  4.
  5. Jackie awoke the next morning very unrested. She didn't have much of a good night’s sleep after what had happened the night before. She was angry at everything and everyone including her self. She should not have let jealousy get the better of her like that, but it did. She checked her phone and found nothing but missed calls and texts from Marco.
  6.
  7. She texted him one more time asking him to meet her for breakfast at a local diner they frequent, it wasn't long before Marco replied that he'd meet her there.
  8.
  9. Jackie had not expected to lose her cool like that, but for as long as Marco wants to remain friends with Star she's going to have to get used to it, whether she likes it or not. Jackie knew one thing for sure; however, if she ever catches Star trying to put moves on Marco again, all bets are off. She got dressed and opened the door ready to head out and meet Marco when she opened her bedroom door and there, to her amazement, was Janna. She looked annoyed but then again she always looked annoyed.
  10.
  11. "You ready?" Janna asked.
  12.
  13. "For?" Jackie replied.
  14.
  15. "Seriously? We were going to go to the skate park and you were going to teach me how to skate," Janna said folding her arms.
  16.
  17. Jackie had totally forgotten about her, she had too much on her mind. "Janna, I'm so sorry, but I need to talk to Marco, last night I-"
  18.
  19. "Wait what happened to you?" Janna asked staring at her bruises.
  20.
  21. "Marco's puppy attacked me, they shoot lasers you know...and then I sorta attacked Star," Jackie said scratching her neck.
  22.
  23. Janna had to try not to smile, "Woah, woah, tell me everything right now."
  24.
  25. Jackie quickly gave her a recap of what had happened. Her expression didn't change much throughout, but Jackie could tell she was dangling on every word.
  26.
  27. "I told you about her," Janna muttered. "They may not have been a couple, but it was only a matter of time before she started getting hungry for the di-"
  28.
  29. "JANNA!!" Jackie shouted.
  30.
  31. "–The Diaz. God, Jackie, get your mind out of the gutter. You’re supposed to be a good influence on me," Janna said with a grin.
  32.
  33. Jackie rubbed her forehead, she was not in the mood right now for Janna's sense of humor.
  34.
  35. "You know that Marco won't cheat on you, right? Kid is so clueless a girl could practically slip her hands into his hoodie, steal his house keys, leave her used panties under his pillow and he still won't get the memo...you got lucky with him," Janna said in a matter of fact way.
  36.
  37. "That was very specific, Janna..." Jackie said narrowing her eyes at her.
  38.
  39. Janna just coughed nervously and broke eye contact.
  40.
  41. "And you know that I trust him but, tell you the truth, I'm still gonna get jealous of them. And after last night, I just don't know how long I can keep it together, I already snapped once," Jackie added.
  42.
  43. "You have no choice. You’re going to have to keep an eye on that girl, keep Marco away from her as much as you can until she gets over it or finds a new crush," Janna said chipping in with her advice. "Maybe tell Marco to move her out if you have to."
  44.
  45. "No, No, Janna I can't do that, at least not the last part. What sort of girlfriend would I be if I made him chose between me or his friend? That isn't cool on any level," Jackie sighed. "Although it would be easier if I could, admittedly."
  46.
  47. "You must really like Marco, huh? Hell, I barely see you anymore since you two started dating."
  48.
  49. Jackie stared off into the distance with a dreamy look on her face. "Yeah, he's so perfect in almost every way, and I just don't like him, I love him and–" but Jackie stopped mid-sentence, she realized something she hasn't properly done.
  50.
  51. "I need to go, Janna, I need to get to Marco, I don't want to keep him waiting. I promise will we hang out soon, okay?" Jackie said as she picked up her purse.
  52.
  53. "Fine, just don't let your guard down around Star, she's a clever one, that girl. If push comes to shove she will win. Hell, she'll probably just sprinkle some love potion into Marco's morning orange juice, next thing you know she has a baby bump and you are dating that freak with the keytar," Janna said with a huge smile as she waved bye to Jackie.
  54.
  55. "Yeah thanks, Janna, I'll keep that in mind," Jackie replied trying to ignore her. Except her words did stick to her, maybe on some f'ed up level she’s right? Jackie shrugged it off for now and headed out the door leaving Janna back in her bedroom.
  56.
  57.
  58. Janna grinned a sly smile even though she was alone. "That's one," she said to herself.
  59.
  60.
  61. At the diner, Jackie found Marco already there. Marco had already ordered their usual breakfast order. As soon as Jackie sat down they both started talking, much to their amusement. Jackie let Marco go first. Marco explained about him confronting Star and her admitting that she had a crush on him, and even he admitted that she did try to kiss him after all. However, he omitted the part about Star being in her underwear after seeing the flash of anger on Jackie's face.
  62.
  63. "So, you were right, but I'm begging you to let it go, please! I fully believe with time she’ll get over it, and I would never hurt you. I don't care how many times I have to say it," Marco pleaded with her.
  64.
  65. Jackie kissed his lips. "I know, Marco, I know. I may never get used to having a girl who's in love with you live in the same house, but I trust you."
  66.
  67. Marco blushed and changed seats sliding up next to her in the booth. He hugged her and kissed her cheek, whatever feelings of anger Jackie had quickly melted away as he kissed her, well almost all.
  68.
  69. "I get that she is your friend, but do you always have to be so quick to defend her? At least see things from my point of view first, every once in a while," Jackie said quietly.
  70.
  71. "Oh, it's not like I didn't get mad last night. She talk about us like we were soul mates, even when she does stuff to me that isn't very soulmate-ish, to say the least." Marco pushed Jackie's head onto his shoulder to cuddle her some more.
  72.
  73. "It's just that I understand how she feels, I spent ten years trying to get the courage to ask you out, all the while preparing myself for rejection in case you said no. And even with all that preparation if you had said no to me I guarantee you I'd still take it pretty bad for a while, even worse than Star is taking it right now." Marco said to Jackie hoping she'd understand.
  74.
  75. "If you had said ‘no’ she would have helped me get over you, and would have understood how bad I felt, to just turn on her when she is feeling as low as I could have been...it just not right to kick her while she's down." Jackie nodded, Marco was right, he always had a clear head on his shoulders, one of the reasons he's so perfect.
  76.
  77. "I already made it clear that I don't have any romantic feelings for her, it will be enough I promise," Marco added.
  78.
  79. Jackie nuzzled her cheek against Marco's, it tickled Marco so much he giggled.
  80.
  81. "Marco, there’s something else I need to say, something I haven't told you properly yet and for that I'm sorry...It's why I get as crazy as I do when I think of another girl with you," Jackie whispered into Marco's ear.
  82.
  83. "What is it?"
  84.
  85. "I love you, Marco, with all my heart," Jackie whispered again into his ear. Marco blushed and set her on his lap, he didn't care who saw.
  86.
  87. "I love you too Jackie," He said as he caressed her chin. The words were surprisingly easy to say and he meant it. They both leaned in for a kiss that lasted until the pancakes arrived.
  88.
  89.
  90. Back at the Diaz house Star was in her room. She had a minor freakout when she saw herself in the mirror. She yanked off all the Mewberty hearts; thankfully they weren't many and burned them with the wand to keep Marco from seeing them. She didn't want to worry him, but for now she had to keep herself from panicking.
  91.
  92. "Okay, Star, relax. You already went through Mewberty...it doesn't hit twice. Well, okay, rarely does it hit twice," She told herself.
  93.
  94. "It was the dream, it was the dream. I got really, really turned on because of the dream but that’s all it is, its over and it won't happen again," Star kept saying over and over. If she says it enough she will soon start to believe it. Star plopped herself back on her bed, and closed her eyes, her mind went back to her dream of Marco caressing every inch of her body as they kissed. Star stood back up before she could enjoy the memory and ran to her mirror, no hearts much to her relief, it only confirmed it was just a one-time thing. Stars stomach began to rumble, she hadn't had breakfast yet. She headed for her door and opened it, revealing Janna.
  95.
  96. "Janna, what the?" Star replied a little startled.
  97.
  98. "That's twice I've gotten the same reaction this morning. Interesting," Janna mused.
  99.
  100. "Uhm, how did you-"
  101.
  102. "Marco gave me a set of his house keys," Janna replied dangling them in front of Star.
  103.
  104. Star just suspiciously narrowed her eyes, something about that didn't sound right, but she was too hungry and distressed to care. Star made a mental note to change the locks with her wand or hire some eldritch horror security guard to stop Janna from getting into the house in the future.
  105.
  106. "If you are looking for Jackie she isn't here, Janna," Star finally said.
  107.
  108. "I'm not looking for Jackie. I just came to talk to you, actually. Heard it through the grapevine that you two got into a fight, I came to see if you were okay," Janna replied.
  109.
  110. "Oh, you know about that? Guess you didn't know it was with Jackie, why else you wouldn't be checking up on me?"
  111.
  112. "Oh my, with Jackie? What happened Star?" Janna said trying to sound surprised.
  113.
  114. Star gave her the short version. Janna looked like she was barely paying attention, however.
  115.
  116. "Don't tell Jackie I was here or that I said this, but you’re right. Anyone can see the bond between you two is real and goes beyond the love of a man and a woman. You've only been here a few months and you two can pass off as a old married couple, which is astounding," Janna said to Star putting an arm around her.
  117.
  118. "If Jackie and Marco had the same bond you two have, they would have started dating a long time ago. Or, at the very least, be able to talk to each other besides nod and act nervous." Jackie smiled. "But as soon as you looked into Marco's big sexy brown eyes I bet you saw the man that you would marry," Jackie added, coughing awkwardly when she described Marco.
  119.
  120. "Pfft, if only you could have told my past self that, I would never have let them become a couple," Star said in a sad tone.
  121.
  122. "Star, they aren't married. I bet they won't even date for more than a few months. The chances of him staying with her forever are slim to none; she is a crush and only a crush. He will have many, and you will, too," Janna told her.
  123.
  124. "Okay, okay, I get it! There's plenty of fish in the sea, I need to move on," Star replied.
  125.
  126. "I didn't say that either, if he is what makes you happy, then you need to take him back. It doesn't matter how long the relationship lasts...and who knows, maybe you will be that one crush that does win him forever. It does happen sometimes with these high school romances," Janna said letting go of Star.
  127.
  128. "There is no ring on his finger or hers, he is still fair game so get out there and fight for him Player Two. I believe in you, Star," Janna told Star who was now looking inspired.
  129.
  130. "I believe in Starco, not that lame Jarco thing they came up with," Janna added.
  131.
  132. "I know, right? It's so lame, and Starco huh? I like that, I like that a lot and one day it will be a reality!" Star said triumphantly. Stars stomach grumbled again, she asked Janna to join her for breakfast, but she declined to saying she had things to do.
  133.
  134. "Thanks for the pep talk Janna," Star said with glee as she headed downstairs with Janna.
  135.
  136. "Anytime friend. Remember, you get out there and get the Diaz!" Janna shouted back as she left the Diaz house and closed the front door.
  137.
  138. "And that's two," Janna said with a grin.
  139.
  140. This was all too easy, Janna thought she'd have to put more work into it, but she's barely had to lift a finger. For week's she's been ignored by her best friend to hang out with Marco, worse Marco himself, the boy she's loved since Elementary School, was now in the clutches of said best friend. To top it all off, now the magical girl that has only spent a few months with him is love with him too, and probably would have taken him for her self already if both hadn't been so clueless. The only person left out in the cold was Janna. Well, not anymore, if all goes according to plan. Jackie, Star and Marco will all implode eventually, by the time it's over they won't even want to be in the same room together. All she has to do is sit back and wait, minus the occasional push in the right direction from her. When all is said and done, Jackie will come back to her and she'll be a shoulder to cry on, and hell, Star just might give her the wand and go back to mewni for believing in her even though she failed.
  141.
  142. And Marco, poor lovable Marco; he will be crushed, shattered into a million pieces and alone. When that day comes Janna will be there to pick up those pieces, and at last Marco will be hers and ONLY hers.
  143.
  144. Janna Diaz; it still had a great ring to it.
