  1. Welcome to the /w*g/ FAQ pastebin, Cupcake. I hope you read this shit before you ask a question that gets answered 4 times every thread.
  2.
  3.
  4. >What faction/race/class/path do I pick?
  5. Whatever the hell you want. We have guilds and circles on both sides. Races only decide what classes you get. Every path but explorer has some useful group skill, but pick explorer if you want. If somebody says otherwise, they're just some meme-loving fuck.
  6.
  7. >Classes
  8. Engineer: Ranged tank & ranged DPS. Carefully micromanage bots and keep a resource between 30 and 70 to do max dps.
  9. Resource: Volatility. A 0-100 point bar that you must build to use certain skills.
  10. Innate: Exo-suit. Put on some power armor to increase your abilities. Different versions for tank and DPS.
  11.
  12. Esper: Ranged DPS & healer. Shoot glowy swords at people and build combo points.
  13. Resource: Combo points. Build up with builders, spend 1-5 points on finishers.
  14. Innate: Spectral Form. Give yourself a bubble and build 1 combo point a second for five seconds.
  15.
  16. Medic: Mid-range DPS & healer. Use SCIENCES to mend or maim.
  17. Resource: Actuators. Certain abilities build them, others drain them. Refill automatically out of combat.
  18. Innate: Energize. Refill all actuators and providing attack+support power above 30% health or providing shield heal + mitigation buff below 30% health.
  19.
  20. Spellslinger: Ranged DPS & healer. Shoot people dead or back to life.
  21. Resource: Spellpower. 0-100 point bar. Almost all your abilities are improved by spending 25 spellpower on them, check tooltips to see what they do (mostly just extra damage).
  22. Innate: Spellpower. No cooldown, turn it on/off as you need to add additional damage or faster charge times to your skills.
  23.
  24. Stalker: Tank & melee DPS. Dickass space rogues.
  25. Resource: Suit Power. Like rogue energy.
  26. Innate: Nano-Skin. Grants stealth. Can alternate between a DPS stance with a guaranteed crit on stealth attack with bonus damage, tanking stance that reduces damage taken and grants bonus defense and threat generation, and a third stance that increases movement speed as well as grants lifesteal.
  27.
  28. Warrior: Tank & melee DPS. Hit shot with your sword to build rag- er, Kinetic Energy, then make bar go away to make health disappear.
  29. Resource: Kinetic Energy. 0-1000 bar. Constantly drains after a very short duration. More damaging abilities will require certain amounts in order to use (ie: "Usable at 250 Kinetic Energy or higher").
  30. Innate: Stances. DPS stance puts you at max Kinetic Energy for a short time, while Tank stance provides passive damage resistance and threat generation.
  31.
  32. >Paths
  33. Explorer: Jump on shit. Go fast with explorer-only buffs throughout the zone. Learn to triple jump and reduce fall damage. Jetpack.
  34. Soldier: Kill shit. Use special weapons. Freebie weapon upgrades as you level.
  35. Settler: Collect shit. Build shit at quest hubs that everyone can use to acquire buffs. Learn to make a healing campfire, a store, and a mailbox.
  36. Scientist: Scan shit for lore. Scan other shit for short buffs. Learn to summon party members and build a teleport portal. Use the Auto Scan addon for ez mode science.
  37.
  38. Path costumes can be found on this page: http://wildstar-fashion.com/costumes/
  39. Path Costumes are faction, not path, restricted. Sorry Exiles, you don't get the sweet Dommie settler hat.
  40.
  41.
  42. >Anon told me "X" is shit! Is it?
  43. It's an MMO. Balance patches are guaranteed.
  44.
  45.
  46. >Tell me about tradeskills!
  47. Tradeskills become available at level 10. In addition to the two below that you pick, everyone has access to Cooking (food buffs) and Runecrafting (stats socketed into gear, a key component of end game gearing).
  48.
  49. Tailor, Outfitter, and Armorer: These make light, medium, and heavy armor respectively.
  50. Technologist: The alchemist. Makes potions that heal and give various buffs.
  51. Weaponsmith: Weapons.
  52. Architect: Furniture and FABkits (modules you can place on your plot that are useful or just decorative).
  53. & various gathering professions.
  54. When speaking to the NPC who teaches you a trade, each trade has a blurb which says what pairs well together.
  55.
  56.
  57. >How does Runecrafting work? Why is it important?
  58. At the endgame, most of your secondary stats will come from runes. I only know a bit about runes but our very own kawaii senpai is super rad and made a guide to runes just for you.

  68.
  69. >This game runs like shit!
  70. We know.
  71. To help make it a little better go to the menu and open up the addons section. From there, deactivate Who and the Combat Log.
  72. Additionally you can try running ForgeUI or PotatoUI ( http://www.curse.com/ws-addons/wildstar/227047-forgeui http://www.curse.com/ws-addons/wildstar/220026-potatoui ).
  73. Carbine's interface a shit. They may or may not fix it in the future.
  74.
  75. >How do I turn the HUD off?
  76. Alt-Z
  77.
  78. >I keep dying in the first dungeon! Help!
  79. Interrupting is key to dungeon success. The Interrupt Armor mechanic makes stopping a deadly spell a group effort. You skipped the newbie tutorial, didn't you?
  80.
  81. Interrupt armor is either: Infinite (a grey shield icon) or Finite (a bronze icon with a number on it). A bosses levels of interrupt armor CAN and WILL change during an encounter.
  82. Check the tooltips of your classes abilities to find out which ones break armor: these are the kicks / interrupts. They're under the Utility category, and every class gets one in the very early levels. It takes [Interrupt Armor + 1] Armor Breaks to interrupt a spell.
  83. Here's an example of how it works:
  84. A Boss with 2 interrupt armor is casting 'This Will One Shot You.' To survive this encounter your party needs at most three interrupt abilities to land before the boss completes their cast: 2 to break the armor, 1 to interrupt the spell.
  85.
  86. The "cast bar" of the default interface is an orange bar that fills over the unit frame.
  87.
  88. Some interrupt abilities can be specced to break more than one IA and most classes have access to more than one interrupt ability.
  89. Expect to need to beat 2IA to complete your normal dungeons while leveling. Each DPS bringing a single interrupt gets this done, but if you're a tank or healer consider bringing one to carry dps who can't into mechanics.
  90.
  91.
  92. >Why is everyone so bad at this dungeon?
  93. Pugs are hell. To help with this, you can try to tell them the boss' mechanics, or remind them to interrupt during interruptable attacks.. Try to help them become better players for other's sakes by teaching them.
  94.
  95.
  96. >How do I hide my helmet and use costumes & dyes?
  97. Press P to open your character menu, then pick "Costumes" from the drop down. Click the big ol Holo-Wardrobe button and it'll open a whole new world of fashion.
  98. The Holo-Wardrobe is also available from the "Start Menu" in the bottom left corner and pinnable to the "task bar" or a keybinding.
  99.
  100. Equipping a costume applies the visual of the selected items regardless of what gear you wear. Upgrading to a new item does not necessitate a change in your costume.
  101. You can save four costume sets, with additional saved sets purchasable from the in game store for omnibits.
  102.
  103. Unlock an items costume by shift+right clicking the item and selecting "Unlock Costume Item." Items unlocked to the Holo Wardrobe are account wide, save a few specific items.
  104. A light armor wearing class can affect the appearance of heavy armor through the Holo Wardrobe, and vice versa.
  105.
  106.
  107. >How do I install addons?
  108. Simply download the addon and drop it in your addon folder in C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\NCSOFT\WildStar\Addons
  109. Addons can be installed without restarting the game. Once extracted to the above path type "/reloadui" to refresh the addons section of the menu and load your addons.
  110.
  111.
  112. >What's this about discovery costumes?
  113. http://imgur.com/a/K65zV
  114.
  115.
  116. >How do I find discoveries?
  117. They show up as raised and cracked pieces of ground with a glow coming from them.
  118. Download the Perspective addon if you're having trouble finding them. https://github.com/SoeyFlamepaw/Perspective
  119. This map also lists possible discovery locations: https://imgur.com/a/YKRmY
  120.
  121.
  122. >What are expeditions, adventures, and dungeons?
  123. Expeditions are small, soloable instances that scale to the number of players that also reward renown solo.
  124. Adventures are 5-man instances that lead you on, you guessed it, adventures. They're easier than dungeons, but often try to do something "different". One is a small series of quests, one is a MOBA, one is tower defense, etc.
  125. Dungeons are exactly what you'd expect from an MMO dungeon. 5-man instances where you fight tons of enemies and bosses until you just leave the pug you queued for (if you could even find a tank) because the DPS won't interrupt and the tank is trying to kite the boss and getting everybody hit with cleaves while the healer runs out of focus in the corner.
  126.
  127.
  128. >Holy shit, this is a lot of currencies!
  129. It really is, but unless Carbine decides to merge currencies this is what we get. Let me try and sum up what other currencies there are.
  130. Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum: These are the main currency, used for most transactions. 100 copper is 1 silver, 100 silver is 1 gold, 100 gold is 1 plat.
  131. Renown is gained by completing group content (or solo expeditions) and used at certain vendors. It can be used for gear in the Elder Game as well as plenty of cosmetic stuff such as decor and costumes.
  132. Prestige is the PvP currency, earned from completing PvP matches. It's spent on PvP gear, amp and ability tier upgrades, and consumables as well as cosmetics.
  133. Vouchers is a currency used solely for crafting. It can unlock high level crafting recipes as well as bags full of crafting materials.
  134. Glory is an Elder Game currency you earn for completing contracts and veteran instances. It can be used on gear for dungeons and raids as well as some cosmetics.
  135. When you hit level 50, your XP bar is replaced with an Elder Points bar that grants you Elder Gems. Elder Gems are used for a large chunk of end game content including amp and ability tiers, bags, cosmetic items, and the incredibly important attunement key used to unlock Raids.
  136. Service Tokens are used for dying items, changing your appearance, and several handy tools for runing. You earn them from daily rewards or buying them for omnibits/ncoins.
  137. Protobucks are the real money currency, used to buy items in the cash shop. Omnibits are the in-game equivalent of Protobucks, allowing you to purchase nearly everything in the cash store with a currency you get just from gaining XP.
  138.
  139. >I have left over Ncoin, can I convert them to Protobucks?
  140. Yes, all Ncoin can be converted into Protobucks regardless of the NCOIn source as long as it's applied to your NCSOFT account. Protobucks can not be converted back into NCOIN.
  141.
  142.
  143. >I hit level 50! What now?
  144. Work on getting your AMP/Ability Tier points and gearing up. AMP/Ability Tier points come from maxing the level 50/Daily zone reps, PvP, Expeditions/Adventure/Renown unlocks, and from the Elder Gem vendor.
  145.
  146. Quick Gearing: Arcterra for vendor purchased(with soulfrost) ilvl 85 gear, World Bosses for ilvl 90 gear, and Contracts for ilvl 100 gear.
