- Greetings Dr. Yuji Ohya,
- I have seen some reports on your development of a "wind lens" to increase the power generation of wind turbines. Fascinating work! In your paper, I noticed that you listed on only one negative aspect of the development:[1]
- ---
- (5) As for demerits, wind load to a wind turbine and structural weight are increased.
- ---
- I wanted to inquire as to whether you foresee any additional difficulties with respect to scaling this device. For instance:
- - Does your system require particularly high rpms, and if so, might these be difficult to attain with a device larger than your lab-scale device?
- - Have any simulations or experiments been conducted to predict the energy gains at an industrial sized wind turbine size? In other words, if you are achieving an X% increase over bare wind turbines for your 1m size, what power gains would be predicted for the final size? (Or should these gains remain fairly constant?)
- Many thanks for any response you can provide.
- Best regards,
- ---
