  142. [spoiler=Background]Toryn Brightstep is the son of a lesser Chelaxian noble. Born Toryn de'Croque, and with a silver spoon in his mouth, the young Chelaxian never wanted for anything. However, despite this, the boy never felt quite accustomed to the life of a nobleman's son. Where he was supposed to be attending balls and studying, Toryn wanted nothing more than to play with his friends outside, roughhouse in alleyways and generally spend his time as he pleased. Well into his teenage years, the Chelaxian boy was a troublemaker, his mischevious ways and general relaxed nature at odds with the prim and proper society he was apart of.

  144. Throughout his childhood, his parents attempted to indoctrinate him into the faith of Asmodeus, like many noble families of Cheliax. Toryn felt the Prince of Darkness and his teachings were far too restrictive. Instead, he taught himself the tenets of Sarenrae in secret. One day, when he was in his early twenties, Toryn was discovered praying to the Dawnflower by his family. He was almost immediately exiled from the family with barely enough money to get him to another city. Leaving the de'Croque name behind, he took on the name Brightstep.

  146. Instead of traveling to another city, however, the young man set out into the wilds. With only a simple breastplate, a dagger and a longbow, he went where he pleased and made a life for himself. Living with and among the forests, Toryn began to see the order and beauty of nature. Vowing to protect it, he spent a good many years defending animals against overzealous hunters, cities and monsters. When he turned twenty-five, Brightstep came upon a nomadic Shoanti tribe. Finding them to be quite agreeable, he earned their trust and began to travel with them. Here he learned the fighting style that he now uses to defend the forest he calls home.

  148. Eventually, he decided to leave the Shoanti behind to return to the wilds. Establishing a bond of trust with a local pack of dire wolves, Toryn became the de facto guardian and protector of the forest. Given a wolf cub to raise as a symbol of this bond, Toryn Brightstep now goes forth to do good, serve the Dawnflower, and protect the wilds.[/spoiler]

  150. [spoiler=Physical Description]Tough and gallant, Toryn is a powerful-looking Chelaxian man. He is handsome, with short and messy brown hair, and bright, friendly green eyes. He is just under six feet tall, weighing about 175 pounds. He tends to wear a tabard and adventurer's outfit over his armor, and prefer darker, earthier tones in his clothing.

  154. [spoiler=Personality]Toryn is a friendly, helpful fellow, who is always looking out for the good of others. Justice is always on his mind, and whether in the city where he came from, or the forests which he now protects, he is enforcer and avatar of the law and goodness. He loves to spend time with his animal companion, Seras, the female wolf having been given to him by the wolf pack that had protected the forest before his arrival.

  156. However, Toryn is a little overwhelmed by all the responsibility that has been hefted on him, and is prone to bouts of depression when he fails in his duty as protector of the forest.[/spoiler]
