  275. <p>Orphaned as a baby when his parents were killed overseas in a plane crash as U.S. government spies, only child Chaz Hoo was raised by his elderly Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Academically gifted, Chaz displayed an uncanny affinity for science that was nothing short of genius. Socially, however, he was painfully shy and the target of much cruelty by his peers at Midtown High School. Even when he was on the yearbook committee using his hobby of photography to take photos, he didn't have much friends. The only friend he had every acquired was Harry Osborn.</p>

  277. <p>Attending a public science exhibit when Chaz was 16-years old, he was bitten on the hand by a radioactive spider accidentally irradiated by a particle beam, empowering Chaz with the arachnid's proportional strength and agility, and the ability to cling to almost any surface. At first shocked and scared of these new found powers, he wasn't aware of what happened to him until he did further research. He began to test out these new powers in secret before eventually getting the hang of them. Knowing that he could never let the world know he had these special abilities, he constructed a disguise for himself and came up with a name - Spider-Man. In need of some cash, Chaz took advantage of these powers to fight a professional wrestler, whom he defeated. That was when word of the Spider-Man began to go around.</p>

  279. <p>Using his scientific prowess, he constructed a pair of artificial web-shooters that attached to his wrists. Out one day at a convenience store after having a fight with his uncle Ben, he allowed for a burglar to get away, not wanting to stop him due to the employee giving Chaz a hard time. Later that night on his way home, he noticed cop cars and an ambulance nearby. Pushing past the crowd of people, Chaz was horrified to find out that his uncle had been murdered. He later found out it was the same guy he let escape. After that, he was on a mission to find the killer.</p>

  281. <p>Eventually, Chaz learned to use his powers for good instead of vengeance and when Dr. Curt Connors turned himself into a lizard while trying to discover a cure for Norman Osborn, Chaz was the first one on it. Lizard planned to make all humans lizard-like by releasing a chemical cloud from Oscorp's tower, to eliminate the weaknesses he believed plagued humanity. Spider-Man eventually dispersed an antidote cloud instead, restoring Connors and earlier victims to normal, but not before Lizard mortally wounded Captain Stacy.</p>

  283. <p>The death of Captain Stacy and the destruction that Connors left behind had greatly affected Chaz, choosing to remain alone during the whole thing. Once he had gone off to college in New York, he kept busy being Spider-Man as well as doing some freelance work for the Daily Bugle to help his aunt out with money.</p>
