- Wishlist Ideas
- I wanted to contact you to let you know a couple of things from the wishlist episode are, in fact, a reality. (I know I'm behind the times, but I didn't see this in the feedback thread and I'm still catching up on podcasts from Christmas break.)
- 1. OpenMediaVault has a plugin for ZFS on Linux, and it uses DKMS. You need to go into the OMV-Extras.org section and enable the ZFS repos.
- 2. The OpenWRT project has firmware now for most of the Ubiquiti APs, and they just added Cisco Meraki MR12s and MR16s. This doesn't give you an open-source wireless cloud controller, but there's a cloud-based controller setup called Cucumber Tony that will allow you to control a number of OpenWRT devices through their setup. They are NOT open-source as far as I can tell, but their firmware is based on OpenWRT and they are at least an option to use cloud controller functionality across multiple hardware vendors.
- Anyway, just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that at least one wish came true a couple of years ago, and with OpenWRT on Ubiquiti and Meraki gear, maybe another one will come true a lot sooner than you might think. Thanks for the great shows!
