What is community service?
	Community service is when you help people in your community or clean up around your community. An example of community service is picking up trash from the ditches by the roads. When you clean up around your community, it is considered community service. Community service is when you volunteer for no pay to help other people. Another example of community service is when you go to foster homes and you see the foster kids. That way of community service could make a huge difference on the foster kid’s lives. Helping people in any way without expecting anything in return, is community service.
	There are many things that you could gain from doing community service. You could gain respect from people because you did something in return for your community. You could also gain a feeling of self-worth or a boost in self-confidence because you have just done something very important to a lot of people.
	Some good things about community service are that you can learn a lot about yourself, the government, and the people in your community. You can learn material that could help you all throughout your life. Community service can also give you a good thing to put on your resume for a job because it will show that you learned new skills.
	Most high schools in the United States need a certain amount of hours of community service to get a diploma. Community service is important in your everyday life. In JROTC, community service is very important because it shows who we are as cadets. In the army, the soldiers contribute a lot to our community by protecting our freedom. So, as army cadets, we need to represent the army and do community service to help our country.
	When you do community service for people, it can make other people feel respected and important. When you do things for other people without expecting anything in return, you have showed them that you care and that can make some people feel reassured. When you clean up your community, it can make other people happy because it shows them that people still care about how their community is represented.
