  1. He looked into the shadows, looking frantically for some sign of his pursuer. He knew he wouldn't find it; the man was an expert, after all. The only warning he'd get would be his death.
  2.
  3. No, that's too negative. If he thought like that, he really would get captured? But how could you possibly escape someone who could read your mind, with no apparent limits on distance? Any trap you tried to set, foiled in an instant as your own thoughts gave it away. What could he do, other than try to make the most of his last moments? He could simply run, of course, and hope his pursuer considered him not worth the effort...

  5. Maximilian grinned as he ran through the woods. Unlike his target, he knew just what lay in store- there was no way to get free, with all the inevitable wrong turns and dead ends he would have to take. There was a reason these woods weren't a common escape method, after all. Well, a reason other than the fact that they would be escaping from him. He felt the fear is the targets mind, and grinned. The ones that resisted were troublesome, often taking hours to lure out, and he had to be careful to lest they discover some weakness he was unaware of. It didn't pay to be incautious, after all, and this guy was supposed to smart.
  6. Now, where was he? Ah yes, right around the corner. Now for a little dramatics to scare him.

  8. Sam was jumping at every shadow, while his mind worked, hopelessly, at finding a way to win, or even just make it out with his life. If only he hadn't gotten them this mad! No, self recriminations were useless. It was a sensible choice at the time, and no one would have dreamed that they would have gone so far as to hire HIM, or that they even could afford it.
  9. There, what was that! No, another branch, in the crescent moonlight looking like a grasping hand...
  10. "Hello. You've given me quite some trouble, you know? I'm not merciless, though. Oh, stop thinking that. If I killed everyone, who would spread the rumors? Look, all you have to do is open it for me, and I'll let you go. If you head off to another town, no one will be any the wiser."
  11. The voice was almost in Sam's ear, and he didn't dare turn to look- if only because of the knife he could feel on his neck. His voice trembled as he tried to respond, and he cursed his weakness.
  12. "You don't need to talk if you don't want to. I can just take it all out, without you needing to say a thing."
  13. Suddenly, not on instinct because instinct was still a purposeful action, an attempt to do something, but in a way so casual as to see purposeless, Sam moved the gun out of his pocket and blindly pointed it towards the other man.
  14. "That was a nice try, but I'm not limited to surface thoughts."
  15. With that, the man seized his wrist with an iron grip.

  17. The capture had been going well, Max thought. A little more fear than normal, but that was fine, too. Well, up until the main pulled out a a gun. If he had been relying purely on his thought reading powers, that would have been it. Heh, looks like this guy is as smart as they say. What can I say, though- night vision goggles have so many uses. How to stop him from trying again? Well, a little white lie never heart anyone.

  19. At that statement, any resistance Sam had left dissipated.
  20. "A-a-alright, I-i'll open it for you."
  21. "Good man. I think that we'll get along juuust fine"
