  84. Jon's life began with the science of Nerv, born to have high Synch Ratio and to be a consistent, controllable asset. He was allowed ample access to social contact and peers of his supposed age, as an experiment in maintaining the control of their assets in chaotic situations. Kept at arm's length from the organization for years, it was discovered that despite his lack of regular testing, more science, and dozens of more recent clones, something about Jon caused him to come in above his peers in terms of the only metric that matters. In addition, his positive and healthy attitude towards his fate and improved social skills made him an attractive choice.
