[2016-08-03 13:22:38] <Mare-Do-Well> 3From the air, the cave is marked by the sight of neither living creatures nor dead ones.  No bones little the area nearby.  However, Golden_Dream does spot symbols carved into some of the larger stones in a vague parameter around the cave.

[2016-08-03 13:23:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The /Shadowbolt/ begins to move, picking up speed.  Below, a creature that is mostly a dragon lumbers out of the entrance.  Amethyst scales and ruby-spined, the dragon is covered in black vines that thread in and out of its body, covering him like veins, with bulges of oily pustules and black flowers.  The creature stares up at the ship and roars.
[2016-08-03 13:23:34] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mitzi gasps and slips Hunter behind her. "Wut eez dat?!"
[2016-08-03 13:23:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The Stripeless react with horror to the sight below.  The translator turns to Shatara, speaking in griffin.  "It is the Black Plague of the Anulus Mortis!"
[2016-08-03 13:23:54] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...
[2016-08-03 13:24:11] <Mare-Do-Well> 3One of the dragons reaches into the air with a claw the size of Mitzi and scribbles a burning rune in the air.  Then stares down at the ponies and hellhound.  Finally, "We have no use for more children.  Go to the Dragon Lord.  She will determine if your hatchling can stay."
[2016-08-03 13:24:19] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Noble_Heart glances towards the others curiously. "Dragon Lord?" This could be more problematic than expected. But at least it was a direction to move in!
[2016-08-03 13:24:26] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mitzi looks back at Noble_Heart. "Maybe eets dere Alpha."
[2016-08-03 13:24:36] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream leg pumps. "As m' friend would say, awesome. Can y' point us in th' right direction?"
[2016-08-03 13:24:44] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"Does sound important. Hopefully she'll have advice even if she can't take the lot."
[2016-08-03 13:24:53] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"If you seek the Dragon Lord, you must travel to..."  the adult dragons look at each other, and there is the sense of an unbreathed sigh.  "...the flamecano in the heart of the Sea of Pain."
[2016-08-03 13:25:01] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The other dragon, whose voice is far more high-pitched that seems appropriate to such a large and majestic creature, adds, "It's just past Skull Mountain, beyond the Scarlet Pools.  You can't miss it."
[2016-08-03 13:25:33] <Mare-Do-Well> 3CopyCat smiles gratefully. "Thank you so much for you help," she says, before one of her eyebrows raised up all on it's own. "Flame...cano?"
[2016-08-03 13:25:44] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost says, "well, that was really nice. thank you!"
[2016-08-03 13:25:52] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mitzi looks impressed. "Dere society must be very tough tu survive all dat."
[2016-08-03 13:26:06] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Bookwright thinks, "Sounds like a regional term for a volcano."
[2016-08-03 13:26:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream lowers her head. It might've looked like she was in despair at such intimidating titles of places. In actuality, it sounded like some of the things Southern would come up with when they played pretend, and she was trying to laugh without giving it away.
[2016-08-03 13:26:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream clops her hooves together, and puts on the most solemn face. "Right." She noted. "Thank you for your time. We will be out of yer' spines shortly."

[2016-08-03 13:31:33] * Noble_Heart stands near the bow of the ship, keeping an eye on the passing terrain. Concerned that there might still be something which could threaten them despite their relative stealthiness.
[2016-08-03 13:31:45] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Beyond the unfriendly and volcanic terrain, the cloying smoke and sulfur breeze....
[2016-08-03 13:33:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...there are defenses apparent, from dangerous local flora to militaristic armaments.  Most of the latter are large, powerful and trained to the air.
[2016-08-03 13:34:08] * Noble_Heart peers down at the military defenses. "It seems that perhaps they are not liking visitors out here." She frowns. "Or perhaps they are merely remnants of an era when the dragons were at war with Equestria."
[2016-08-03 13:35:18] * Golden_Dream instinctively asks Shatara to avoid flying over the muzzles of the military armaments. It just seemed like a good idea.
[2016-08-03 13:38:15] * Bookwright looks down on the surface-to-air defenses. "It makes sense if you think about it. A major portion, perhaps /the/ major portion of Equestria's military might was air-focused. The terrain of this place precludes a ground assault, so all their defenses are focused on the air."
[2016-08-03 13:39:19] * Golden_Dream looks around. "Why does anyone live here?" She peaks up again. "Wait, /how/ does anyone live here. I don't see any critters that they eat. If they had gems, the Zebras wouldn't have needed to trade with Equestria in the first place. And they could be traded with, because we fought them!"
[2016-08-03 13:39:36] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Skull Mountain is obvious and aptly named.  The crest of the towering mountain is the throne of a colossal dragon skull.  Fully adult dragons fly about it, sometimes swooping in and out of the open jaws or cavernous eye sockets.
[2016-08-03 13:41:17] * Mitzi rubs her chin contemplatively. "Ur father killed a dragon once. Eet wuz..." she looks around, "not quite full grown uh tink. Maybe half dat size as he tells it." She points to one of the adults.
[2016-08-03 13:41:22] * Get_Lost "meh, fragons don't share..."
[2016-08-03 13:43:48] * Golden_Dream watches the dragons poke in and out of the skull. She forgets her own point for a moment. "Celestia, I wish I had a camera. Southern once read a book by this dragon named 'Dragon Wizards of Mount Skulzfyre'. Actually, it could've been a pony writer, but this was on the cover."
[2016-08-03 13:43:54] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Blistering heat makes the air shimmer over the Scarlet Pools -- cascading falls of glowing magma that flows through step-like pools of black rock.
[2016-08-03 13:44:48] * Noble_Heart swallows nervously. "Well, it seems we have found the Dragon's ruling court... Shall We go introduce Ourselves?"
[2016-08-03 13:44:54] * Bookwright "Well, that was Skull Mountain, and these are obviously the Scarlet Pools. So we should be coming up on the 'flame-cano' shortly. Apparently, we won't be able to miss it."
[2016-08-03 13:44:56] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The Scarlet Pools show the largest population of visible dragons the Crimson's Caravaners have so far seen.  Over a score lay about the pools or bathe within them.
[2016-08-03 13:45:27] * Get_Lost "wow... just... wow. we should really, REALLY go there with some sort of present, you know?"
[2016-08-03 13:45:56] * Shatara fidgets. "I know I'm not really the talky type...but I'm pretty sure rings of heavy weapons tend to communicate 'no uninvited guests'..."
[2016-08-03 13:46:09] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Beyond, Bookwright and the others can see shimmering blue that contrasts with the hellish colors of the rest of the Dragonlands.
[2016-08-03 13:46:14] * Bookwright peers downward at the relaxing dragons. "I have a couple gems... but literally, it's just a few. They're not much and they're not many, but I'll donate them to the cause if we need to."
[2016-08-03 13:46:22] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The hexagonal rock formations of a basalt shoreline ring a massive caldera lake.  Huge, dark forms swim just beneath the surface.
[2016-08-03 13:47:21] * Golden_Dream gives Get a look. "What do we have, after bein' out of Equestria fer' like weeks or months that we can afford to split with?"
[2016-08-03 13:47:22] * Bookwright "Ooh, look! Columnar basalt! That stuff forms when basalt lavas cool at a specific rate and form hexagonal crystals."
[2016-08-03 13:48:27] * Golden_Dream then gives Bookwright a look. A different look. One that isn't so transparent on what she's feeling right now. "You know, sometimes, you remind me of m' brother, Bookie."
[2016-08-03 13:48:31] * Mitzi winces away from the lava, then claps herself on the head as she remembers something anger at Sonica had pushed from her mind. Lowering her paw she looks to the group. "Gift eez often gud fur makeen alphas more friendly."
[2016-08-03 13:49:54] * Get_Lost let's see... starts rummaging in her stuff
[2016-08-03 13:49:57] * Noble_Heart nods her head to Mitzi. "That is often true. Though We are uncertain what We might have that the dragons would desire." She frowned thoughtfully. "Aside from the removal of the stain upon their reputation."
[2016-08-03 13:52:11] * Get_Lost "i don't think they would like us to remember to them about reputation or bad things... meh, i have nothing at all" sighs
[2016-08-03 13:52:30] * Get_Lost "i mean... i'm even out of sparkle cola!"
[2016-08-03 13:53:23] * Mitzi thinks a moment. "Dese dragons seem like dey appreciate strength und wealth. Ur kind has strength, though less wealth den we used to."
[2016-08-03 13:54:45] * Get_Lost shakes her head "okay, then we have to put it the proper way: we found a ton of hatchlings out of the freaking nowhere and were told to get them here because stuff."

[2016-08-03 13:58:02] * Mitzi shakes her head at Get_Lost. "Uh'm an alpha's daughter. Maybe dat will count fur sumteen."
[2016-08-03 13:59:20] * Bookwright "I think Noble Heart's right. The best gift we can give is the news of the Mother of Balefire's demise."
[2016-08-03 13:59:33] * Get_Lost "actually, i really, REALLY hope they won't mind our ancestors, on my side... but okay, if you think you can try to talk the talk and walk that wald, i'm fine with you doing your thing"
[2016-08-03 14:00:29] * Golden_Dream rubs the back of her neck. "I think all we really can do is play it by ear." She gives Get an accusatory glance. "... And /not leave 200 baby dragons on their doorstep while running like hell/."
[2016-08-03 14:00:34] * Get_Lost "sooo... we can't just appeare in front of them... how do we make ourselves manifest?"
[2016-08-03 14:01:15] * Noble_Heart looks outwards towards the blue thing on the horizon. "First, we head towards their actual court. This Flame-cano."
[2016-08-03 14:02:48] * Get_Lost nods and spaks to parlay "dear, create a new folder and name it dragonplots, then fill it as mush as possible please"
[2016-08-03 14:05:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Towards the center of the caldera, huge magenta crystals jut out of the water like fingers.  Resting just off-center is an island.  And from the island rises a twisting, magic-touched mountain.  Its top is an open, glowing pit from which crimson fire occasionally geysers.
[2016-08-03 14:06:37] * Mitzi drools a little at the sight of the enormous crystals
[2016-08-03 14:07:09] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The "flamecano" looks much as it did in centuries past.  The island, less so, bearing more in common with a military encampment than a savage, forbidden island -- barracades, barbed wire and anti-dragon cannons like those which once defended Friendship City.
[2016-08-03 14:08:10] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The nearest crystals are carved with glowing runes.  They are similar by not identical to those that Golden_Dream spotted around the Black Plague dragon's cave.
[2016-08-03 14:08:18] * Noble_Heart looks out at the island with some surprise. "We admit, this is impressive. We have little experience with dragons and their magic, but they have certainly accomplished great things. And seem to have remained intact despite the end of Equestria and Roam alike."
[2016-08-03 14:08:24] * Get_Lost " wow, cool"
[2016-08-03 14:09:05] * Get_Lost "good for them. now we just need to get them listen to us and not assault us on sight"

[2016-08-03 14:15:44] * Get_Lost "uhm... soooo... what are we doing? send them an ambassador? land on top of the rock and disembark all the dragons we have? turn our tails?"
[2016-08-03 14:16:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 13"But do they have better drinks than Golden_Dream has?  I betcha they don't!  ...oh, I know what we should give them!"
[2016-08-03 14:16:23] <Mare-Do-Well> 13"A PARTY!"
[2016-08-03 14:17:00] * Get_Lost "that's a good plan. also, i'll check for radio frequencies... i don't think we will be lucky, but i'll try"
[2016-08-03 14:18:20] * Golden_Dream raises an eyebrow. "I wasn't aware that there was a 'please take these two hundred baby dragons from your generational enemies' party in yer' databanks." What is she saying? Pink-E will try to make anything into a party.
[2016-08-03 14:18:43] * Noble_Heart tilts her head to one side. "Considering the glowing runes, and the masses of defenses. We suspect that dropping in unannounced will be seen as most unfriendly. Perhaps there is a better option?"
[2016-08-03 14:18:57] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost is somewhat surprised to find a local radio frequency.  It is playing classical music.
[2016-08-03 14:19:30] * Get_Lost "woot! they have a radio and they play good music! this is somehow surprising!"
[2016-08-03 14:20:06] * Get_Lost scans more for open frequesncies where she could communicate without interrupting music programs
[2016-08-03 14:21:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3There doesn't seem to be any more open frequencies.  Just the one.  And there are no voices on it.  When a song ends, there is a vague period of dead air.  Then the next musical piece begins playing.
[2016-08-03 14:21:48] * Get_Lost "parlay, be a dear and take a flight half a mile from the ship in both directions, i need to triangulate the signal, please"
[2016-08-03 14:22:59] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Parlay flies off with an affirmative beepboop.
[2016-08-03 14:26:55] * Get_Lost in the meantime she opens the radio and plays it aloud so that the guys on the ship can hear it "good music guys, once in a lifetime! get it as long as it lasts!"
[2016-08-03 14:27:49] * Golden_Dream listens for a brief moment. And then turns it off because she was feeling like her mind was being pulled into a vacuum. She had no idea why.
[2016-08-03 14:28:02] * Get_Lost relaxes and thinks of green hills and warm sunny fields
[2016-08-03 14:28:31] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The music sounds like it could be Equestrian.  But the songs are unfamiliar, the style sounds like music from a generation before anything that DJ Pon3 plays, and the group cannot be sure what several of the instruments are.
[2016-08-03 14:28:42] * Noble_Heart looks up towards the mountain, then around at the surrounding dragons and lava. "Who would be broadcasting classical Equestrian music in a place like this? And for how long..?" Something was... Odd about that.
[2016-08-03 14:28:53] * Get_Lost "hey! i was listening to that!" sighs and puts it back on the headgear, putting it on again. radio operators are never loved
[2016-08-03 14:30:17] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A song comes on that is considerably more energetic than the last.  And the sound one of the instruments makes bears a striking resemblance to the sound of Bookwright's gun firing.
[2016-08-03 14:31:33] * Bookwright "What was /that!?/ It sounded like the jukebox gun going off!"
[2016-08-03 14:32:04] * Get_Lost shrugs "no idea, but i like it"
[2016-08-03 14:32:30] * Golden_Dream jolts up and had her shotgun in her hooves. "SHIT WE'RE UNDER ATTACK PONY THE GUNS AND BATTEN DOWN TH' HATCHLINGS."
[2016-08-03 14:33:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 13"Oooh.  It's not just classical, it's Crystal Empire classical!"
[2016-08-03 14:34:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 13Pink-E announces with a grin in her timber that her grill cannot duplicate.  "I've heard that one before!"
[2016-08-03 14:34:15] * Get_Lost "goldie... relax, okay? it's just music. besides, if that was a wavelenght weapon the ship would be a wreck the exact moment you hear it. and you would be peeing your brain"
[2016-08-03 14:34:56] <Mare-Do-Well> 13"Eeeeew."
[2016-08-03 14:34:59] * Golden_Dream whimpers a bit. "What a terrible way t' die."
[2016-08-03 14:35:18] * Get_Lost "yeah. eeew is exatly how that chapter is called"
[2016-08-03 14:36:26] * Noble_Heart looks up at the speakers curiously. "How odd. Crystal Empire specifically." She frowned in contemplation at that. "We suppose they certainly had an affluence of gemstones. But strange to find it here."
[2016-08-03 14:38:23] * Get_Lost "so, we could stay here and listen to music forever or try and make contact with the lizards... noble, are you volunteering?"
[2016-08-03 14:39:13] * Golden_Dream folds her forelegs, feeling the fur on her neck stick up on end. "... You sure we can't just stay here and listen t' music fer'ever?" She shakes her head. "I'll go with. She's m' ride."
[2016-08-03 14:40:07] * Get_Lost "shatara, what do we do?"
[2016-08-03 14:40:36] * Get_Lost "you bring bookie down and i stay here maneuvering just in case? like the plan?"
[2016-08-03 14:41:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Parlay reaches her destination.  Soon, Get_Lost can confirm that the music is coming from the flamecano.
[2016-08-03 14:41:53] * Mitzi looks to the group. "Uh'll join yu. Eef tings eez bad, Uh cud protect you bettur."
[2016-08-03 14:41:54] * Get_Lost "they transmit from the island."
[2016-08-03 14:42:23] <Mare-Do-Well> 3There is a low rumble.  The music is drowned in static.  And crimson flame shoots out of the mountain.

[2016-08-03 14:42:52] * Noble_Heart lowers to let Golden_Dream onto her back. "It might be best if you remain here, Mitzi. We are going to an island surrounded with lava, and may have to exit quickly. It might be best without the risk of you accidentally tunneling into a lava lake."
[2016-08-03 14:43:39] * Mitzi frowns, displeased that the mention of lava made her wince again. "As yu wish>"
[2016-08-03 14:43:43] <Mare-Do-Well> 3It lasts only a moment, then everything returns to normal and the music returns to full clarity.
[2016-08-03 14:44:27] * Bookwright "The transmission was just disrupted by the volcano. So either it's between us and the transmitter, or it's the source."
[2016-08-03 14:44:59] * Get_Lost "okay, awau team out?"
[2016-08-03 14:45:03] <Get_Lost> *away
[2016-08-03 14:48:13] * Noble_Heart looks up at the weird symbols curiously. "Did anyone figure out what those symbols are? Beyond dragon magic?"
[2016-08-03 14:49:07] * Golden_Dream hops up. "Yeah, she's got a point. You're about two hundred eighty pounds of claws and anger. I'm about one twenty of jus' the last bit. And I don't think you can fit on the back of Noble." She shrugs at Noble, shrugging. "Well, we could try if you feel up t' it."
[2016-08-03 14:50:15] * Noble_Heart frowns. "We are concerned about possibly treading on territory which would be seen as a threat. Considering the large quantities of defenses here, someone within clearly does not wish to be disturbed. Knowing why might be useful."
[2016-08-03 14:50:23] * Bookwright muses on the possibilities of weaponising Golden_Dream. Perhaps some kind of portable missile launcher?
[2016-08-03 14:52:33] * Mitzi nods. "Uh weigh Nine hundred pounds," she clarifies.
[2016-08-03 14:54:28] * Get_Lost so, Shatara, you get bookie?
[2016-08-03 14:57:37] * Noble_Heart contemplated a few moments longer then frowned. "Actually, it may be best that Mitzi and her friend come. The other dragons were far more receptive when we were traveling with one of theirs than they were to us alone."
[2016-08-03 15:05:03] <Mitzi> Hunter sits atop Mitzi's head and also drools while looking at the crystals.
[2016-08-03 15:05:40] * Shatara collects a pone and/or babby durg for the trip. "We do still have a wagon, don't we?"
[2016-08-03 15:09:57] * Golden_Dream gives a glance to Shatara. "Yeah, I've been taking pulls of th' water tank t' keep us all watered and fed. Why?"
[2016-08-03 15:12:49] * Bookwright "His point is that the wagon is probably less threatening than the whole goshdarn airship. Although if we want to appear nonthreatening we probably have to unmount the Extremely Large Cannon.
[2016-08-03 15:19:39] <Mare-Do-Well> 13"Can I come?"  <pause> "Can Parlay come?"
[2016-08-03 15:22:23] * Golden_Dream sucks on her teeth. "Good point. Do that thing y' just said, and let's get down there."
[2016-08-03 15:23:10] <Shatara> "Well, I'm not sure about leaving behind what's probably the only thing that can fire back if things go south.."
[2016-08-03 15:26:43] * Bookwright "If things go badly south, we're not going to have any luck shooting our way out of it. Noble Heart and myself will teleport us back to the ship and we'll fly for the border with all speed and that still probably won't be enough."
[2016-08-03 15:26:55] * Noble_Heart frowns. "If things come to blows, We are not fighting. We are leaving." she shook her head. "Raptors were built to fight -a- dragon. One. At a time. You saw how many there are here. There is no chance We can fight our way out of this."
[2016-08-03 15:29:20] <Shatara> "The idea is less to fight out of anything, and more to not look like a free snack."
[2016-08-03 15:30:18] * Get_Lost "yeah parlay can come. is it okay if i stay up here, in case we need a very fast departure?"
[2016-08-03 15:36:04] * Bookwright snickers and shares a mental image with Copycat of an oven roasted griffin.
[2016-08-03 15:42:30] * Golden_Dream saddles up Noble_Heart to the wagon and hops on. "Alright. Mitzi, Hunter, Me, Shatara, Bookie. Get on board. Get, get on Parlay. We'll tell y' if things are gettin' bad."
[2016-08-03 15:42:44] * Golden_Dream points out. "Onward and outward."
[2016-08-03 15:43:59] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The hatchlings have moved, generally speaking, to the sides of the ship.  Many are staring out at the flamecano.  Others are staring (and drooling) at the giant ruby-colored crystals.  One of them near Golden_Dream's left forehoof is nibbling on the tale of the baby dragon girl next to him.  A threesome are apparently wrestling near the anchor wench.
[2016-08-03 15:44:45] * Noble_Heart nods her head, spreading her wings. "We fly!"
[2016-08-03 15:44:51] <Mare-Do-Well> 3(It is uncoordinated baby wrestling, which mostly resembles falling on each other until one dragon can proclaim king-of-the-pule.)

Within seconds, a giant, fire-scaled, serpentine sea-monster bursts up from the dark water below.  It opens a maw full of teeth and blasts water at the firewagon, doing an excellent impression of an oversized firehose.
[2016-08-03 15:51:41] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Noble_Heart deftly dodges the sprays of water.  Not only the first one, but each similar attack before getting within range of the island.
[2016-08-03 15:52:43] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The guns stay still and quiet.  Noble_Heart can spot missile launchers under the camouflage of woven seaweed.  But those too remain passive.
[2016-08-03 15:52:44] * Noble_Heart twists and turns in the air, hopefully not too much for her passengers, descending towards the island swiftly. "Hang on tight. This is likely to get bumpier before it gets smoother!"
[2016-08-03 15:52:48] * Golden_Dream promptly starts holding onto her new dragon kiddo as if dear life depended on it. THEY WILL NOT KILL THIS ONE CELESTIA DAMNIT.
[2016-08-03 15:54:02] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The strange, armor-hided beasts with the huge, flat tails that rest all about the mountainside are less forgiving of trespass, hurling boulders in the direction of the firewagon with frightening aim.
[2016-08-03 15:56:11] * Mitzi stands up, using one claw to grip the side of the wagon, her other raised and ready to shatter any boulder that got too close
[2016-08-03 15:56:13] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Noble_Heart barely dodges the closest one, the unforgiving, hard stone actually scraping a bit of paint off the side of the wagon as it hurls by.
[2016-08-03 15:57:13] * Golden_Dream starts to tie herself onto the wagon and maintains her deathgrip on babby dragon. Dragons. Mitzi probably would want her keeping Hunter safe while on boulder smashing duty.
[2016-08-03 15:57:26] * Noble_Heart winces at the sound of stone upon metal, beating her wings harder in an effort to get out of range before they get knocked from the sky.
[2016-08-03 15:58:18] <Mare-Do-Well> 3As Noble_Heart reaches the island, three possibilities offer themselves for landing: the shore just inside the barricades, a rocky outcropping with a cave that leads into the flamecano, or a collapsed section along the base of the mountain which also leads inside.
[2016-08-03 15:59:37] * Noble_Heart glances back as she attempts to avoid being hit. "We need to land." She heads in the direction of the cave leading to the Flamecano. She wasn't sure that would be right, but given the broadcasts there was probably -something- there.
[2016-08-03 16:03:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The cave entrance is dimly lit -- there are sporadic ruby crystals growing out of the cave floor, tiny versions of the giant ones in the lake, and every tenth or eleventh one is glowing with a soft magenta light.  Without them, the cavern would be utterly black not far beyond the entrance.
[2016-08-03 16:06:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3There are signs of habitation, huge clawprints, the segments of a metal military street barricade folded up against one wall.  Cables running along the ceiling.
[2016-08-03 16:07:16] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Draconic decorations, largely in the form of huge and elaborate jewelry-like metalwork, hang on the walls or from the ceiling.
[2016-08-03 16:09:51] * Noble_Heart looks around quietly a few moments, this was definitely unusual. But after traveling through time, fighting evil spirit-gods and dealing with ghosts, one got used to the unusual. She pushed onwards, into the cave, with the wagon in tow.
[2016-08-03 16:10:31] * Bookwright casts a minor spell.
[2016-08-03 16:14:37] * Golden_Dream whimpers a little.
[2016-08-03 16:14:39] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A few of them spot, in a darkened alcove, a floor-mounted display of a draconic weapon: a grand tail-maul.  Forged with engravings that make it look fearsome and angry, the maul is essentially a wrecking ball attached to a tail-sheath.
[2016-08-03 16:16:42] * Golden_Dream points it out and shouts out, "Oh, come on! We're already fuckin' outmatched, we fuckin' get it!"
[2016-08-03 16:17:10] * Bookwright "Calm down Golden, it's a display, not a threat."
[2016-08-03 16:17:36] * Bookwright scowls in thought. "Actually, it's probably a threat too. Oh well."
[2016-08-03 16:18:49] * Noble_Heart frowns as she looks at the weapon. "It is a threat. But not a threat to -Us-. A threat to other dragons." She pushes onwards into the cavern.
[2016-08-03 16:19:08] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The cave narrows, becoming a maze of stalactites and stalagmites that are far too evenly-spaced and identically-sized to have naturally formed.  They look like teeth, as if this part of the cavern was designed to appear like the inside of a giant dragon's mouth.
[2016-08-03 16:20:15] * Mitzi llooks impressed at the architecture.
[2016-08-03 16:21:02] * Golden_Dream doesn't really have a volume control whenever she's this upset. "What kind of insecure fucks thinks, 'Oh, look at these tiny things I don't know what is! I want to fuckin' throw boulders and start chucking scalding waters at them! Maybe some regular rocks too! Fuck everything."
[2016-08-03 16:22:54] * Mitzi looks to Golden_Dream. "Uh don't tink dose tings wuz wit da draguns. Dey not smart enuff tu du eet on command."
[2016-08-03 16:22:56] * Noble_Heart pauses briefly and takes a closer look at the architecture. Moving up to one of the stalagmites and touching it with a forehoof, just to be positive it was -actually- a rock and not a cleverly disguised dragon tooth.
[2016-08-03 16:23:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3At the end, there is a great, heavy set of double-doors.  They are surrounded by walls spiked with sharp, jutting crystals.
[2016-08-03 16:23:42] <Mare-Do-Well> 3 In the few yards between the maw and the crystal spikes, two obsidian-carved pedestals display draconic suits of armor.  These are small suits, not much larger than an alicorn, clearly designed to be worn into battle by fairly youthful dragons.  From the looks of them, they have each seen their share of adventure, one much more than the other.
[2016-08-03 16:24:52] * Noble_Heart approaches the doors cautiously. "We suppose We should knock?" She reached out a forehoof to knock on the door. Not that she really expected such a small knock to be noticeable.
[2016-08-03 16:26:07] * Golden_Dream hauls out her shotgun. "I got somethin' louder, if yer' wantin' some a' that."
[2016-08-03 16:26:10] <Mare-Do-Well> 3There is no immediate response.
[2016-08-03 16:26:30] * Bookwright "I suppose there's little chance we weren't noticed on our way in."
[2016-08-03 16:27:48] * Noble_Heart glances back then towards the door again. "We would not guarantee it. These defenses seem for use against other dragons. Likely, those within are used to hearing others foolish enough to approach this place being driven off." She looked back towards the tail-flail, contemplating it.
[2016-08-03 16:29:21] * Bookwright "Try the door? Maybe it's unlocked and the Most Honorable Lord of Dragons won't eat us on sight?"
[2016-08-03 16:29:52] * Noble_Heart takes a closer look at the door in the dim light, curious as to if there was a knocker. Or even a clear lock.
[2016-08-03 16:30:56] * Mitzi steps up to the door and knocks with a much larger, meatier fist
[2016-08-03 16:31:02] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Neither knocker nor lock appear visible.

[2016-08-03 16:32:11] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A moment later, there is the sound of a loud grinding.  Then a bone-rending creak as the door swings open a few small feet...

[2016-08-03 16:33:55] <Mare-Do-Well> 3... and a translucent-orange crystal pony peeks out.  She first looks upwards expectantly.  Then down until her gaze meets Noble_Heart's.  She blinks in surprise.
[2016-08-03 16:34:33] * Golden_Dream blinks. "Um. What?"
[2016-08-03 16:35:14] * Noble_Heart frowns slight and sighs. "Well, not what We were expecting, for certain. Perhaps We chose the wrong cave."
[2016-08-03 16:35:18] * Bookwright "Hmm, a resident of the crystal empire! That explains the music, I suppose."
[2016-08-03 16:35:21] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"Oh.  Uh, hello?"  She looks equally confused.
[2016-08-03 16:36:12] * Noble_Heart raises a forehoof to her chest. "We are Noble Heart. We were seeking the Dragon Lord who rules from the Flamecano amidst the fiery peaks. We do not suppose you know where we might find them?"
[2016-08-03 16:37:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Gathering herself, she stands up as tall as she can (which is much less tall thank Noble_Heart, but still taller than Golden_Dream).  "Her.  And... do you have an appointment?"
[2016-08-03 16:37:48] * Golden_Dream points at her. "Um. Hi. We fixed th' Crystal Empire." She questioned, not really paying attention to what she herself is saying right now. "Also, we have like two hundred baby dragons in our airship and we don't know what to do with them. Please help."
[2016-08-03 16:38:26] * Noble_Heart frowns at that. "We were not aware that an appointment would be necessary. ... Or possible. Thus far We have had somewhat limited contact with the dragons. And considering all the signs, monsters and boulders, We assumed that she would not get many visitors."
[2016-08-03 16:38:26] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"I... you... what?!"
[2016-08-03 16:38:42] * Bookwright "It's important to know how we came by two hundred dragon hatchlings too, but we'd really like to tell Her Tallness in person, if that's okay?"
[2016-08-03 16:38:59] * Noble_Heart nods her head. "Yes. Also that. We are in a bit of a hurry, on account that We have far too many dragons on Our hooves already."
[2016-08-03 16:39:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 3She blinks again.  Then holds up a hoof.  "Wait right there."  Then closes the door.
[2016-08-03 16:41:19] * Shatara helpfully holds up a babby dragon that sucks on her own tail.
[2016-08-03 16:41:44] * Bookwright 'I sincerely hopes there are refreshments. A Very Large Dragon Lord is sure to have refreshments, right? I could go for a coffee and a sweetroll."
[2016-08-03 16:42:12] * Golden_Dream raises an eyebrow. "I don't think you can eat her refreshments, Bookie. They eat gems."
[2016-08-03 16:42:43] * Bookwright turns the Tearful Face of Disappointment on Golden_Dream.
[2016-08-03 16:43:54] * Golden_Dream rolls her eyes. "I can whip y' up something when we get back. If nothin' else, I can make y' emergency coffee and a cimmin' roll."
[2016-08-03 16:44:21] * Bookwright changes his expression to show his previous expression was in jest.
[2016-08-03 16:45:23] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The door creaks open again and the crystal mare reappears.  "The Dragon Lord grants your request for an audience.  She is in the pool room.  Please follow me."  She pauses, looking down.  Then says, "Please wipe your hooves as you come in.  I just cleaned the floor."
[2016-08-03 16:46:06] * Bookwright fastidiously wipes his hooves and cleans his glasses.
[2016-08-03 16:46:41] * Mitzi ponders a moment as Hunter nibbles her ear. She then looks at her hind paws and stoops down to clean them. With her tongue.
[2016-08-03 16:47:11] * Noble_Heart blinks in some surprise, then parks the wagon to one side of the doors, to disconnect herself before proceeding inside. Bringing a vehicle into someone else's home seemed rude. "We shall be on Our best behavior."
[2016-08-03 16:47:22] * Mitzi decides to give herself a proper tongue bath while she's at it actually. It would do well to be properly cleaned when meeting someone as important as a Dragon Alpha.
[2016-08-03 16:47:45] * Golden_Dream swipes her hooves against the doormat. She hopes. At the very least, she knocks some of the dust off her hooves by dancing on them a little bit.
[2016-08-03 16:48:32] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The crystal mare turns and begins leading the Equestrians into a very large and lived-in chamber, filled with draconic furniture, metalwork decorations, and display cauldrons of gems.  The size of the room is much greater than the furnishings, making it appear spartan.
[2016-08-03 16:48:40] <Mare-Do-Well> 3There is a narrow carpet of green and blue that looks to have been fashioned from the wool of crystal ewes.
[2016-08-03 16:49:56] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Off to one side, draped over a pony-sized chair, is a pony-sized apron next to a feather-duster made from real griffin feathers.  The apron looks like it was tossed hastily aside.
[2016-08-03 16:50:40] * Golden_Dream pats the carpet. "You know, I ain't ever touched actual crystal wool before. This here's neat." She remarks, following the Crystal Mare. "So, um. Yeah. We fixed th' Crystal Kingdom. It was weird for a while, but now it's at least populated by folks that got their minds straight."
[2016-08-03 16:51:25] * Noble_Heart carefully cleans her hooves on the door mat, before following the crystal pony. "Indeed. With significantly fewer Crystal Battle Ewes than before. Though the miniature ones were quite adorable." She looks up at the furnishings. Someone certainly had wealth aplenty. Not that that was terribly surprising.
[2016-08-03 16:52:40] * Mitzi stands up and follows when she's finished bathing.
[2016-08-03 16:56:44] * Shatara takes a moment to wonder what their tiny giant crystal battle ewe is up to now.
[2016-08-03 16:56:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The crystal mare listens intently.  She doesn't seem to know quite what to say to such news.  Golden_Dream and Noble_Heart cannot be sure what frame of reference she comes from on the subject of her home... or ancestral home, at least.
[2016-08-03 16:58:17] * Bookwright finds himself wondering if the poor crystal pony is more of a keepsake than a servant.
[2016-08-03 17:00:08] * Golden_Dream raises an eyebrow to her silence. "So. Turns out that a simulation of Shining Armor and Cadence are doin' fine. Ish. How're you doing? You been here long?"
[2016-08-03 17:00:10] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The crystal pony leads them to the back, where the cavern ends at a cross-passage.  In each direction, there are more huge double-doors, crafted in petrified wood.  To one side, the doors are slightly ajar, giving a glimpse of a throne chamber.
[2016-08-03 17:01:31] * Bookwright "So this is... nice. Is Her Empress the Lord of Dragons also nice? Mean? Short tempered? Can you give us a hint?"
[2016-08-03 17:01:52] <Mare-Do-Well> 3They cannot see much of it, but they can see the Dragon Lord's throne: a massive seat formed of hexagonal basalt pillars.  It is the size of a miniature mountain, and was clearly imported from the shore.
[2016-08-03 17:04:22] * Noble_Heart briefly glances through the doorway of the throneroom. "We imagine she must not get many visitors, considering all the warning signs, military emplacements, giant monsters and weapons along the way."
[2016-08-03 17:04:28] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The crystal mare turns to the opposite set of doors.  She sets a hoof into a knot in the petrified wood which sinks into the door.  There is an unsubtle "click".  Then she throws her weight into pushing one of the doors open.  As she does so, she answers Bookwright with a grunt.  "She is very nice.  She was nicer before the coup, though."
[2016-08-03 17:04:55] <Shatara> "Who wouldn't want to visit all the cool weapons?"
[2016-08-03 17:05:14] <Noble_Heart> "Coup?" That was concerning. "Someone attempted to seize power away from her?"
[2016-08-03 17:05:26] * Bookwright sees complete sincerity in Shatara's face and finds it oddly perplexing.
[2016-08-03 17:07:10] * Bookwright "Either that, or she means someone tried to punch her really hard."
[2016-08-03 17:07:28] * Bookwright frowns in momentary thought. "I suppose it could be both."
[2016-08-03 17:08:46] * Noble_Heart glances towards Bookwright. "Considering what We have seen of dragons? It is almost certainly both."
[2016-08-03 17:08:58] * Golden_Dream replies back to Shatara. "I'm jus' happy there weren't a demonstration." She waits for the Crystal maid's response before moving up to the room itself.
[2016-08-03 17:10:38] * Bookwright "Now that's not fair. The only dragons we've met so far have tried to annihilate us, eat us, and tell us to go away. That's hardly a fair sampling."
[2016-08-03 17:11:32] * Bookwright forestalls a comment about the hatchlings: "And I'm filing the hatchlings under 'eat us'. Have you seen what they've been doing to Mitzi?"
[2016-08-03 17:11:47] * Noble_Heart nods her head. "But consider the nature of one who would oppose the Dragon Lord. Do you really think they would be particularly civil about it?"
[2016-08-03 17:12:20] * Bookwright shrugs. "I don't know? Maybe they solve political problems through boxing matches. I literally don't know."
[2016-08-03 17:12:55] * Golden_Dream pushes through the door. "Bookie, when have things ever been that civil?"
[2016-08-03 17:13:58] * Bookwright has read a /lot/ of old-timey political cartoons. "Uh... a really long time ago, before the Big War Where Most Everybody Died?"
[2016-08-03 17:14:34] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The orange crystal pony gets the door open enough for Mitzi to get through, then steps back.  "Uh no," she says to Noble_Heart.  "Dragon Lord Ember wrenched power from Dragon Lord Garble after Garble got us all into that awful war."
[2016-08-03 17:15:29] * Bookwright "So how many bouts in the ring did Garble last? Did Ember win by knockout?"
[2016-08-03 17:15:40] * Noble_Heart blinks in some curiosity about that. "Ah." Well, she supposed that sometimes conflict had to happen. She stepped through the door cautiously. "Were the defenses put in place before or after that?" Not that she was really certain which answer would be more happy, but it was still an interesting question.
[2016-08-03 17:17:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The room beyond the door is the Scarlet Pools in miniture, yet somehow grander.  Lavafalls cascade down steps of lava pools in a huge room, the fiery light reflecting off the walls and ceiling of the cavern.  The room is blastingly hot.
[2016-08-03 17:17:31] * Bookwright "Does she take milk and sugar in her tea, just one, or neither?"
[2016-08-03 17:18:28] * Noble_Heart briefly shields her face with a wing against the heat, before slowly acclimating to the relative intensity. "We are not certain what else We expected a dragon to bathe in..."
[2016-08-03 17:19:55] * Bookwright "We saw dragons swimming in the Scarlet Pools, remember? It just makes sense the Dragon Lord would have her own Scarlet Pools."
[2016-08-03 17:21:12] * Golden_Dream immediately takes out her canteen and takes a swig. "Aaaand I recommend ya'll get hydrated real fast." She starts setting out before heading out into the throne room."
[2016-08-03 17:21:26] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Dragon Lord Ember is a long, graceful adult dragon with cerulean blue scales, indigo spines and curling, ivory horns.  She looks roughly as large as Spike... actually, she is larger, but with less mass, her body is thin and sinuous,

[2016-08-03 17:24:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Dragon Lord Ember looks over her visitors, taking in their measure, Her expression carefully controlled...
[2016-08-03 17:24:41] <Mare-Do-Well> 3... until She spots Hunter, and then the little hatchlings with Golden_Dream.
[2016-08-03 17:25:27] <Mare-Do-Well> 12"Oh, aren't you three just adorable!"
[2016-08-03 17:26:25] * Golden_Dream smiles. "Ain't they? Look at 'em. They're like lil' rolly polies, all nommin' on their tails."
[2016-08-03 17:26:54] * Bookwright "Definitely adorable, but altogether too much for us to handle. Not being dragons and all."
[2016-08-03 17:27:22] * Noble_Heart nods her head in agreement, looking at the babies. "In moderation, they are quite nice. In masse they are perhaps a bit much."
[2016-08-03 17:27:46] * Bookwright stretches out a hoof, encompassing the hatchlings. "These... are the children of the late Mother of Balefire."
[2016-08-03 17:29:15] <Mare-Do-Well> 12"The Mother of Balefire?"  The Dragon Lord speaks the title with a weight that shows She knows it.
[2016-08-03 17:29:24] * Bookwright "I say 'late' because we killed her, and 'children' because we cleansed the balefire eggs and they hatched."
[2016-08-03 17:29:40] * Golden_Dream folds her legs. "I'd be able t' get 'em all fed if we weren't goin' into a warzone." She pouts. She looks back up at the Dragon Lord. "Um. Hi. I, uh. I'm real bad at formal, so please fer'give me. But yeah, we sorta killed the mother of balefire. Turns out, she made a deal with the stars."
[2016-08-03 17:29:58] <Mare-Do-Well> 12Dragon Lord Ember turns a more inspecting eye on the hatchlings.
[2016-08-03 17:30:01] * Noble_Heart nods her head, somber and serious. "They were born of her. And in their birth, they undid her. She is gone, likely never to be seen again."
[2016-08-03 17:30:16] <Mare-Do-Well> 12"Cleansed.... how?"
[2016-08-03 17:30:43] * Bookwright "With life magic. It's all very confusing and woo-woo, unfortunately."
[2016-08-03 17:30:45] <Golden_Dream> "Aaand turns out, when y' set off a life megaspell in her house, it makes it so that th' balefire eggs hatched. Which broke th' terms of th' deal. And th' stars are angry bastards."
[2016-08-03 17:31:27] * Noble_Heart contemplates how to explain that. "We utilized a megaspell matrix with seeds containing the essence of life. A power which could overpower even the necromancy which turned these eggs into weapons to begin with. Based on what We know, the revivification of these dragons was likely a side-effect of such powerful magic that 'death' became impossible, for a brief time."
[2016-08-03 17:31:32] <Mare-Do-Well> 12"Try me.  You'll find I am more intelligent than your average Dragon Lord."
[2016-08-03 17:31:55] <Mare-Do-Well> 12Ember nods to Noble_Heart.  "And are they... okay?"
[2016-08-03 17:32:40] * Golden_Dream shrugs and looks at them. "Can't find any of 'em that aren't perfectly happy, healthy little tykes."
[2016-08-03 17:32:56] * Noble_Heart shrugs her wings. "They have not combusted, destroyed anything beyond what might be expected of a baby dragon or shown signs of necromantic powers. So We should assume they are likely fine. Though honestly Our experience with dragons is rather limited. And exposure to magic of that magnitude at such short distances will doubtless have long-term side effects. Though it is
[2016-08-03 17:32:56] * Noble_Heart unlikely, given the nature of the magic, that those side-effects will be hazardous."
[2016-08-03 17:34:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 12The Dragon Lord frowns.  "The side effects of megaspells are deep and far-reaching.  And can take paths that few if any would predict."
[2016-08-03 17:35:12] * Bookwright "At worst, hazardous. At best, completely unknown. These children weren't, and now they are because of powerful life megaspells. They're already different from normal hatchlings. How much the life magic changed them is a question only time can answer."
[2016-08-03 17:35:29] * Noble_Heart nods her head. "As I'm certain the existence of your maid can attest. Unfortunately We are uncertain what effects this one will have. It is not a spell which was carefully researched or planned. It was more an act of desperation at the time."
[2016-08-03 17:38:54] * Bookwright nods. "We pretty much were throwing magic against the wall and seeing what stuck."
[2016-08-03 17:40:27] * Mitzi pets Hunter's spines. She looks exceedingly impressed by the Dragon Lord. Upon hearing about the incident with Garble she gives a snort. "See, ponies figured out dat female Alphas eez bettur, now draguns did too. Uh'll probably be un uv da best," she remarks with a chuckle.
[2016-08-03 17:42:11] * Mitzi gives a respectful, sweeping bow to Ember, her paws held out to her sides, palms facing her. "Eet eez an honour to meet da Dragon Al- Lord. Yu have very gud taste een gems und decoration."
[2016-08-03 17:44:11] <Mare-Do-Well> 12Ember smiles to Mitzi and nods Her head respectfully.  "It is a pleasure."
