- The Beginner's Guide to Custom Game! (Level 9999 edition)
- Section 1: Introduction
- -----------------------
- ·What is Custom Game?
- Custom Game is a format that takes the normal game of Pokémon to a whole new level.
- You can:
- 1. Have any Ability you want.
- 2. Use Pokémon that are already in their Mega, Primal, or other battle-specific Forme.
- 3. Use moves that the Pokémon does not normally learn.
- 4. Have up to 24 moves on any Pokémon.
- 5. Set your Pokémon's level to up to 9999.
- 6. Have up to 252 EVs in EVERY stat.
- While this type of format allows for many types of "challenge" type games and convoluted tests that wouldn't normally be possible in a regular Balanced Hackmons battle, for this guide I will only be talking about a certain game type: The Level 9999 "metagame".
- ---
- ·How do I set my Pokémon to level 9999?
- Just follow these steps:
- 1. Open your teambuilder.
- 2. Select a Pokémon.
- 3. Click on Import/Export.
- 4. You will see a text field that resembles this:
- Marill
- Ability: Thick Fat
- Or, if you have many more details filled out, perhaps it will look more like this:
- Marill @ Eviolite
- Ability: Huge Power
- EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
- Adamant Nature
- - Play Rough
- - Aqua Jet
- - Waterfall
- - Knock Off
- In order to change the level to 9999, add the following line to this text field:
- Level: 9999
- So, for example:
- Marill @ Eviolite
- Ability: Huge Power
- Level: 9999
- EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
- Adamant Nature
- - Play Rough
- - Aqua Jet
- - Waterfall
- - Knock Off
- 5. Click Save.
- 6. Congratulations! Your Pokémon is now Level 9999.
- *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: DO NOT change anything in the "Details" field, because that will reset the level back to 100.
- *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: You technically _can_ set your Pokémon's level to a number above 9999, but this Pokémon's level will default back to 9999 once you send it into battle.

- ·How do I give my Pokémon 24 moves?
- This is another thing that requires the magic of Import/Export. Follow these steps:
- 1: Open your teambuilder.
- 2: Select a Pokémon. (You may wish to select the same Pokémon that you just changed to level 9999.)
- 3: Click on Import/Export.
- 4: Again, you should see something that resembles this:
- Marill @ Eviolite
- Ability: Huge Power
- Level: 9999
- EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
- Adamant Nature
- - Play Rough
- - Aqua Jet
- - Waterfall
- - Knock Off
- In order to add another move, simply add a line like this:
- - Move Name
- For example:
- - V-create
- Once you do this, this is what the text field should look like:
- Marill @ Eviolite
- Ability: Huge Power
- Level: 9999
- EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
- Adamant Nature
- - Play Rough
- - Aqua Jet
- - Waterfall
- - Knock Off
- - V-create
- Of course, don't stop at just 5 moves. Construct the ultimate moveset! You have 24 moveslots, so you have a lot of freedom:
- Marill @ Eviolite
- Ability: Huge Power
- Level: 9999
- EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
- Adamant Nature
- - Play Rough
- - Aqua Jet
- - Waterfall
- - Knock Off
- - V-create
- - Swords Dance
- - Spectral Thief
- - Catastropika
- - Horn Leech
- - Sacred Sword
- ...and so on, until you reach the maximum of 24 moves.
- *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: Choose your moves carefully! 24 moves may seem like a lot, but once you become familiar with this "metagame", you may find yourself wishing you had more moveslots.
- *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: Although it is technically possible to add more than 24 moves to your Pokémon, doing so is pointless; Once you send the Pokémon into battle, it will not load any more than the first 24 moves you added to its moveset.
- ---
- ·How do I have 252 EVs in every stat?
- This one's easy. Click on the "Stats" field on the selected Pokémon, and place the number 252 in every text field in the "EVs" column.
- *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: Although it is technically possible to change the EVs to a number higher than 252 using the Import/Export feature, there is no point in doing so; they will default back to 252 once you send the Pokémon into battle.
