  2. [2014-10-24 18:52:18] <Domovoi> Assassin appears in front of you, though rather than rise up out of a shadow he seems to drop down out of the ceiling. Shizuka and Assassin head back out to the throne room, where you see the other Masters as something like dark, smudgy silhouettes with pinpricks of white for eyes.
  3. [2014-10-24 18:55:02] <Domovoi> From there, the three of you are able to quickly move across the water back to the warehouse. Distance seems to shrink and expand as you walk. Near the warehouse itself, you pass another dark smudge scrounging around, but Assassin ignores him and continues on. Shizuka comments, "Is this your first time?"
  4. [2014-10-24 18:57:02] * Ivanovich shrugs, "More or less. I've studied the theory and understand how it's done but I've never had the need."
  5. [2014-10-24 18:57:41] <Ivanovich> "Anything I've ever needed could be obtained from the family's library, or failing that, through my father's less reputable contacts."
  6. [2014-10-24 18:58:10] <Domovoi> "Well, this is sort of a less reputable method, too, I suppose."
  7. [2014-10-24 18:59:38] * Ivanovich waves his hand, "It's fine. Unlike the others, I've no qualms with resorting to 'alternative' methods. To arbitrarily bind yourself to some rules you've never agreed to in the first place."
  8. [2014-10-24 18:59:41] <Ivanovich> "Preposterous."
  9. [2014-10-24 19:00:19] <Domovoi> Assassin leads you initially towards the school, all of which is surrounded by a dark, swirling dome that appears to be made of smoke. "Ruler has made it difficult to peer into," he explains, then turns and goes a few blocks west. Here, near some apartments, the signs of a bounded circle are even more evident than they would be in the real world. Glowing red runes and symbols trace a wide arc across the ground and Assassin stops quite a ways short of it.
  10. [2014-10-24 19:01:17] * Ivanovich tosses his hair, "It's of no consequence. I've established my own scouts within her domain, though I suppose it's only a matter of time before she rids me of them."
  11. [2014-10-24 19:02:17] <Ivanovich> "...if she hasn't already." He pulses his magic, to see if they're still in the school.
  12. [2014-10-24 19:02:31] <Ivanovich> How large is the field?
  13. [2014-10-24 19:02:36] <Domovoi> They are, though their number appears diminished.
  14. [2014-10-24 19:03:47] <Domovoi> The field looks to cover the largest of the apartment complexes here and extends someways into the street. Getting closer to it, though, some of the markings look off. They've been duplicated nearly on top of each other, making everything a bit fuzzy.
  15. [2014-10-24 19:04:53] <Ivanovich> The field will detect me crossing over, right?
  16. [2014-10-24 19:05:11] <Ivanovich> Can I roll and attempt to disguise my approach?
  17. [2014-10-24 19:05:22] <Domovoi> You certainly can
  18. [2014-10-24 19:06:09] * Ivanovich holds a hand out to Shizuka, "Come on, I think I can get us in."
  19. [2014-10-24 19:07:04] <Domovoi> Shizuka looks wary, but takes Ivan's hand. Pulling her across feels like dragging her through invisible jello until you both get past the initial bonds of the circle. Assassin hovers outside looking vaguely worried. Nothing seems to trigger.
  20. [2014-10-24 19:09:48] <Domovoi> "This is deep in enemy territory. If a Servant is out here, he could spot us."
  21. [2014-10-24 19:10:06] * Ivanovich holds his other hand out as if to ward away the edges of the bounded field, until finally he and his passenger are through. "Then we need to do this quickly."
  22. [2014-10-24 19:10:52] * Ivanovich blinks a few times and waves his hand over his eyes, "Can you see through my eyes, Assassin? Can they interfere with our communication?"
  23. [2014-10-24 19:13:22] <Domovoi> "I can hear you, but not see through you."
  24. [2014-10-24 19:15:17] <Ivanovich> "Whatever the case, we're going in. I'll call for you if I need you. But let's hope it doesn't come to that."
  25. [2014-10-24 19:17:00] <Domovoi> He nods. Shizuka does the same. "If we need to, I can rematerialize us out here. The two of us can't fight on this side."
  26. [2014-10-24 19:18:15] <Ivanovich> "Let's not speak of such unpleasant things."
  27. [2014-10-24 19:19:57] <Domovoi> "Do you want to just take a look inside?" Shizuka starts towards the apartments. "Let's hurry."
  28. [2014-10-24 19:20:40] <Ivanovich> "Ideally, we can get an idea of their identities as well, but we'll do as we go."
  29. [2014-10-24 19:23:38] <Domovoi> The ground floor of the apartments is the lobby and immediately Ivan can see that things are off. Shadows and strange glares cling to the furniture and the walls. Shizuka looks around. "In zhe material world, zhis place is glamoured. Quite heavily."
  30. [2014-10-24 19:24:20] <Ivanovich> "As I would expect."
  31. [2014-10-24 19:25:17] * Ivanovich flits through the lobby and looks around for the highest concentrations of magic. I wonder where they've set up."
  32. [2014-10-24 19:26:03] <Domovoi> There are a couple dormant seals in strategic places, mostly stairwells and behind doors. The highest concentrations of magic are somewhere above the two of you.
  33. [2014-10-24 19:28:04] <Ivanovich> Does my roll from earlier apply here or was that roll just for finding the lobby itself?
  34. [2014-10-24 19:29:49] <Domovoi> Ah, yes. Heading upstairs, Ivan and Shizuka find that the place is likely condemned in the real world given the amount of broken everythings, but some of the suites are still in working order. There are more people here than seems typical for a run down complex and something gives you pause before the fourth floor. The magic Ivan feels is too great to be a spell or a mage, but must be a Servant.
  35. [2014-10-24 19:31:39] <Ivanovich> "I don't want to turn back just yet. But how quickly can you return rematerialize us to our bodies. And can they trace it?"
  36. [2014-10-24 19:33:28] <Domovoi> Shizuka hisses quietly. "Ooooh, we are in our bodies right now. Zhe are fully immaterial, so we will break through right here. Zhey won't trace our steps, but we will be in zhe circles."
  37. [2014-10-24 19:36:43] * Ivanovich frowns, "Assassin, what are your thoughts? Not as a servant trying to keep me from dying, but as a king who needs something done?"
  38. [2014-10-24 19:37:37] <Domovoi> "The needs of the king outweight the threat of death. You, at least, I can shield from it."
  39. [2014-10-24 19:38:39] * Ivanovich smirks, "Interesting. Well, I'm pushing on ahead ten."
  40. [2014-10-24 19:39:13] <Ivanovich> then*
  41. [2014-10-24 19:39:39] <Ivanovich> "If Assassin is protecting me, then I suppose I can protect you, if you even need it."
  42. [2014-10-24 19:40:01] <Domovoi> Shizuka stays where she is. "No, I will stay here. Lancer may be invicible, but his Master is not."
  43. [2014-10-24 19:40:59] * Ivanovich shrugs, "Suit yourself. I'll keep you up to date with our mental link."
  44. [2014-10-24 19:42:46] <Domovoi> Sneaking further up into the tower of doom, Ivan worms his way through the next floor. Some more people, probably squatters, and then he manages to poke his head into the room with the Servant. The Servant's form is more chaotic than the people - a roughly human shape made of static and white noise lounges in an oversized armchair in front of a tv. Looks like some kind of video game console is on the ground and there's snack food

  46. [2014-10-24 19:43:47] * Ivanovich continues with his approach, feeling more robust in his spectral form than he ever has in his natural body.
  47. [2014-10-24 19:45:34] <Domovoi> Ivan edges into the room without a lot of difficulty. The Servant, once he's closer, appears to be a woman from the body shape. Thin shadows, something less than people, cluster around her. She's eating Cheetwos.
  48. [2014-10-24 19:47:48] * Ivanovich communicates with Shizuka, <One servant appears to be a woman. Shadow things surround her form. She may be the one who sent those homonculi after us. Perhaps their Caster."
  49. [2014-10-24 19:49:00] <Domovoi> <Not very specific, but a start.>
  50. [2014-10-24 19:50:38] <Ivanovich> Any personal effects/things not hindered in the room that might clue me in?
  51. [2014-10-24 19:52:12] <Domovoi> There's a whole lot of junk food to start with. Looking around the rest of the apartment, Ivan determines this girl spends a lot of time shopping - there's bags and clothes all over the bedroom in big piles. As for weapons, she doesn't have anything apparent on her.
  52. [2014-10-24 19:55:44] <Domovoi> Ivan can feel another presence start moving in the building. He hears Shizuka <Do you feel zhat?>
  53. [2014-10-24 19:56:52] <Ivanovich> <Yes.>
  54. [2014-10-24 19:57:10] <Ivanovich> Does the presence seem to make itself known? And is it a power on the magnitude of another Servant?
  55. [2014-10-24 19:58:06] <Domovoi> It's definitely Servant class. And it's headed down towards you and this first Servant.
  56. [2014-10-24 19:58:57] <Ivanovich> Probably can't go back from where I come from. I guess I'll just have to hide
  57. [2014-10-24 20:01:07] <Domovoi> Before it gets any closer, a hand shoots up from the floor, wraps about your ankle, and pulls you straight down to the floor beneath you. Shizuka sets you on the ground and signals to be quiet. <We're leaving now.>
  58. [2014-10-24 20:01:41] * Ivanovich opens his mouth to say something but thinks better of it and nods.
  59. [2014-10-24 20:04:18] <Domovoi> Before the two of you turn to go, something else drops through the ceiling: the girl Servant's head. She looks down at the two of you. "I thought I smelled a Slav."
  60. [2014-10-24 20:05:42] * Ivanovich waves back at her and smiles, but says nothing.
  61. [2014-10-24 20:06:00] <Domovoi> Shizuka takes Ivan's wrist and yanks him through the rest of the building. "No, we are running away now."
  62. [2014-10-24 20:06:19] * Ivanovich communicates with Shizuka but lets himself be dragged away, <I think I have a fan.>
  63. [2014-10-24 20:08:19] <Domovoi> She practically princess carries you the rest of the way out of the building towards where Assassin is waiting outside the circle. Shizuka tosses you to him with surprising force, yet gentleness. "Go, go!" And as Assassin turns there's a loud SNAP like a cord being cut and one of the circles rises into a clouded dome behind you. Shizuka is inside.

  65. [2014-10-24 20:10:39] <Domovoi> Assassin starts to cart Ivan off. "Leaving her to die."
  66. [2014-10-24 20:14:04] * Ivanovich considers Koschei's words and shrugs, seemingly accepting of the fact but then says, "No. It's too early to be tossing away pieces. We can't lose a Master like this. It'll only hurt us in the long run. We're getting her back."
  67. [2014-10-24 20:14:52] <Domovoi> "I will not permit you to return there."
  68. [2014-10-24 20:15:37] <Ivanovich> "You are not The Master in this relationship."
  69. [2014-10-24 20:18:53] <Ivanovich> "A king takes what he pleases, does he not? The other masters are /mine/ whether they know it or not. I will choose when and where I wish to discard them."
  70. [2014-10-24 20:20:32] <Domovoi> "You already discarded her. The choice was yours."
  71. [2014-10-24 20:21:30] <Ivanovich> How does Shizuka seem to be reacting to this?
  72. [2014-10-24 20:22:09] <Ivanovich> Panicking or does she seem to have a plan?
  73. [2014-10-24 20:23:40] <Domovoi> I may not have been totally clear. Shizuka is inside the magic circle, obscured, while you two are outside.
  74. [2014-10-24 20:24:07] <Ivanovich> Is my mental link still working?
  75. [2014-10-24 20:24:38] <Domovoi> If it is, she isn't saying anything.
  76. [2014-10-24 20:25:50] <Ivanovich> Then at the same time that he asks Assassin he sends out a pulse asking very much the same thing, <What are you doing?>
  77. [2014-10-24 20:26:40] <Domovoi> The response is quite clear. Looking at the circle, Ivan can feel the exact moment the thought hits the edge of the barrier and then dissipates. She can't hear him.
  78. [2014-10-24 20:26:53] <Domovoi> So we'll stop here and give Ivan time to deliberate.
  79. [2014-10-24 20:27:00] <Ivanovich> Well, I burn a Command Seal
  80. [2014-10-24 20:27:08] <Ivanovich> We'll start the next session with that in mind
  81. [2014-10-24 20:28:34] <Domovoi> Okie dokie.
