  5. Homework: write an independent response to this prompt (You can take more than the 30 minutes you’d normally get on the TOEFL, but try not to take more than about 45 minutes or it won’t be useful TOEFL preparation.)
  6.
  7. “Some young adults want independence from their parents as soon as possible. Other young adults prefer to live with their families for a longer time. Which of these situations do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.”
  8.

  21. Difficult Reading Questions
  22. 4 - fact - B (The last sentence tells us iron deficiency is characterized by chlorosis, and the first sentence tells us that is a yellow or white coloration.)
  23. 14 - summary - B D F (Look for the answers that aren’t too specific, and summarize the content of one or more paragraphs.)
  24. 18 - fact - B (The sentence about Egypt says the people who believed it thought only the Egyptians were skilled enough. In other words, people elsewhere in the world didn’t have the skills.)
  25. 19 - inference - C (This isn’t really an inference because one sentence of the paragraph says it directly. You should eliminate the other answers because the passage states that there was no solid evidence, including linguistic evidence.)
  26. 22 - purpose - D (The paragraph starts by listing three requirements to colonize Polynesia, and then gives details to show that the people in Southeast Asia had all three.)
  27. 24 - vocabulary - C (“Undisputed” means no one disputes it. Everyone agrees. The undisputed presence of something means everyone agrees or acknowledges that it was present.)
