---What is G-Reco?---
Who's making it:
Gundam Reconguista in G is the thirteenth Sunrise Gundam series. It's headed by Yoshiyuki Tomino who originally started the franchise, and began development in 2007. G-Reco isn't just a war drama, but features themes of love, romance, exploration and adventure. It airs in a later timeslot but the director would like "kids" (including young adults who watch late night anime)to watch it, and said in an interview that his usual fans were too old to get it. However his staffer Ogata later said that he was just being tsundere. Tomino is notorious for making silly, inflammatory statements to raise publicity. Read Gundam Sousei the manga if you want to get inside the bald bastard's head.

When is it set:
G-Reco is set in the Regild Century, year 1014. This timeline takes place after the end of the Universal Century, the timeline Gundam started with, from the first series to Victory Gundam and G-Savior. Regild Century still takes place before Turn-A's Correct Century occurs. In our language, the RC is thousands of years in the far future.

What is the world like:
The world of RC 1014 is one of recovery. After the Universal Century concluded with a series of violent space wars, Earth was left wracked by starvation and ecological collapse. A similar level of destruction occurred in orbit and the colonies that once surrounded the planet have gone. Having ridden out this nightmare, the people of Earth clustered around an area in the Amazon (the last green place on the planet at the time) and construct the Capital Tower, a massive space elevator. Around this structure a religion emerges, where energy-carrying Photon Batteries come down from space and power society. This is SU-Cordism.

What is SU-Cordism:
SU-Cord, short for Space Umbilical Cord, is a religion built around the idea that the Capital Tower administers batteries to guide humanity and forbids unchecked technological growth and scientific advancement. The reason behind this is to prevent the mistakes of the past and the proliferation of dangerous weaponry like Mobile Suits. SU-Cord is also used as a swear by SU-Cordists.

Who are the factions:
Capital Territory- The people who make up the worshippers of the Capital Tower, covering the top of the South American Continet. They have a large amount of wealth and power thanks to their status of controlling the supply of Photon Batteries in the world. The Capital Tower is defended by the Capital Guard until recently.
Ameria- A powerful nation in the Americas. Recently began building up their military and violating the taboos on research and development. Currently trying to usurp the Capital Territory's control and energy monopoly. Engaged in a land war with Gondwan.
Gondwan- A nation in Europe. Allied with the Capital Territory, at war with Ameria. Are also secretly violating the taboos and built a spaceship.
Izanel- The nation nearest to the Capital Territory. Seem to be happy under the Capital Territory's boot for now.
Towasanga- A mythical colony located at the top of the Capital Tower in space. Worshipped by the SU-Cordists as a "holy land" and is the source of the Photon Batteries. Believed to be the origin of the G-Self and the Rose of Hermes Blueprints. Recent astronomical observations have revealed serious industrial buildup on the moon's surface and in orbit. In reality, Towasanga is a lunar colony which handles the technical arm of human civilization. Based on a massive orbital colony called Cyrano 5, the people of Towasanga produce Photon Batteries and exert control over Humanity. Currently Towasanga is split into three sub-factions: The Hazm Government, the Dollete Fleet, and the Resistance.

What are the G-Self and the Rose of Hermes blueprints:
About a week before the first episode, a mysterious mobile suit comes down from the sky. Piloted by a dark-skinned girl who's been unable to shed any light on it, the G-Self is a highly-advanced weapon that seems to have a will of its own. Only able to be piloted by three individuals so far, the G-Self is compatible with equipment produced from the Rose of Hermes blueprints. These blueprints were received by both Ameria and the Capital Territory's research division, and have resulted in incredible technological advancements. It is believed that the blueprints originate from Towasanga. Products of the Rose of Hermes are known as G-Types. The truth however is that the G-Self is an advanced scout mecha called the YG-111, and was while being deployed by the Dollete Fleet on a recon mission with Raraiya at the helm it was secretly implanted with a control program to detect and locate the heirs to the Rayhunton family.

---History and Current Events---
As of ep 16:

>Before the series began, Ameria and Gondwan began to expand their territory, eventually coming to blows. They were held back in both industry and warfare by their dependence on Photon Batteries from the Capital Territory.

>Towasanga, the lunar colony, was split between two rival families, the Dolletes and the Rayhuntons, both with significant influence. The Dollete's viewpoint was that the technology of Towasanga could be used to take control of the Earth and facilitate the return of the Towasangans to the bountiful Earth. The Rayhuntons believed in SU-Cordism and refused to interfere with the plan. This stalemate led to in-fighting and the Rayhunton family was erased, with sympathizers secreting the two remaining Rayhunton family members to Earth as orphans. With the Rayhuntons out of the way, the Dollete family began to raise a fleet with the intent of returning to Earth, which raised frictions with other Towasangans.

>At some point, Ameria became aware via telescopic observation that the Moon was becoming built up with new satellites and structure in orbit and on the surface. They became panicked about a lunar invasion and began developing new mobile suits and a spaceship, violating SU-Cordist taboos.

>Because of this, the Capital Territory and Ameria called the Mettabal Conference, and during this time the knowledge of Towasanga, a space colony on the far side of the moon, became known. During this conference, the construction of Ameria's big new space warship, the Nick Space, was cancelled and dismantled, but the ship was secretly constructed anyway as the Megafauna.

>After the conference, the Amerians gained access to the Rose of Hermes blueprints and began a secret operation using the Megafauna, disguised as a pirate vessel, to infiltrate the Capital Territory, steal Photon Batteries, test new weapons technology and pick up G-Type equipment from the Carribean Ocean Laboratory, a facility allied with them.

>Using the existence of the Megafauna as a trigger, a faction within the Capital Territory composed of the Research Division, Prime Minister's office, and some parts of the Capital Guard form a new military force known as the Capital Army. The Capital Army itself proceeds to break the taboos and bring out powerful forbidden weaponry.

>At the same time, the Amerian space fleet, now convinced of the space threat thanks to the arrival of the G-Self and the Army's escalation, has sortied their own ships into orbit with the goal of seizing the Capital Tower as a staging ground against Towasanga. Their intelligence indicates that the true reason for the formation of the Capital Army is also to check Towasanga's growth. Both the Capital Army and the Amerian fleet converge at the Capital Tower's highest point, Sankt Porto, to take control.

>The Megafauna, as well as the ships of the Amerian fleet and Capital Army meet to discuss how to proceed, but are interrupted by the arrival of Towasanga's Dollete fleet, who demonstrate superior numbers and firepower. Despite the three Earthnoid factions joining forces, a coalition attack on the fleet fails to achieve anything and they retreat to Sankt Porto where the Towasangans arrive to lecture them. The SU-Cordist pope and the Amerian leaders engage in a long, political process while the military warships of the Megafauna, Amerian and Capital Army slip away towards Towasanga.

>With part of the Dollete fleet pursuing them, the Earthnoid militaries decide on a strategy of coercion and alliance with Towasanga, hoping to entice the military's loyalty with promises of land to live on Earth, while the Megafauna's goal is one of exploration and examination of the distant space colony. the Towasangan government military welcomes the arrival of the Amerians and Capital Army while the Megafauna meets up with the Resistance.

Capital Territory:

Bellri Zenam
Pilot of the G-Self, and Capital Guard Cadet. Main character, Bell is a cunning, smug and cheerful boy who grew up with a workaholic mother that was never around, but doesn't resent her for it. He's not very idealistic and a bit naive but has good skills, and will personally follow around anyone or anything that interests him. Bellri was adopted by his mother and his true birth identity is the son of the Rayhunton family, and Aida's sister.

Willmit Zenam
Bellri's mother and administrator at the Capital Tower. Commander of the Capital Guard, Willmit is a faithful believer in SU-Cordism and seems severe at first glance, but she's a caring woman and loves her son. Willmit does not approve at all of the militarization of the Capital Territory.

Noredo Nug
Bellri's friend at the academy. A Kuntala and a headstrong girl, Noredo sticks to Bell like glue. She's a cheerleader in the Capital Guard-supporting group from Saint Flower Academy and handles Raraiya. Smarter than she looks.

Luin Lee/Captain Mask
A Kuntala and Bellri's classmate as well as Guard cadet, Luin was scouted by the Army as an ace pilot. Wearing a special mask to improve his skills and fighting as an inspirational figure to the downtrodden Kuntala, Luin as Captain Mask is driven and determined to raise the status of his people.

Manny Ambassada
A schoogirl from Saint Flower Academy and Luin's girlfriend, Manny is passionate and headstrong, similar to Noredo. She enlists in the Capital Army in order to follow her boyfriend.

Pope Gell Trimedestus Nug
Leader of the SU-Cordist religion. While officially the leader of the Capital Territory Theocracy he seems to be unaware of how the factions within the government are manuvering. He believes that technology is dangerous and is often looked after by Willmit Zenam.

Colonel Cumpa Rusita
Leader of the Research division and Intelligence at the Capital Tower. While officially he is not part of the Capital Army Cumpa is pulling its string along with the Prime Minister and the leader of the Army. Cumpa has gone behind the Tower's back several times, even acquiring a space-based warship from Gondwan. Cumpa's goal of fanning the flames of war is unknown but he seems to view "Earthnoids" with disdain.

Jugan Meinstrom
Leader of the Capital Army. In cahoots with Cumpa and loathes Ameria, peacetime, parades and cheerleaders.

Decker Shadam
Batshit crazy Capital Army officer. Likes wrestling.

Dellensen Samatar
Former Capital Guard Instructor turned Army pilot. Has a strong bond with Bellri and will go to great lengths to protect his students.

Barara Peol
Luin's subordinate in the Capital Army.

Kerbes Yoh
Capital Guard Instructor/leader. Friends with Dellensen and helped train Bellri. Bro.

Ameria:

Aida Surugan
Daughter of the Inspector General of Ameria and democratic activist, Aida is on a quest to liberate the world from the grip of the Tower's theocracy. Currently serving as a pilot on the Megafauna, Aida is inexperienced and stubborn as a pilot but is learning. Though she has very strong ideals and beliefs, she also has a tendency to blame herself when things go wrong and can be very emotional. Likes to dance. Aida was adopted by the Surugans as a child, and is in truth the daughter of the lunar Rayhunton family, and Bellri's sister.

Gusion Surugan
Inspector General of Ameria and supervisor of the Megafauna. An engineer and leader both, Gusion is a kind and considerate man who is always willing to compromise. He loves and dotes on his daughter but she's in a rebellious stage right now.

Donyell Toss
Captain of the Megafauna. A rough and jolly fat man who has a drawing of a sexy pin-up attached to his captain's chair.

Klim Nick
Son of the Amerian President, Klim Nick is a self-proclaimed genius and veteran MS pilot from the war with Gondwan. Though he is often wild, reckless and distrusted by Aida Klim is a very skilled pilot. Has a keen interest in the G-Self and its' first pilot Raraiya, and has plans to overthrow the Towasangan military and take control of it for his own power play on Earth.

Mick Jack
Amerian ace pilot and friend/rival of Klim Nick.

Cahill Saint
Captain of the MS forces on the Megafauna. Originator of the plan to seize the Tower and interested in the G-Types. Protective of Aida to a fault.

Happa
Chief engineer on the Megafauna. Loves tinkering with the G-Self.

Steer
Helmswoman of the Megafauna. Has an amazing english-speaking voice.

Towasanga:

Raraiya Monday AKA Raraiya Akuparl
Mysterious girl who piloted the G-Self. Lost her memory in the shock of her descent and has reverted to a childlike personality with flashes of lucidity. Her name was given to her by the Guard as she was found on a Monday. Her true identity is a former scout pilot for the Dollete fleet but secretly an agent for the Resistance. She fully recovers her personality and awareness at the midway point of the show.

Nouto Dollete
Head of the Dollete fleet and member of the Dollete family. His goal is to settle on Earth and control it through technology.

Mashner Hume
Dollete fleet commander and lover of Rockpie

Rockpie Geti
Ace Dollete fleet pilot. Brash and simple-minded.

Ringo Lon Giamanotta
Dollete fleet pilot and former test unit pilot familiar with the G-Self. Captured by the Megafauna in battle but with a devious personality.

Flaminia Kalle
Raraiya's close neighbour and confidante, and member of the Resistance.

Mysterious Gundam-type Mobile Suit acquired by Dollete Fleet. Seems to have a life of its own, can use G-Type Equipment.

G-Arcane
Gundam built from Rose of Hermes blueprints by Ameria. Incomplete prototype, carries high-powered anti-ship beam rifle/sword and can shift into a flight mode.

Grimoire
Amerian pirate-disguised mobile suit. Has a deadly beam whip in its gun and power plant in its head. Used as a technology testbed.

Montero
Custom MS built for Klim Nick. Similar to Grimoire parts-wise but looks really different. Can fly and has beam javellins.

Jahannam
Amerian MS. Looks like a fat Zaku. Has a space variation.

Hecate
Amerian MS. Looks like a fitter Dom.

Hybrid Mobile Armour and battle platform. Amerian prototype loaded with beam weapons but can transform into MS mode and punch things.

Recten
MS used by Capital Guard for repairing the Tower, but can use simple weapons. Detachable probe and work harness.

Recten modified with armour and hover pods.

Cait Sith
Capital Army MS with hidden weaponry. Capable of flight and has beam sabers and missiles built into the legs.

Elf Bull
Capital Army prototype MS built using Taboo tech. Has an internal Degeneracy Reactor that produces powerful tracking beams and can transform into a flight mode.

Elf Bullock
Capital Army MS based on Elf Bull. Covered in beam weaponry and missiles and can transform, as well as use a beam rifle and booster unit.

MacKnife
High-performance space combat MS based on Elf Bull and Elf Bullock. Loses armour and aerodynamics in favour of more weapons and manuverability, loaded in beam weapons and optical tracking missiles designed to circumvent Minovsky interferance.

Capital Army new-model MS. Equipped with a booster and multiple beam weapons as well as CQC ability.

Dollete Fleet MS. Competed with the original YG-111 as the frontline mobile suit. Rockpie's unique commander unit has a beam sword.

Term for the descendants of a subgroup of humans who were consumed as meat during the disasters and starvation of the previous era. While nobody eats them anymore many people in the Capital Territory treat them poorly.

Air balls and Water Balls
Advanced compression technology that allows huge volumes of air or water to be stored in a tiny sphere. Useful for filling up tanks in space or surviving in an emergency.

Crown
Name for large multi-car linear train that ascends and descends the Capital Tower. Comes in passenger, MS and cargo varieties.

Nut
Small space colony-like habitation ring spaced out along the length of the Capital Tower.

Sankt Porto
Holy space station at the end of the Capital Tower, used for the arrival of Photon Batteries from Towasanga. Takes a week to reach via the Tower.

Satellite near Towasanga, said by SU-Cordists to be the source of the Photon Batteries.
