  1. The Beginner's Guide to Custom Game! (Level 9999 edition)
  2.
  3. Section 1: Introduction
  4. -----------------------
  5. ·What is Custom Game?
  6. Custom Game is a format that takes the normal game of Pokémon to a whole new level.
  7. You can:
  8. 1. Have any Ability you want.
  9. 2. Use Pokémon that are already in their Mega, Primal, or other battle-specific Forme.
  10. 3. Use moves that the Pokémon does not normally learn.
  11. 4. Have up to 24 moves on any Pokémon.
  12. 5. Set your Pokémon's level to up to 9999.
  13. 6. Have up to 252 EVs in EVERY stat.
  14.
  15. While this type of format allows for many types of "challenge" type games and convoluted tests that wouldn't normally be possible in a regular Balanced Hackmons battle, for this guide I will only be talking about a certain game type: The Level 9999 "metagame".
  16.
  17. ---
  18.
  19. ·How do I set my Pokémon to level 9999?
  20. Just follow these steps:
  21. 1. Open your teambuilder.
  22. 2. Select a Pokémon.
  23. 3. Click on Import/Export.
  24. 4. You will see a text field that resembles this:
  25.
  26.
  27. Marill
  28. Ability: Thick Fat
  29.
  30. Or, if you have many more details filled out, perhaps it will look more like this:
  31.
  32.
  33. Marill @ Eviolite
  34. Ability: Huge Power
  35. EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
  36. Adamant Nature
  37. - Play Rough
  38. - Aqua Jet
  39. - Waterfall
  40. - Knock Off
  41.
  42. In order to change the level to 9999, add the following line to this text field:
  43. Level: 9999
  44.
  45. So, for example:
  46.
  47. Marill @ Eviolite
  48. Ability: Huge Power
  49. Level: 9999
  50. EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
  51. Adamant Nature
  52. - Play Rough
  53. - Aqua Jet
  54. - Waterfall
  55. - Knock Off
  56.
  57. 5. Click Save.
  58. 6. Congratulations! Your Pokémon is now Level 9999.
  59. *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: DO NOT change anything in the "Details" field, because that will reset the level back to 100.
  60. *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: You technically _can_ set your Pokémon's level to a number above 9999, but this Pokémon's level will default back to 9999 once you send it into battle.
  61.
  62. ---
  63.
  64. ·How do I give my Pokémon 24 moves?
  65. This is another thing that requires the magic of Import/Export. Follow these steps:
  66.
  67. 1: Open your teambuilder.
  68. 2: Select a Pokémon. (You may wish to select the same Pokémon that you just changed to level 9999.)
  69. 3: Click on Import/Export.
  70. 4: Again, you should see something that resembles this:
  71.
  72.
  73. Marill @ Eviolite
  74. Ability: Huge Power
  75. Level: 9999
  76. EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
  77. Adamant Nature
  78. - Play Rough
  79. - Aqua Jet
  80. - Waterfall
  81. - Knock Off
  82.
  83. In order to add another move, simply add a line like this:
  84. - Move Name
  85.
  86. For example:
  87. - V-create
  88.
  89. Once you do this, this is what the text field should look like:
  90.
  91.
  92. Marill @ Eviolite
  93. Ability: Huge Power
  94. Level: 9999
  95. EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
  96. Adamant Nature
  97. - Play Rough
  98. - Aqua Jet
  99. - Waterfall
  100. - Knock Off
  101. - V-create
  102.
  103. Of course, don't stop at just 5 moves. Construct the ultimate moveset! You have 24 moveslots, so you have a lot of freedom:
  104.
  105.
  106. Marill @ Eviolite
  107. Ability: Huge Power
  108. Level: 9999
  109. EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
  110. Adamant Nature
  111. - Play Rough
  112. - Aqua Jet
  113. - Waterfall
  114. - Knock Off
  115. - V-create
  116. - Swords Dance
  117. - Spectral Thief
  118. - Catastropika
  119. - Horn Leech
  120. - Sacred Sword
  121.
  122. ...and so on, until you reach the maximum of 24 moves.
  123. *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: Choose your moves carefully! 24 moves may seem like a lot, but once you become familiar with this "metagame", you may find yourself wishing you had more moveslots.
  124. *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: Although it is technically possible to add more than 24 moves to your Pokémon, doing so is pointless; Once you send the Pokémon into battle, it will not load any more than the first 24 moves you added to its moveset.
  125.
  126. ---
  127.
  128. ·How do I have 252 EVs in every stat?
  129. This one's easy. Click on the "Stats" field on the selected Pokémon, and place the number 252 in every text field in the "EVs" column.
  130. *IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*: Although it is technically possible to change the EVs to a number higher than 252 using the Import/Export feature, there is no point in doing so; they will default back to 252 once you send the Pokémon into battle.
