  1. Welcome to Children's Books on Tape! My name is Steven, and the book I have chosen to read today is "Albert Einstein, Genius of the Twentieth Century," written by Patricia Lakin and illustrated by Alan and Lea Daniel. The author is the person who creates the story and puts it to words. The illustrator is the person who creates the drawings and pictures that go along with the story.

  3. The illustrations use muted and contrasting colors and the pictures really let you know how the characters are acting and feeling. The story is interesting because makes you think about how other people think about the world, and it shows you why some really interesting things, such as light, works the way it does.

  5. I will cue you when it is time to change the page with this sound: _play sound_. When there are pauses during the pages that I read to you, please take a moment to enjoy the illustrations. So, find a comfortable place, like a favorite chair, couch or your cozy bed, and a favorite friend like a teddy bear or your pet, and sit back, relax, and enjoy "Albert Einstein, Genius of the Twentieth Century," by Patricia Lakin. _play sound_.

  11. Albert Einstein was a very influential man in history, because his mind found answers to questions that form the basis for many of the things we know today. Did you find his discoveries to be interesting? Things like the speed of light and the theory of relativity may seem really tough to you, but they are helping us better understand the universe, and how to reach out and become a part of it! If you have ever wanted to be an astronaut, their job is possible today in part because of Mr. Einstein's work!
