  4. [2011-02-17 18::35:53] Ruru_Fields: exhales with a low groan as she brings the wounded and bleeding Kagemaru into the cages, stroking to the upholstery and murmuring little words of encouragement
  5. [2011-02-17 18::37:38] Doink: The Eva's wings lock into place, restraints engaging as its body sags, freed from the strain of keeping itself upright. Your sync begins to fade as you can see countless Techs racing around preparing things.
  6. [2011-02-17 18::38:38] Doink: Before you can exit, though, you can feel a mechanical lurch, as though the Eva is being lifted and swung around onto a new set of supports.
  7. [2011-02-17 18::39:02] Doink: Although the plug is no longer running, it does not seem to be ejecting as usual.
  8. [2011-02-17 18::39:36] Ruru_Fields: hmms curiously, wondering who is going to work on Kagemaru, he's never actually been damaged on one of these missions like this before. She keeps quiet, Dmitriy did promise her she could stay in the plug if it didn't need to be ejected after all.
  9. [2011-02-17 18::40:19] Doink: There's another jerk as the Evangelion is again locked into place, and then the sudden feeling of a very rapid descent.
  10. [2011-02-17 18::44:38] Doink: It seems to go on for a rather long time. The only indication of time you have is the blinking light of the emergency hatch release button, as the rest of the plug is powered down.
  11. [2011-02-17 18::45:38] Ruru_Fields: "Kagemaru? Where are we going?"
  12. [2011-02-17 18::47:51] Doink: There's no sort of reply.
  13. [2011-02-17 18::49:41] Doink: There's another jerk—hard enough to almost knock you out of your seat—and the Eva changes directions again. This journey is obviously not intended for a manned unit.
  14. [2011-02-17 18::54:31] Ruru_Fields: catches herself, barely, jostled with her feet splayed against the plug. Hmmm... Maybe going outside would be the better idea, use the emergency hatch and hide somewhere...
  15. [2011-02-17 19::20:41] Ruru_Fields: hits the hatch release, she climbs out, needing to see what they are traveling through. "This place is... way too big, nin." She says as she ties her scarf back around her mouth and while the eva is moving seeks to find a hiding place she can peek from.
  16. [2011-02-17 19::22:16] Doink: Outside, you can dimly make out the walls of some sort of tube-like tunnel sloping gently downwards. The only light comes from dim strips of halogen spaced at even intervals along it, which blur together as you pass.
  17. [2011-02-17 19::23:28] Doink: Your Evangelion is locked at a slight angle to a platform, mounted on a track attached to the tube wall. It appears to be unmanned, but there are catwalks around it you could stand on, and what looks like a cab near the back, by the 'wheels',
  18. [2011-02-17 19::24:32] Ruru_Fields: goes to inspect this cab as stealthily as possible.
  19. [2011-02-17 19::25:25] Doink: There's only one window in the cab, set into the small doorway. Inside is a small control panel. It seems to be running totally automated, though.
  20. [2011-02-17 19::25:35] Doink: The door does not appear to be locked.
  21. [2011-02-17 19::26:21] Ruru_Fields: me hides in there for now so long as she can get a good look at everythign going on, attempting to read the control panel without touchign anything.
  22. [2011-02-17 19::27:43] Doink: The controls are rather old-fasioned—a bunch of dials and switches measuring speed and position, as well as a small readout currently flashing "AUTOMATIC—IN TRANSIT"
  23. [2011-02-17 19::33:46] Ruru_Fields: will wait for something interesting to happen in her little hidey hole.
  24. [2011-02-17 19::34:51] Doink: After another few minutes of transit, the platform begins to slow. Suddenly, you can see the tunnel around you vanish as the track enters an open space.
  25. [2011-02-17 19::35:46] Doink: From what you can see, its big—you can't see the edges of it, only the ceiling above your head, which is a slate-grey plane high above you, identical to the floor you can make out in front of the platform.
  26. [2011-02-17 19::36:07] Doink: They're not flat, though. They seem to be strangely textured, somehow.
  27. [2011-02-17 19::37:25] Doink: The platform slows to a stop. There's a mechanical sound, and lights flash in the cabin as the Eva is lifted by an unseen mechanism from the platform. You can see some people hurrying over, dressed in the white uniforms of the Science division.
  28. [2011-02-17 19::42:33] Doink: As Kagemaru is lifted, you can finally get a better visual of the damage done to it. It's quite extensive—large portions of its chest armor are missing, revealing torn and mottled black flesh underneath that drips a thick, black ichor. Then it moves beyond your vision somewhere in the distance.
  29. [2011-02-17 19::43:05] Doink: The Science workers follow it. They wouldn't be able to see you on the platform, if you moved carefully
  30. [2011-02-17 19::49:39] Ruru_Fields: will make that move onto the platform and will pearch atop/near Kagemaru's head to watch. Black flesh? Ichor? What is this? What is Kagemaru made of?
  31. [2011-02-17 20::25:46] Ruru_Fields: grips ahold ot the roof of the cab and flips her legs over her head, lying on the belly upside down then twisting onto her back to curl upright from whence she vaults onto her partner with a slightly unsteady jump, but clears.
  32. [2011-02-17 20::26:39] Doink: Your Evangelion is lifted from its berth and carried a short distance over the grey expanse, you safely aboard a hollow near its shoulders. From this angle, you can make out the floor more clearly—what looked like a textured surface is actually a series of intricately linked symbols and glyphs that seem to cover it as far as you can see.
  33. [2011-02-17 20::29:09] Doink: After a moment, you are lowered into what appears to be an Eva-shaped hollow in the floor. Nearby, a tower-like structure stands—probably the source of the crane—with a large windowed control room at the top. It doesn't look like they can see you, though. The Evangelion touches down gently before the restraints on it are released, and it sags naturally into the hollow.
  34. [2011-02-17 20::30:22] Doink: "RELEASING RESTRAINTS," an amplified voice suddenly booms. "REMOVING ARMOR LOCKS. ALL PERSONNEL STAND BY FOR TEMPORARY RESTRAINT PROCEDURES."
  35. [2011-02-17 20::33:55] Doink: The ring of the hollow in which Kagemaru rests suddenly begins to glow a deep crimson. Strange metallic apendeges descend from the ceiling above and begin unlocking hidden connectors inside of the Eva's armor, removing the damaged pieces around its chest.
  36. [2011-02-17 20::34:14] Doink: You can hear a low moan begin to emerge from somewhere within its chest, underneath your feet.
  37. [2011-02-17 20::35:24] Ruru_Fields: pets to Kagemaru. "It's okay, I'm right here, don't get mad you might smoosh me on accident." She noses into the hollow because its hard to kiss through a mempo.
  38. [2011-02-17 20::38:38] Doink: You can feel the vibrations as the entirety of its chest armor is removed, the mechanical arms unscrewing supports that must go deep, deep inside of its body. Over the top of its chest, you can now plainly see the wound—for it is a wound, not a broken machine but a wounded animal, flesh tattered and seared and bleeding thick black liquid that puddles down its side, flowing in odd, unnatural motions too quick for its viscous state.
  39. [2011-02-17 20::40:02] Doink: "APPLYING TEMPORARY RESTRAINTS. PREPARING HEALING FACTOR. STAND BY FOR INITIAL S2 ENGINE IMPLANTATION."
  40. [2011-02-17 20::40:45] Doink: Metal bands spring from the floor, locking down over Kagemaru's wrists, ankles and midsection.
  41. [2011-02-17 20::41:22] Ruru_Fields: frowns a bit and just keeps petting Kagemaru as she watches.
  42. [2011-02-17 20::43:18] Doink: Another tendril descends from the ceiling. In its manipulator is a strange object, a glowing orb of shifting colors that looks far too familiar for comfort.
  43. [2011-02-17 20::44:27] Doink: "BEGINNING CONTAMINATION PROCEDURE. ALL PERSONNEL RETREAT TO SAFE ZONE. REPEAT. ALL PERSONNEL RETREAT TO SAFE ZONE."
  44. [2011-02-17 20::48:23] Doink: After a moment, the arm descends, /thrusting/ the orb into the hole in the Evangelion's chest.
  45. [2011-02-17 20::48:47] Doink: Kagemaru /screams/.
  46. [2011-02-17 20::50:49] Doink: It's a low, bestial roar of pain and rage, emanating from deep within its armored shell. It begins to thrash, its movements limited by the thick metal bands binding it to the floor.
  47. [2011-02-17 20::52:39] Ruru_Fields: is jostled and hops, gripping and moving over her eva's shoulder as best she can, keeping in place with enuous toeholds and just a few fingers before she's able to get into a solid position.
  48. [2011-02-17 20::54:47] Doink: The flesh of your Eva's chest begins to writhe, losing all resemblance of skin and sinew, a mass of black ichor attempting to push out the invasive orb. Strange appendages, maws, and eyes sprout from the mutating flesh only to vanish a mere instant later.
  49. [2011-02-17 20::56:29] Doink: But the orb holds fast. Lines of shifting light begin to pierce through the writhing, shifting mass. It begins to lose its shape and settle again.
  50. [2011-02-17 20::59:58] Ruru_Fields: recoils in horror, watching and trembling as they invade Kagemaru's flesh with the alien artifact. Someone will have to explain this.
  51. [2011-02-17 21::00:29] Doink: "CONDITION STABILIZING. CONTAMINATION WITHIN ACCEPTABLE PARAMETERS. INJECTING HEALING FACTOR."
  52. [2011-02-17 21::01:58] Doink: The Arm recedes, leaving its strange cargo still imbedded in the Evangelion's chest. Another descends, driving a long, thin needle into the settling flesh. After a moment, it has totally solidified, and you can see the 'flesh' beginning to heal around the orb, still protruding a short bit from the center of its chest.
  53. [2011-02-17 21::03:38] Doink: "S2 INTRODUCTION SUCCESSFUL. SELF-HEALING PROCESS INITIALIZED. PERSONNEL MAY NOW RE-ENTER THE TESTING FLOOR."
  54. [2011-02-17 21::05:52] Doink: Kagemaru is no longer struggling. If one was to anthropomorphize it, you would think it was sleeping. The red ring around its body shifts to blue. In the distance, you can see the white-uniformed technicians approaching.
  55. [2011-02-17 21::07:24] Doink: If you do not conceal yourself or move, they will likely spot you soon.
  56. [2011-02-17 21::17:28] Ruru_Fields: "Are you okay Kagemaru?" She asks as she moves to find a better hiing spot, moving away form the gazes of the cruel technicians and their needles and alien engines.
  57. [2011-02-17 21::20:17] Doink: There's still armor on the shoulders, which has some convenient nooks and crannies. The technicians survey the Evangelion for a few minutes, taking notes on their tablets, before heading back towards the tower.
  58. [2011-02-17 21::20:44] Doink: Your Evangelion doesn't respond. It seems totally dormant—the only sign of 'life' the slow re-growth of the flesh on its chest.
  59. [2011-02-17 21::23:51] Ruru_Fields: "I'm going to see what's going on, you rest up Kagemaru, I'll come for you soon."
  60. [2011-02-17 21::26:06] Ruru_Fields: gets up and moves out from Kagemaru's shadow. Picking her way across the giant she waits untill everyone has left then bolts for the tower, seeking unseen entrance.
  61. [2011-02-17 21::27:03] Doink: There's a wide doorway set into its base. There's no visible mechanism, but it slides open with a soft hiss as you approach.
  62. [2011-02-17 21::27:32] Doink: Inside is a long, narrow room, its sides covered in what seem like lockers. It's currently empty.
  63. [2011-02-17 21::33:11] Ruru_Fields: check to see if the lockers are unlocked, if so she looks for identification, names, information.
  64. [2011-02-17 21::33:27] Ruru_Fields: One done with that she will move to the next door.
  65. [2011-02-17 21::34:53] Doink: Most are locked, but some are open. They seem to just contain jackets and shoes and the like. A few still contain white Science Department jackets.
  66. [2011-02-17 21::35:57] Doink: There is an ID left in one of them, though. For a Mrs. Annette Jackson. Science Division, Clearance level Beta.
  67. [2011-02-17 21::38:47] Ruru_Fields: pockets the ID, such a score, and moves to leave the room.
  68. [2011-02-17 21::41:13] Doink: On the other side of the room is another door. It slides open, just like the previous, to reveal a winding stairwell, both up the tower and down somewhere beneath it.
