  2. The conference call participants identify themselves - Josh from Emtanon, Robert Bramble (aka Robby) and Nick "from sysops". They were also expecting an Emtanon engineer called Steven to connect from Alaska but he hasn't shown for the call. They decide to wait for him for a few minutes and Josh makes small talk with Robert.
  3.
  4. Things haven't been good for Robert but "I guess better now". Robert's been having some trouble at work. Josh says that J called him into his office today, and doesn't think he'd admit it if asked, but J looks "kind of ex-military" and "certainly presents himself like that". Robert says that he took some time off for a while and went to the Phillippines. Josh says that must have been nice, but Robert says he was "kind of occupied and it wasn't that fun for me". He says that "work kind of caught up with me... we had a bit of a problem at work and I don't really want to go into it, I just had to get out of here, something really bad happened here". Nick chips in "that's an understatement!". Robert says he laid low for a while and they "eventually caught up with me, actually turns out that I wasn't the guy that they thought was leaking information" and they told him to return to work and he's now "back in Denver".
  5.
  6. They decide to commence without Steven. Robert asks Josh about the bootloader. Josh says that they're doing final testing at the moment. Robert says that he's still getting up to speed, but there's a lot of concern as Emtanon said it would take a week, and it's now been several weeks. He asks if they can have an interim release or "get what you have so far". Josh says that Robert will have to talk to Steven when he connects to the conference. Robert says that "management are not too happy about this thing". He says "I don't know what you guys are doing, I think there was an upgrade for ABISM maps" and adds that someone loaded a license key onto AS36, and it's asking to push the reset key. He says that they "can't just waltz down the street and push the reset key, AS36 is not an entirely accessible location at times, got a lot of deep snow and so forth, it's a remote unmanned site". He asks if Emtanon can patch around the need for a reset key, mentions that they had a field agent run the code that Emtanon provided and that they forwarded the numbers they got out of it to Emtanon, but then laughs and says he's "kind of lost here". He asks when Emtanon will be done with their work.
  7.
  8. Josh says that Steven was supposed to answer these questions and he's not sure. He asks a question about the update and says something about "snow on satellite dishes" (hard to hear). Robert says he wasn't the guy who loaded it and he doesn't know. He asks Sysops if any of them loaded it. Nick speaks up and says he was under the impression that "that was a *something* update" and that "I can't push updates to it either". Robert says that the only thing he can do is "change the mode, and I've got a list of modes". He can do modes 1-6 but he doesn't know what mode 6 is.
  9.
  10. Nick asks if it's not done by HF anymore. Josh says that HF isn't used anymore for that, and they don't think it's an option to get someone down there.
  11.
  12. Robert says that right now they're using "AS27 which is a pile of junk". Josh replies that AS27 is "a completely different animal from the other AS series, it's like reading a book backwards in the mirror, or reading the Koran, once you get used to it it's fine". Robert laughs in the background a lot at this, but Nick says that he's worried "AS27 is going to shit itself in the middle of something" and mentions they already had a major problem with it. Josh asks if they got a dump of the memory and says he'll pass it on to the dev team. Nick says they were more concerned about "getting the thing running at the time". Robert adds that "AS27 is great for announcements, but that's all it does". He tells Nick to "call it for yourself" and says it's the "720 897 number". He says right now the field agents are using that and they're "bitching and complaining" about using it and they can't use agent codes on it, but he says he doesn't want to talk about AS27 anymore for now.
  13.
  14. Robert returns to talking about AS36 and says that all he is able to do on AS36 is change the modes right now. He has "cut-through mode, conference bridge mode, announcement mode, forward mode, disconnect mode, and some other crap". He asks if they can have a field agent program something else in, but Josh says they'd definitely have to have someone there if they want to reset it, as that's one of the security features. Robert asks if they can provide some code and says he knows they're limited by the bootloader image size. Josh replies that he doesn't have a code for him, but says he thinks they can push code to it remotely. Robert says that J is "not happy with you guys and he might give you a call later today". Josh says that there's an "extraordinary circumstance" and usually they don't have this problem. Robert replies that they outsource this because they expect things to be done very fast and that's the normal arrangement they have. He says "we're not scrimping on cost here". He says that "they're asking me to ask you guys for the source code". Josh sounds surprised and says "really?". Robert says "we need the source code when you provide the hex dump or whatever you guys are doing". Josh says that he'll see what he can do. Robert says he also needs "the MXP20 manual and documentation". Josh asks if Robert has a fax that he can send it to. Robert says that they need "THE book and not just some shitty fax". Josh asks if there's a physical address they can send it to, and Robert hurriedly replies "no no, no no, let's not do that, just use the drop agent". He says that first and foremost he needs the hex code and the source code with it, and he doesn't want them to wait to include the book, but that Josh also needs to arrange to drop off a copy of the book somewhere.
  15.
  16. Nick says that he wants to add, "when you say the source code, we need the actual stuff that goes into compiler and not an annotated text output which we got once". Josh asks for confirmation. Nick says "we just need the source code and the hex dump". Robert says "make sure the source code has comments on it because otherwise that's gonna be useless to us" and they're already going to have to "take a look at the MXP20 and figure out what the hell we're doing". Josh says this will have to be cleared with the GM so it may take a few days. Robert replies that the priority is the hex and the source code and anything else can come later. Josh says that the only thing they can do immediately is to provide the book and they can "get a drop out to you pretty soon". Robert says that the book would be nice, but the immediate priority is the source code and they need it "right now", and he says to make sure it's compiled and to staple the source code to "some sort of hex dump that we can key in and get this damn thing running".
  17.
  18. Nick asks if they have the paperwork for a change request and says they sent it over and haven't got it back yet. Josh asks if that's something to do with the source, and Nick sounds exasperated and says no, they requested the change request for the period of time for delivery, and they were supposed to return the paperwork but they don't have that back yet. Josh says he will try to find out about it.
  19. Robert then says he has someone on the phone (sounds like he says J? or John?) and says he has something to ask him. ABISM tones are heard in the background. He asks "what is the password for backdoor?". Nick says "is it the one that's just like, password but with the 4s and the 455, that one?" Robert says no, it's from the ABISM login prompt, and says he's trying to get his accounts all set up again. Robert thinks for a bit and looks at some paper or a book and then says he remembers what it was. We then hear him entering it into ABISM followed by a stream of ABISM tones for some time.
  20.
  21. Robert then speaks again and says that if he goes into backdoor and gets AS36, it connects and it says "mode select". He asks "can we only put in 1 through 6 or does it accept other commands?" Josh says he doesn't think it does.
  22.
  23. Josh then says before they finish, which region should the drop be sent out to? Robert replies that region 10 would be best and asks if Steven is still in Alaska. Josh says yes. Robert says to drop it in region 10 and they'll get someone to pick it up there and "that way it'll be a really quick handoff". During this conversation someone joins the conference call and then disconnects, Nick and Josh ask who that was and Robert says it was probably just "a field agent dialling or something". Robert says that's about it and asks if they can schedule a follow-up call for Thursday so he can get a status report on what's happening. There's a weird noise on the conference call, and Josh asks "did you say that was one of your field guys?" Robert responds that this number gets a lot of calls.
  24. Josh says they can do the follow-up call at the same time as today, and Robert agrees.
  25.
  26. Nick speaks up and says he has a "side question", says that he thinks AS27 is on its last legs. He says they've been seeing line issues and says he thinks it's "the line cards". Josh asks for the AS27 access number, and Robert says "720897". Josh says something about how it says on the account that they should have a link from the "Denver Centurylink" (background noise at this point, so hard to hear). Nick says that they've been getting " a lot of warnings on that thing" and his feeling is that "it's the hardware that's going". Josh says that the very earliest hardware generations sometimes had trouble on it, and says they can "get some new cards out to you". He says "it's not going into red alarm mode, is it?" and Nick replies that he thinks it will. Josh says it sounds like some of the cards might be a little old, and Nick laughs and says "old, are you talking software versions old, or is this a hardware revision that's known to be problematic?" Josh replies that the very first hardware revisions worked at the time but that the parts didn't age very gracefully. Nick asks if they're going to get a firmware update, and sarcastically says that they'll get that within two days and everything will be fine and they won't have any more problems. Josh reassures him that they won't have any more trouble after that. Robert then asks if Emtanon will put a lock on the firmware update, and Josh says yes. Robert says he doesn't want "any randoms coming in on 202999 and destroying our new firmware". He asks if Steven will definitely be able to make the conference call on Thursday and Josh says yes. Robert says he's got no more questions, and the three of them end the call and disconnect. The sound of a car is heard before the final person disconnects.
  27.
  28. Robert then comes back onto the call, and mumbling to himself, changes the modes on AS36. Some ABISM tones are heard, and the conference call is then ended.
