  1. HUNTING HORN
  2.
  3. ALL HUNTING HORN STYLES
  4. - Introduction of the Paired Notes* (♫) mechanic
  5. (*my extremely music background-biased explanation of why "Double Note" is wrong is at the bottom of this guide)
  6. o Hitting a monster with your attack will grant a Paired version of your note.
  7. o Playing a song with all Pairs will play your current song as well as the previous song (usually upgrading it)
  8. o You can encore songs with all Paired Notes.
  9. ■ TIP: Health Recovery songs benefit from this greatly; play a normal/Pair song then a Pair song to get both, which you can encore!
  10. o FUN FACT: If your first ever song played during a hunt is all Pairs, it will play that song + Movement Speed Up!
  11. ■ Encore it to get the encore version of that + encore version of Movement Speed Up!
  12. ■ If the song was Movement Speed Up anyway, it’ll give you Attack Deflection Prevention right away!
  13.
  14. GUILD HUNTING HORN
  15. - The ONLY style that has Flourish (directional A, allows you to play 2 notes in 1 attack).
  16. o If you only play one note and the first swing misses, you can still get a Pair from the second swing.
  17. o If you play two notes, both swings need to hit to get two Pairs
  18. - Nothing else to note.
  19.
  20. STRIKER HUNTING HORN
  21. - Several moves have been removed:
  22. o Forward Slam (directional X/unsheathe from Guild).
  23. o Flourish (directional A from Guild).
  24. o Backwards Slam (neutral X-A from Guild).
  25. - All attacks no longer use directional inputs, instead following a linear combo system similar to other weapons:
  26. o A -> A -> A
  27. ■ Three very quick hilt stabs in a row. Not necessarily better for building your meters.
  28. ■ After the first or second stab, can use X or X-A.
  29. o X -> X -> loop
  30. ■ Counter-clockwise swing (neutral A from Guild) followed by a clockwise swing (neutral X from Guild).
  31. ■ Loops into itself (this is exactly the same as your A -> X loop from Guild!)
  32. ■ Can use X-A at any point.
  33. o X-A
  34. ■ Super Slam (directional X-A from Guild)
  35. ■ Since you cannot combo into any moves afterwards, you should roll.
  36.
  37. AERIAL HUNTING HORN
  38. - Loses Flourish (directional A)
  39. o A attacks now always do a counter-clockwise swing followed by a stab, regardless of directional inputs.
  40. - When jumping off of a monster/teammate:
  41. o Press X, A, or X-A to do a two-swing attack (if sheathed, only X works)
  42. ■ You can input a second note before the second swing (works the same way as Flourish)
  43. NOTE: It's very difficult to land both notes on small/low profile monsters.
  44. ■ Pressing X, A, or X-A after landing will make you a directionless input attack (CW swing, CCW swing, Backwards Slam)
  45. ■ Pressing R after landing will make you move slightly left and play a song
  46. ・ This does not have an attack. The encore uses the normal encore attacks.
  47.
  48. BUSHIDO HORN
  49. - Moveset is identical to Aerial (minus the forward hop and the aerial shenanigans).
  50. - After a successful Bushido Evade (during the sprint):
  51. o Hitting X, A, or X-A (if sheathed, only X works) will start a 3-swing attack of two upswings and a downswing
  52. ■ You can input a second and third note before the second and third swings (works the same way as Flourish)
  53. ■ You can roll before the second or third swings.
  54. o After the downswing, you can do a directionless input attack, roll, or play a song (this one does have an attack).
  55.
  56.
  57.
  58.
  59. *NOTE: In music, "Double Note" is another name for a breve, a note/rest lasting the length of two whole notes.
  60. Another (barely) acceptable use is when referring to harmonic intervals (when two notes are played at the same time).
  61. The most correct way to call ♫ would be "(beamed) pair of eighth notes", so I decided that "Pair" (or "Paired Notes" or "Note Pair") would be best.
  62.
  63. "But wait!" you may say, "A lot of Google Image results for 'double note' show the ♫ symbol!".
  64. Yeah, well a lot of results for "taste buds" still show that different parts of the tongue taste different things. Wait, you didn't know that was a myth...?
