  1. Welcome to your Legacy event! Today, we are in the midst of the celebration of the legacy of the Jewish people, Hanukkah! As such, I thought I'd give a bit of a description of what we are celebrating. Hanukkah means "dedication" in Hebrew, and is really about the rededication of a temple that had been converted from a Jewish temple to a temple devoted to Zeus (you may know him as HELIOD recently). Well, the hebrew people eventually began a resistance during the Greek oppression, and started an uprising of Resistance Fighters, the Maccabees. During the uprising, through sheer FORCE OF WILL the Jews were able to HOLD THE LINE against the OPPOSITION and retook the TEMPLE OF MYSTERY. In order to PURIFY the DESECRATED EARTH of the temple, they wanted to burn the sacred oil. They had only enough BURNING OIL for one night, yet the oil flashbacked every night and burned for 8 nights instead. As such, we light our CANDELABRA's each night as a sign of REMEMBRANCE. The dreidel's and gelt are a different story we don't have time for.
