred to as "spiriting away" and being remembered only as a dream by most of the characters immediately brings Mary's experiences in the music CD stories to mind. Innnnnteresting. (...to me, at least.)
  55.
  56. The second method is to pass through a hole opened in the barrier via proper procedures. There's no time limit in this case. (<-- stated in Mamizou's ending) This is the method by which Kasen pulls Sumireko into Gensokyo, as well as the method by which Reimu leaves to chase Sumireko in the final storyline. You're basically considered an official resident of whichever world you cross into via this method, it seems. Also, in contrast to the previous method, Kasen's comments in the final storyline indicate that you *will* be visible to the residents of said world. Since Kasen stayed outside for three days and even bought some souvenirs, this is probably the method she used in her ending as well.
