275.

 276.
 277.
Since she was a young girl, Megan always enjoyed making friends and going out with them. Living in Lexington,
 278. South Carolina, there wasn't much to do except make friends. She was the oldest of three girls and she was close to her sisters. She was a well rounded young girl. Though not the most studious of people, she still got by and was even told she had potential to do something great in her life. That all changed with the death of her father.

 279.
 280.
It was in high school, her junior year, when her father got into a terrible accident on his way to work. Due to the suddenness of it all, it had been hard for Megan to process the whole thing. She couldn't even grieve properly because she didn't know how. Her family had meant the world to her and to lose one of the crucial members of it just felt like she couldn't breathe. After that, Megan's life hadn't been the same. She wasn't the same.

 281.
 282.
When senior year came around, Megan completely stopped trying. She still went out with friends, but it was much more intense than before and for different reasons than she once did. Partying with people - strangers or friends - had become some sort of relief for the girl and that's where her spiral began. Her and her mother would often fight about her whereabouts when Megan would arrive home late in the morning, if she even went home at all. One day, Megan just had enough and declared that she was leaving, dropping out of school. Her mother didn't take her threats seriously until one night, Megan packed up all her essentials and got on a one way bus to Tallahassee, Florida.

 283.
 284.
For awhile, she was homeless, staying in the streets or at whatever shelter would have her. The shelter eventually helped her find a job as a waitress where she worked for years, allowing her to save up money to live in a crummy apartment with crummy roommates.

 285.
 286.
Shortly after her 21st birthday, one night at the diner, she met a woman who took a strange interest in her. She went on and on until she told Megan that she had a great job opportunity that would change her life for the better. Obviously, the girl was skeptic. It all sounded sketchy, but in the back of her mind, she was curious. It wasn't like she had much to lose to begin with. So, she agreed to check it out. After her shift, she went to the address provided to her. Lo and behold, it would be a strip club. Confused at first, Megan was about to turn around and go home - until she didn't. For some reason, she convinced herself to check it out and after that, the rest was history.

 287.
 288.
Being a stripper was obviously not something she had planned for herself, but she found herself to be rather good at it and the money was good. It was beyond better than the tips and wages she made over at the diner. She eventually saved enough money to leave her crummy apartment and her crummy roommates to afford a loft for herself. The strip club opened a new world for her. She found new friends she could use to go out and earn a new sense of relief. Of course, that also meant experimenting with drugs she had never even heard of before, but it was a relief she needed, although a dangerous one.

 289.
 290.
Years go by with Megan still doing the same thing. It became routine for her, something she couldn't seem to break. Soon, she began to feel unwell, but shrugged it off as nothing serious. When she found strange ugly bruises over her body, she decided it was time to check in with a doctor. Everything had been a blur once the test confirmed she had cancer - that she was dying. It was an advance case of Leukemia and the doctors didn't give her too much time left. Then they provided her with options. She could try experimental treatments or go with the usual chemotherapy and radiation. Then they gave her the final option - San Junipero.

 291.
 292.
Megan had heard about this before. She remembered reading the headline when it was released to the public. She was skeptical, of course, but the doctors told her she could try it on a weekly trial just to test it out and decide if she really wanted it in the end when it was time to pass. She agreed and once again, her life would change completely.
