1. Andrew Hussie substory
2. ----
3.
4. [ah1] Outer shot of Skaianet Laboratories: a nondescript office building with a few cars parked in front of it and the "SN" logo visible on the side of the building.
5.
6. We are writing to you on behalf of our client, Skaianet Laboratories Inc. hereinafter Skaianet).
7.
8. [ah2] A suit-wearing executive, in a large office, leaning back in a chair and on the (old-fashioned club-shaped coil-corded) phone with someone. The executive's back is to the viewer and there is a large CRT display, with keyboard and mouse, on the desk. The display shows what could be the MSPA website, at least in layout (although most of the details will be impossible to make out due to small size); the picture visible is clearly that of a meteor and the Sburb logo.
9.
10. It has recently come to our attention that you, Andrew Hussie, have created and are profiting from a webcomic, "MS Paint Adventures", that makes use of the trademarks "Skaianet", "Sburb", and the Sburb logo that are property of Skaianet. No one is authorized to reproduce, copy, transmit, otherwise utilize, or profit from all intellectual property rights related to the "Sburb" project without the express written permission of Skaianet.
11.
12. [ah3] Andrew Hussie, in the style used within his own MSPA cameos, sits at a table, holding a photograph frame in his hand. The photo is not visible to the viewer. Andrew Hussie's shirt is black and depicts the Midnight Crew.
13.
14. After reviewing your website, we must request that you remove all material relating to "Homestuck", "Skaianet", "Sburb", the Sburb logo, and related intellectual property from your website as soon as possible.
15.
16. [ah4] Zoomed picture of AH's hand holding the photograph. The photograph is of what might be a company gathering or picnic. In the photo, he and several coworkers are wearing Skaianet t-shirts and lanyards with keycards on them, to signify that they all work at the company.
17.
18. You are hereby put on notice that the unauthorized use of Skaianet's trademarks, as well as the reproduction, sale and/or distribution by you of such unauthorized and/or derivative materials (including providing such items for free on the Internet) constitutes trademark infringement as well as copyright infringement, and may subject you to both criminal and civil sanctions.
19.
20. [ah5] Andrew Hussie has thrown that photograph down on the floor; the frame is broken and there is broken glass in front of him.
21.
22. We also request that you remove all existing posts and prohibit all future posts in your associated discussion site, "MSPA Forums", that contain reference to the infringing "Skaianet" and "Sburb" material. You are hereby put on notice that liability for contributory copyright infringement can emanate from your providing such a discussion site.
23.
24. [ah6] A "screenshot" of a Rules post in MSPA forums that says, in very large type, that "All discussion of Homestuck is no longer allowed and may result in a ban."
25.
26. Please understand that if you do not remove these infringing materials without delay, we will be forced to recommend to Skaianet that it take appropriate legal action against you to have them removed.
27.
28. We expect you to respect this letter. Thank you for your cooperation.
29.
30. [ah6] A "screenshot" of the front page of MSPA, showing this legal letter, a screenshot of which has been scribbled upon by Andrew with circles and captions (the captions are too small to read). However, when you scroll down, the first newspost says something about Homestuck being taken down due to legal challenges and that MSPA will be on break for several days while Andrew figures out what to do next.
31.
32. Sincerely,
33. Steven Postman of Postman & Sons LLP
34.
35. [ah7] A "screenshot" of the front page of MSPA, now showing Ryanquest.
