                                 A historical timeline By London Visual Activist Collective


This year marks 99 years since the Balfour declaration was signed
To mark this occasion, members of the London Visual Activist Collective in conjunction with activists
in England, Ireland, and the USA have compiled a history timeline comparing what was happening in Palestine
with what was happening in other parts of the world.
this year by year account consists of sheets of laminated A4 paper with a year from Palestine on one side and events from outside Palestine on the reverse.
these are suspended on a 'washing line' type frame which was constructed especially
LVAC activist @cockneyactivist explains:

" When people hear about the problems in Palestine it is sometimes hard to appreciate just how long the Palestinians have been suffering.
By comparing the events from Palestine with the rest of the world, the vast scale of the injustice is laid bare for all to see.
When John Lennon was shot, Palestinians were suffering oppression
When Yuri Gagarin first went to space, Palestinians were being driven from their land
When everyone was watching The Sound of Music in cinemas, Palestine was being ethnically cleansed.
How is it that we can see the start of, and find a solution to end the wars in Vietnam, Korea, Spain, the Falklands, Northern Ireland, and many others but still after countless resolutions Palestine is still being occupied and even worse the rate of Israeli settlement building increases"

Members of the public will be able to browse through the various years or explore the entire history.
before they start viewing people are given a short introduction to explain the events leading up to 1917 including the Hussein McMahon agreement promising the Arabs what Britain then gave to Lord Rothschild.

The timeline will be on display in various London locations for the rest of 2016 when it will have one more year added to mark 100 years since the Balfour declaration.

The timeline will then be shown around the UK and Ireland.
