Janna's misplaced hat

>BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BE-THUNK
>Janna groans and groggily opens one eye after smacking her alarm clock
>"I hate Mondays" -Janna drowsily said, slowly getting out of her bed and wiping the sleep from her eyes
>Checking the time, Janna figures that if she hurries a little, she might get to bug Marco a little before the school bus stopped nearby
>Rolling out of bed, Janna proceeded to go about getting herself ready for school
>Almost finished with her personal grooming; Janna notices that her hat isn't in it's normal spot by her bed
>"That's weird, I'm sure..." -Janna muses as she starts looking under various furniture to see if she dropped her hat somewhere new
>After a few minutes, Janna starts getting desperate, tossing dirty clothing and food wrappers off her floor to try and see where she had misplaced it
>Janna glances at her clock
>"I don't have time for this!" -Janna yells as she grabs her backpack and heads back into her bathroom to try and quickly brush her hair in an attempt to tame the beast
>After a few minutes of failing to tame her hair, she throws the comb into her backpack and stalks out of her room in a temper
>"Just gonna have to deal with this on the way to school" -Janna grumbles under her breath as she walks out the door and toward the bus stop
>As fate would have it, Hope had just stepped out her front door and was heading Janna's way at about the same time that Janna was leaving as well
>Hope, seeing Janna, proceeds to wave and shout out a greeting
>"Hey Janna, having a good mo-" -Hope stops as she sees Janna's hair for the first time, eyes bugging out slightly and turning green
>Janna notices this, and proceeds to pull her backpack over her head, while at the same time asking Hope if she happens to have something she can use to cover her head with
>Hope then, after recovering her composure a little, starts ruffling through her backpack for something and, shrugging, pulls out a pink baseball cap and hands it to Janna


>"I'm not sure how much this will help, but you need it more than I do" -Hope says as she hands the cap to Janna
>"Thanks Hope, your a real lifesaver; and please don't tell anyone what you just saw" -Janna simultaneously thanks and pleads with Hope while readjusting the cap
>"Oh, no worries Janna, I'll take it with me to my grave...and probably beyond" -Hope states while staring at Janna and slowly trying to turn her eyes elsewhere
>After Hope recovers a little more, she asks Janna why she wasn't wearing her normal hat today
>"That's the weird thing Hope, I thought for sure I'd put it in the same spot I always do, but when I woke up today it wasn't there" -Janna explained
>"That is kinda odd, hopefully it turns up soon; but until then you can keep using that cap" -Hope sympathized while looking to see if the bus was near them yet
> A minute or two goes by, then the two girls hear a faint...rumbling, coming from the street that the Diaz family lives on
>"I hope that's not an earthquake or something" -Hope says while still periodically looking for the school bus and nervously looking at the ground
>"I dunno, maybe Star messed something up with her magic and now the neighborhood is slowly sinking into the Pacific!" -Janna says while waving her arms around like she's casting magic spells
>As Janna finished speaking, Star and Marco turned the corner on their street and started running straight toward the two girls
>"Is that Marco and Star? They're..." -Hope noted casually until she saw the large group of monsters hot on their tail
>"Oh man, we might get to see monster fight, and so early too!" -Janna said while checking to make sure her cap was still on
>Just then, Marco and Star came to a stop at the bus stop, out of breath and looking flushed
>"There's too many of them of 'em! We have to split them up somehow or find an empty lot that no one will miss!" -Marco panted while looking to see if anything nearby might help them


>"Ah come on Marco, I'm sure no one will mind if there's a huge hole in the street that much" -Star said while smiling at the incoming monsters and readying her wand
>"You remember that letter my parents got from the Homeowners Association? Well they threatened to kick us out of the neighborhood if we had anymore large scale magical "mishaps". Lowering property values or something" -Marco tried to explain to Star
>Saddened, Star lowered her wand and, turning around, finally noticed Janna and Hope staring at them from the curb where they sat
>"Hey guys! Enjoying your morning so far? I know I...Awww!" -Star coos as she notices Janna's pink baseball cap
>Marco hears Star and looks at Janna
>"Morning Janna, Hope...huh, where's your normal hat Janna? -Marco asks out of sheer politeness and not with any real interest
>"Wouldn't you like to know?" -Janna says while walking up to Marco and leaning over his shoulder
>Janna then starts whispering something into his ear, while Marco proceeds to get redder and redder with each passing moment
>"Alright then, uh, I think that's enough Janna, I'm good thanks" -Marco says while pulling his hoodie over his head and walking away from Janna while Star and Hope giggle at the two of them
>Just then the monsters finally caught up to the four teens and Ludo showed himself
>"Think you can just beat up a few of my monsters and run away to school, do you? Well not today Princess Butterfly and Karate boy! Today we'll finish this once and for all, now that I've got some extra monsters from Monsters"R"Us to finally beat you both into dust!" -Ludo yelled while atop his bat minion
>Star and Marco get into their respective battle stances, faces grim, ready to face off against the horde of monsters that had ambushed them earlier
>Hope and Janna start backing away from the prospective fight, but then Janna gets an idea
>"Hey bird brain, wanna see something scary? -Janna yelled while running ahead of Star and Marco


>Both teens look at Janna like she's gone mad, while Hope, realizing what Janna might be about to do, runs behind both Star and Marco and uses her hands to cover their eyes
>"Hey! What gives Hope?!And what's Janna up to? -Marco says while Star just compliments Hope on her soft hands and asks what brand moisturizer she uses
>"Just close your eyes, both of you, it'll be over soon" -Hope says as she closes her own eyes, not wanting another viewing of what she seen earlier
>With all the monsters focused on her, confused, Janna pointed to her cap, then proceeded to whip it off with a flourish
>Similar to the scene from the Exorcist, most of the monsters proceeded to explosively expel what they'd had for breakfast that morning all the place; even Ludo turned white as a sheet and was holding his hand over his beak, looking for a nearby trashcan
>"Retreat! Fall back! It's too early in the morning for this sort of thing! I knew this was a bad idea!" -Ludo yelled as the rest of the monsters gathered their wits and stomachs and headed toward the portal that Ludo had hastily opened in the street
>After the monsters had left and Janna had put the cap back on and gave the a-ok, the three opened their eyes and stared at Janna
>"What did you do to them Janna? And why...you know what, I'm better off not knowing, but thanks for the save" -Marco said while clapping Janna on the back
>"Wow Janna, that was great! How'd you beat back Ludo and all his monsters?!" -Star exclaimed while jumping up and down while looking at Janna with newfound respect
>"Oh, it's a secret Star, girl has to have a few" -Janna said with a twinkle in her eye while the school bus finally rolled down their street to pick them up
>Picking her backpack off the curb, Janna's hat fell out of one of the sidepockets and tumbled to the curb
>"Well would ya look at that; today might be a good day after all" -Janna said while quickly swapping back to her normal hat after dusting it off and stepping onto the school bus
