  1. Kaizen surveyed the small hut, checking each nook and cranny for the ceremonial square mats that he had bought long ago. His attention turned towards the two drawers, aligned against the wall. Between the two were the objects he had searched for. With each hand, he’d carry them back to the center of the room. One for himself, one for Guy. Dust was sent flying as he flapped the mat in the air, attempting to clean it the best he could. He’d let it slam onto the wooden floor below, before stepping on top of it.

  4. His butt found its home atop the mat, his legs folded into a criss-cross position. Each hand lay on each knee, his body directly in front of where Guy sat. He’d hope Guy would follow his lead and sit atop the mat he’d searched for. He removed one hand from his knee, taking off the shades that rest on his curved nose and putting them on the wood floor next to him. He needed to recreate the same energy that had flowed through him before, the one that his master had given to him long ago. Kaizen had no idea how he managed to summon this peaceful Ki, he only remembered how it felt to have it pour through him. It was like a virus, or at least he thought. A virus that he could spread from one person to another, a virus that he could control. All he had to do was find this ‘Virus’ embedded deep within.

  7. “I need you to stay calm.” Kaizen whispered, although it was easy to hear in the deafening silence that the room had been placed in. Kaizen’s eyes, tired and old, shut in a snap. The wrinkles around each eye seemed to shake, and underneath each eyelid was rapid movement, as if he was looking at something still. He was searching for something, digging deep into his brain for some sort of memory or recollection of the last time he felt this energy. It was peaceful, benevolent. This energy was different than the one he would wield in battle, although miles stronger.

  10. Minutes turned into hours of silent meditation from Guy’s mentor, and the only sound he would make would be that of concentrated, heavy breathing. But, as if struck by lightning, all three of Kaizen’s eyes popped open. Wide-eyed and dazed, the pupils contracted while still focused on Guy. The concentrated breathing halted, instead forming into hampered sighs. Kaizen had found the ‘energy’ that he’d longed to find once again. It took hold of him, enveloping him in a gloss-white aura. The wood panels beneath him shook and cracked, deteriorating to reveal the sand that the hut stood on. The sand slapped the surrounding room, painting the blue walls yellow.

  13. The breathing continued to intensify alongside the aura. It grew and grew, touching the roof above. Like a magnet, it attracted itself to Guy. The top would consume his young apprentice, beginning with his head down to his feet. The panels beneath him would shake and crack as well, creating an effect similar to his masters. Both the aura’s that Kaizen generated kicked up wind and dust, almost generating enough power to knock down the hut that they sat in. The ‘virus’ that Kaizen found was unlocked once more and passed to Guy. He’d only react, and accept the gift he would receive.
