  1. Do not consider prayer and meditation (japam and dhyanam) as the pastime of freaks, geeks and cracks. Hold fast to them, for they alone can save you from ruin. - Baba
  2.
  3. All the pillars of religion such as knowledge and penance are present in totality in this Satya Yuga , though Meditation is the virtue accorded highest value

  7. The most important action towards an effective Meditation is maintaining a straight spine throughout the Meditation. A straight spine acts as an open conduit to easily raise the Kundalini, the upward free flow of spiritual energy to access the higher chakras. Kundalini has been called an unconscious, instinctive or libidinal force. What happens inside the spinal cord when you meditate is analogous to what happens to water in a tiny tube which rises up through Capillary action. Minimum duration of an ideal meditation is 30 to 60 minutes.
  8.
  9. Tools for meditation:
  10. 1. Something to uphold your spine straight as possible and support your chin/head (A wall to sit against, Upright sleeper like device which should enable you to rest/sleep in an upright spine position). Retract/Contract the belly inwards to align spine.
  11. 2. A way to breathe slowly either consciously or unconsciously in contemplation of Love/Purity/God.
  12. (To unconsciously breathe slowly (to force yourself), use an ear plug to your nose, closing one nostril air passage way to half its normal size). The conscious breath works like a pen on the mind's paper.
  13. 3. Caffeine (Coffee) to stay awake.
  14. 4. Water.
  15. 5. To cancel sound (ear plugs/mufflers) and light (sleep shade) as needed.
  16.
  17. Practical Objective of Meditation:
  18. Sleep is unconscious meditation. The benefit of sleep is known to every human.
  19. Meditation is Union with God, your Godself which is not your body nor mind.
  20.
  21. Wear red glasses and all things appear red. Wear the glasses of prema (love) and all will appear loveable and good. You get what you search for; you see what your eyes crave for. --Sai Baba
  22.
  23. The prime objective of meditation is to raise our spiritual energy to our highest chakra possible. It is partially a physical act, as sitting with a straight spine in silence for a minimum of 30 minutes daily, is enough to do half the work of raising the Kundalini. Once we start a day after having raised our energy to the higher chakras, all things that we see in the world are through the eyes of our higher self. Hence world will appear, feel and actually turn better, than if we were looking at it through the eyes of our lower self (lower chakras)

  33. The satisfaction that you get by participating in bhajans is temporary, whereas service confers permanent satisfaction. Time is the most precious gift of God, but you are wasting it in vain pursuits and unsacred feelings. Sanctify the time given to you by serving society. Through service alone you can get rid of worries, ego, pomp and show, and other evil qualities. (Divine Discourse, Aug 22, 2000) - BABA

  35. Those who have no taint of ego in them are totally free from the consequences of actions, regardless of the actions they perform. - Baba

  37. Paramahansa Yogananda wrote in God Talks with Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita that Krishna refers to and describes Kriya Yoga in the Bhagavad Gita: "Offering inhaling breath into the outgoing breath, and offering the outgoing breath into the inhaling breath, the yogi neutralizes both these breaths; he thus releases the life force from the heart and brings it under his control."

  49. The art of meditation is neither mindless drifting on the one hand nor fearful clinging to the past on the other. It consists in being sensitive to each moment, in regarding it as utterly new and unique, in having the mind open and wholly receptive.~ Alan Watts

  51. Meditation should not be regarded as a learning process. It should be regarded as an experiencing process. You should not try to learn from meditation but try to feel it. Meditation is an act of nonduality. The technique you are using should not be separate from you; it is you, you are the technique. Meditator and meditation are one. There is no relationship involved.-Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche
