- Ever wonder "How I can help with #OpSafeWinter?" Anyone can help, even in the smallest of ways. What seems small to you may be a lifesaver for someone else. Don't ignore those who are experiencing homelessness, say a kind word. Don't walk past other humans, talk to them. Remember, humans are NOT invisible and ignoring a situation because it makes you uncomfortable just perpetuates a social problem.
- Here is a small list of items that are always needed. You can donate to a shelter or directly to those you see in need.
- Winter and weather gear (such as hats, mittens, coats, and boots)
- Small hygiene items (like the type of items you get at hotels, small containers of shampoo, toothpaste, small bars of soap, toothbrush, etc.) most dollar stores carry these items.
- Socks
- First aid items (such as anti-bacteria ointment, Band-Aids, hand sanitizers, )
- Secondary medical items (such as sunscreen, lotions, lip balm, allergy medication and tissues)
- Bus passes (great for helping them get to job interviews)
- Books
- Backpacks
- Remember, kindness is contagious.
