  1. The Lord Inquisitor finally raises a hand to settle down the chattering and murmurs. Then, he moves to speak. "My fellow people, my scholars young and old, my warriors and squires, my faithful and abstained, I'm moved to see you all converged here in this coming week of Armasse. I.." The sky above them, once a summer's blue sky with not a cloud muddling it seeps in with a bloody, running orange and red.
  2.
  3. Rath Khulainn instinctively bares his teeth and starts looking around, eyes darting wildly.
  4.
  5. A screeching whirr of energies resonates from the east, as eyes look that way from the higher land, they can see the remains of the exploded Wardstone flying out into the air. The wardstone that kept the demons out. The wardstone that allowed Kenabres to celebrate this close to the front.
  6.
  7. Tia: "What--!"
  8.
  9. All at once, a tumultous chittering and roars of the legions of the foul echo and spill into the city. Appearing from nothing. In response, a deep roar calls back and from the crowd, an unassuming elderly woman in silver chain becomes a great silver wyrm to defend her city.
  10.
  11. Terendelev will not let her crusaders fall!
  12.
  13. Rath Khulainn opens his eyes wide, awed at the mighty creature's display, his heart soaring to see such majestic power.
  14.
  15. The crusaders had their champion! The demons had nothing but hordes to throw at the impenetrable walls!
  16.
  17. Lorelei Aldenwood gulps, very audibly.
  18.
  19. Rath Khulainn raises his fists with a loud roar as he sees Terendelev.
  20.
  21. The crowd ebbs and flows, making it difficult to run to the gates or into combat!
  22.
  23. Lorelei Aldenwood clasps her book and begins to try to book it towards the gates. Her eyes wide in absolute terror as she tries to push through the masses, her teeth clenching in absolute fear.
  24.
  25. Dossentistania just gawps for a long moment in disbelief at the sudden absurdity of it all.
  26. The earth shakes, as if the next foreboding roar that echoed for miles made the planet shudder in fear.
  27.
  28. Lucius pulls on the donkey's reigns and takes a defensive posture. He rests a hand on the hilt of his rapier and stares in awe.
  29.
  30. Artemy is just going to slowly back out of the crowd as best he can: Things seem to have really spun out of control very quickly, and he needs to at least make sure he isn't trampled! There's at least one guy in this crowd that looks like he could do it, too! Really, he's just going to stare at the living spectacle and jostle and be jostled by other people.
  31.
  32. Rath Khulainn tries to push his way to the front--failing that, he won't be moved a step back, not if it means missing this!
  33.
  34. Khorramzadeh the Storm King, the thunderous Balor Lord himself appears as the out most wall crumbles with his fist. The two great champions fling their bodies into battle, Khorramzadeh's hooves throwing aside entire houses at a time as they charged for the silver dragon. Khorramzadeh allows the demon hordes to start spilling in with the path way opened!
  35.
  36. Lorelei Aldenwood starts breathing VERY heavily and turns around, attempting to fight past the crowds away from the battle and towards the temple.
  37.
  38. The ground finally gives way to the two champion's combinded wrath as massive fissures erupt through the city, engulfing entire market places full of people into the unforgiving world below.
  39.
  40. Rath Khulainn roars out loud as the sounds of battle reach his ears, and looses his sword from its place on his back, holding it above the crowd as he starts to shoulder his way through the fleeing people.
  41.
  42. The city fills with a collective scream as each new fissure explodes into being.
  43.
  44. Tia holds a place, trying to direct the panicking locals to move in a single direction.
  45.
  46. Lucius: "What would mother do?"
  47.
  48. Khorramzadeh's mere presence causes commonfolk to become nothing other an an obstruction for the crusaders attempting to battle back.
  49.
  50. Artemy: "This is real, right? This isn't some sort of elaborate festival performance?!", it might be in very poor taste to ask this, but well...he doesn't know! This is crazy! Okay, it's real, right? He's going to pull out his axe and die bravely. Yeah, that's probably for the best....he just has to figure out WHICH WAY TO GO so he can actually fight! There's too many people in the way! ....So he's just going to have to sort of slog through towards other people who look like they're fighting.
  51.
  52. Khorramzadeh finally hits a sounding blow upon the female's scales with their flaming whip, sending the massive dragon flying back to sunder in the inner most walls.
  53.
  54. Lorelei Aldenwood: "E....E-eeeeeiiii!"
  55.
  56. Lucius wipes his brow with a trembling hand and ducks behind a building with his donkey. He rifles through his packpack and begins changing.
  57.
  58. Fissures begin to open up on the other side of the plaza, bringing down the smaller cathedral.
  59.
  60. Lorelei Aldenwood: "We're not supposed to be losing here! This is our turf! W-we're going to die... I came all the way here just to die!!!"
  61.
  62. Dossentistania joins in Tia's efforts to direct people away from Bad Things Happening, though she's never met the other woman before. She's awfully loud when she bellows, for a not very tall woman.
  63.
  64. Terendelev has begun bleeding out and moves to rise but meets the Storm King's foot to her jaw once more. She goes stumbling back further more, throwing people aside instead of crushing them with a merciful wing beat.
  65.
  66. Rath Khulainn gradually pushes his way along, taking long minutes to get to what should take moments. He feels panic build in his heart as he sees the dragon fall.
  67.
  68. Khorramzadeh: [Abyssal] "Kenabres, the shining sword and the last stop for crusaders on the trail, you've always called it that."
  69. [Abyssal] "I'll make you an honest woman, Terendelev. This IS the last stop for your crusaders."
  70.
  71. Rath Khulainn feels like he might as well be a flea looking up at men. Just the noise of that voice feels like it's pushing him down, for however much he tries to stand and keep his sword raised.
  72.
  73. Lorelei Aldenwood seems to have more or less accepted her fate. Absolutely paralyzed in fear of the massive demon in front of her. The studies she'd engaged in didn't tell her anything about the ferocity that this thing possessed. It was like a god compared to them. To the point that there wasn't anything that a mere ant like her could do besides make sure her last moments were somewhat calm ones.
  74.
  75. Khorramzadeh raises a molten greatsword in the air and plunges it through the great cathedral spewing the burning remains in through the crowd and making two last massive fissures through the plaza.
  76.
  77. Lucius calmly emerges from his hiding spot and joins two women in directing people out of the inner city while keeping any eye out for more threats.
  78. The earth beneath the six of you along with many others gives out. Most of these people are lost in smaller cracks or become incarcerated all at once from the immense heat of their blade filling the fissures faster than they could fall.
  79.
  80. Rath Khulainn throws out his arms and yells a challenging war cry towards the demon (as if it could even notice him) with all his might. If he's going to die, he might as well make this last moment count.
  81.
  82. Terendelev leaps forward as the Storm King moves in to finish the beaten dragon off like a criminal at the chopping block. Her talon too hurt to grasp and fling off anyone, but enough to brush her beautiful scales against the six lucky ones (you guys).
  83. --SHINK--
  84. Terendelev is no more with the Storm King's blade lobbing her head clean off to fall into the fissure with you.
  85.
  86. Artemy will FINALLY at last work himself through the crowd to a little ways behind Rath, who is a very convenient person to be able to pick out in a horrified crowd, thanks to his height. If he must die, this is probably as good as place as......oh, wow. This isn't a glorious death at all. Yup, that's gonna be his last thought, isn't it?
  87.
  88. Dossentistania nods at Irina... then double-takes at the woman's weird bird get-up. Somehow that strikes her attention almost as mu—OH WAIT EVERYBODY'S GONNA DIE AAAA
  89.
  90. Lorelei Aldenwood had closed her eyes at this point, her hands clasping around her tome fiercely, practically begging for the terrible fate to take her already.
  91.
  92. Tia goes down into the fissure underfoot, the last vision in her mind that of the great silver dragon's head tumbling free of her neck, the serpentine body falling limp.
  93. The air below you becomes light after her final move. A beginner caster could identify the effects as "feather fall", yet you still fall with enough force to clonk your heads and bodies against the exposed rock walls and falling debris soon making you slip into unconsciousness.
  94.
  95. You're not sure how long you fall.
  96.
  97. Rath Khulainn feels numb even before he falls unconscious.
