  1. 2. The rate of population growth and average living standards has drastically increased in the past 60 years. This has caused us to use up a massive amount of the earth’s resources. Even though the entire population of earth is able to fit into the state of Texas we still use up most of the resources on earth. Scientists predict that we will not be able to sustain ourselves once the population count reaches around 10-11 Billion.

  3. 3. With this worry of shortage people have been on two sides. One side says people will have to find another planet or drastically change the life style of most countries. The other says that we can find substitutes and will have more advance technology to help recreate the atmosphere and balance nature.
  4.
  5. 4. Since 1950 the burning of fossil fuels has increased fivefold. Some scientists believe that this has caused a greenhouse effect. A greenhouse effect is when gasses rise up into the atmosphere and get trapped in a pocket, thus warming the earth and creating climate changes.

  7. 5. Since 1960 our water consumption has doubled. This has caused water tables to fail and rivers to run dry before they reach the ocean. The United Nation estimated that by the year 2025 2/3rds of the population of Earth will struggle will water shortage problems.

  12. The rate of population growth and average living standards has drastically increased in the past 60 years. This has caused us to use up a massive amount of the earth’s resources. They say that even an American four-year-old uses more resources than most people in other countries will use in their life time. Since 1950 the burning of fossil fuels has increased fivefold and our water usage has doubled. Even though the entire population of earth is able to fit into the state of Texas we still use up most of the resources on earth. People often tend to argue and debate over whether we are going to run out or if we can use our advanced technology to solve our environmental problems. Even though people who believe that technology will be able to help us they still think that we should all watch our habits and change to a more conservative life style to prevent any further damage to the planet.
