FFIV 64 door glitch

FF4 any% 64 door glitch guaranteed route

Credits go to (hopefully this information is correct, please let us know if anything is missed/incorrect):
- Japanese runner ‘cheap’, who completely dissected the 64 door glitch
- der_uber_owner, who has a detailed guide about how to use the 64 door glitch to complete the game
- Nitrodon and Brossentia, a couple of guys who enjoy taking our favourite games and destroying them (cough cough sketch glitch). Brossentia destroyed FFIV in 2:08:36 using the safer moon strats described below
- Japanese TASer ‘pirohiko’, whose run includes newer 64 door glitch strats involving the crystal room
- WR holder ‘nocashnocash’ (2:03:22) and ‘the_roth’ (2:04:16), just a couple of guys who enjoy pain (5% chance of completing the newer/unsafe 64 door glitch strats without resetting)


If you start the 64 door glitch (enter Castle, walk through 63 rooms, 63rd room is the throne room) before killing Calbrena/Golbez you will need to have the correct gil settings after killing Golbez (1059152 – 1059407 before Calbrena or 1073152-1073407 after).

After casting Warp to go back into the crystal room and retrieve the crystal, do the following:

In crystal room, Menu and set Battle speed and window settings to BS4 RGB 4,2,1
Exit south out of crystal room

Here you go through a series of light brown rooms. In the first 3 rooms that you have control of your character, walk Left in each one
You then hear a falling sound followed by Cid music for a few rooms
When you see the next light brown room, you will either be automatically pushed through it or you won’t. If not, walk up to get to the next room. (This room might instead look red with evil sounding music. This happens if your last yellow Chocobo went to the right instead of left. You can only go automatically through this room if your Chocobo also exited right on the same Y coordinate as Cecil, otherwise you cannot exit this room at all)
Walk up, left, up through the next 3 rooms
Hole left for about the next 30 rooms until you get to room -44, which is based on your BS and window settings

Room -44 will be the Sealed Cave, walk up to trigger the cutscene where Kain leaves the party
Take one step south out of Sealed Cave and cast Exit back to crystal room (if you can’t cast Exit here or you bacon, it means you haven’t loaded your save file quickly enough)

BS6 RGB 11,27,0 – leave crystal room and go to moon
Walk onto the teleporter into the save room, then walk south out of save room and then back in, and walk onto the save point. (The act of going out of the save room and back in sets your room 0 as this room, and casting Exit teleports you here instead of the crystal room)
Save in slot 2 (slots 1 and 4 can get erased by the glitch later on)

(Note: If you decide to do the 64 door glitch after killing Golbez instead, after Warping to grab the crystal cast Exit, and then re-enter the Dwarven Castle, walk up and down the right set of stairs until your 63rd room which will be the weapon/armour shops. Buy enough stuff to get your gil total below 2000. Walk up into Cafe Howdy and set BS6 11,27,0, then exit Cafe Howdy to warp to the moon first/save. You can then go to the Sealed cave with BS7 4,2,1 to get rid of Kain, then walk out of Sealed Cave, cast Exit back to the Moon and continue the route below.)


Moon - Your battle speed is now corrupted to 7 (off of screen)

Menu – BS 7 (press right 14 times to make this BS 21)
RGB 0,3,4

Save in slot 3 (in case your battle speed doesn’t get set correctly)

Walk up out of save room and go to -44 (FuSoYa’s palace)
Walk down 1 step (FuSoYa joins party)

Swap FuSoYa’ magic around
White – Life1/Exit, Sight/Mute, Bsrk/Float
Black – Stop/Fire1, Warp/Nuke
RGB 17,27,1

Exit south out of FuSoYa’s palace

Try to get through the next 2 rooms. If you get stuck/bacon etc. Reset, try again
If you reappear in FuSoYa’s palace in the third room (only if you have the high gil range), walk south out of palace. If you get stuck, reset and try again.
Hold left until castle, then walk down stairs

Menu – FuSoYa magic, White – swap Hold/upt Co, then cast Exit

Walk up out of Moon save room
Walk to room -44 (Descent – Second to last room in game)
Walk left to get to Zeromus floor

Change Battle speed to 1 (Wait until Zeromus floor to do this as the act of walking onto this floor corrupts your battle speed)
Fight Zeromus – FuSoYa cast upt Co
