  1. >You think my country knows no war, Anonymous? We fought the griffins in the worst war Equestria has ever known! Hundreds died, HUNDREDS!"
  2.
  3. >Celestia readjusts herself in her chair after the Royal Outburst"
  4.
  5. >Anon leans backwards, resting his face against his clenched hands and ponders."
  6.
  7. >As he does so, Celestia looks at him worried about his reaction to what she spoke."
  8.
  9. >Anon readjusts himself in the seat, leans forward and locks eye contact with the Sun-Goddess."
  10.
  11. "Princess, it is time that you know of one of the conflicts of man that makes the hundreds of lives lost during your Griffin War look nothing more than a light skirmish."
  12.
  13. >The Princess' eyes instantly narrow but Anon continues to speak his truths."
  14.
  15. "My peoples first modern war, our FIRST World War was a war that was and can still be called one of the most destructive that has ever been. It was a war of old world ideals and tactics clashing with the might and progress of the industrial revolution, it was fought from the fields of France and the frozen Julian Alps to the Savannahs of Africa."
  16.
  17. >The Princess of the Sun begins to loose her composure a bit, those pinprick eyes are now slowly returning to normal size and the uncertainty is clear by her body language."
  18.
  19. >You stop for a short moment are about to inquire the Princess about her current state of mind to ensure that she is alright but she puts a hoof to your hand and nods, the keeper of the Sun knows that she must and will sit through these tales."
  20. >You readjust yourself in your chair again, taking a sip of tea before continuing on."
  21.
  22. "*Clears throat...* The First World War started around late July of 1914 A.D. and ended on November 11th 1918 A.D. It was four long years of almost stagnant warfare, four long years of fighting on the land, air and sea... It is such a shame with how the whole thing started, if you really look into it, you cannot help but almost laugh at the whole thing."
  23.
  24. >The Princess just stares at you. You can see how the tale so far affects her little, though the aspect of a World War seems to have gotten her undivided attention for better or worse.
  25. "By the time it was all over, around 9 million were dead, 21 million wounded and about 8 million missing."
  26. > The Goddess of the Sun looks at you with such sadness. They say that the eyes are the gateway to the soul and it is no different here. The Princess' eyes speak of despair, loss and shock. As you look at her shaking, you get up and put on a hand on her shoulder."
  27. "My Dear Princess, do not weep for those who have one-hundred years ago, for they now know a better place, a place free of war, free of hate and free of spite. Those old souls are at rest and I envy them for while I have found a new wonderful world to live in they had to die for their passports to paradise."
  28. >The act coupled with your words have been the Goddess break down and embrace you. You can feel her heart going a mile a minute and with this fact you reply by embracing her back.
  29. >"Anon, how could your people do such a thing?" "I just do not understand why your race would let such a thing even escalate to a point like that."
  30. "It is simple Celestia, it is as simple as why the birds fly and why Pinkie-Pie is Pinkie-Pie; it is because it is our nature to do these things. Man has never been happy with any of the status quos that have been established over the millennia. There is always some oppressed party, there is always some exchanges of the sword and bow and then the cycle repeats itself."
  31. "It was to be the The War to end all Wars, the Final Crusade and the final verdict for many-a-country but like usual things change and never stay to the plan. It all began back in June of 1914 when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by Yugoslav nationalist Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo. Princip was a member of the Young Bosnia movement that had deep ties to the "Black-Hand" who were members of the Serbian Army that wished to reunite Serbia. Once the Archduke was killed, the wonderfully complex and short sighted series of treaties and pacts began to flare up all across Europe. Overall around 20 countries and their territories began to slug it out after those first shots were fired only a month later."
  32. >"Anon, you are telling me that one man, more or less caused the deaths of over 9 million leaving millions more wounded or missing."
  33. > By now you have already went back to your seat and have begun to partake of more tea. After taking a sip of the wonderfully imported tea from the mountainous region known as Trottingwaltz, you reply to her inquiry.
  34. "Well Princess when you are putting it that way then yes, yes one man did have his hand in this though I could say that Equestria has had its fair share of one show wonders, lets not forget King Sombra Queen Chrysalis and Nightmare Moon's return."
  35. >As if it was timed, her eyes began to glow and a scowl appeared on her face at the mention of her sister's fallen form.
  36. >"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BRING LUNA INTO A DISCUSSION OF GENOCIDAL HUMANS!"
  37. >Her Royal Canterlot voice booms through the room, shattering window pains and causing a crack to run down the middle of the main window that depicts Celestia embracing Luna after her return. You are flung from your seat while all of the fine China is shattered, leaving your had bloodied as you fly backwards towards one of the marble pillars. The last thing you see before blacking out while stunned is a worried Celestia.
