iirc both hoshi and tachi said that this song is Kakkoii (TM) in their cast comments
i find masaki erica's lyrics to be pretty challenging to translate into english so mNN I did my best!!!!!
i believe this is the Zero Cover song that re:v was talking about in part 2 (ZERO CHITEN E TO TURN..........) so instead of 'we' it's an 'i' because Zero was a solo star. \o/ in my original (unposted bc i was busy af in june-july ugh) TL of the short version, it was all 'we's' and then i finished translating part 2 and yeAH
these lyrcs are vague as hell and u know what I have no clue what the pronouns are doing because there's a bokura at some point and im just like ??????? Saa................... Did re:v adapt the lyrics to be a 2-person narrative or ???
Pretty straight forward for the most part! I did most of the hard stuff with the chorus when I first translated it (pats self on back for getting a mostly correct by-ear transcription)
There's a lot of restructuring. A lot. Mostly putting some small bits into the line before or line after, etc. Nothing that should affect meaning!
I did a lot more repeating the same thing but with different denotations (hence the copious comma usaGE) mostly because one definition isn't enough, and also for ~Flow~
I am so sorry for how redundant first line of chorus is but I legit cannot think of anything better /o\
Uh, don't ask me why it goes "Dis one." --> "This one." if I knew i would not have stared at my lyrics booklet for a good 5 seconds going ??????????????
And yes the original verses go on forever in the lyrics booklet and are one big line (masaki-san why do u do this plesa.............. spare me......................)
求めてるのは - can also mean seeking out, searching for. General 'wanting.'
I genuinely don't have much to comment in terms of TL bc this is one of Masaki-san's kinder works ... wish me luck when I do perfgim :')
SPOILERS FOR PART 2 (IGNORE THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT IN ITS ENTIRETY): Assuming this is Zero's song (probably), I wonder if this was his last one? Nevertheless, this gives the 'zero cracked under all the pressure and disappeared' in-canon theory some weight... The verses tell a story of someone at a very, very high place all alone. "Why is it so cold under these spotlights?" "I learned of loneliness" "The world was much too bright for me, I couldn't handle it." "Where is the exit?" "Those rules were constricting" Man this song oscillates between hopeful and downright despair, desolation. I keep thinking about Momo's line on how love is sometimes what hurts an idol the most, since we see it in his case, we see it with TRIGGER (v much so in 16), we see it with i7. I am in Pain.... I feel like some of this may be about Kujou-san? Anyways, just some food for thought. I can definitely see why Re:vale chose this song to cover.
