  1. The Hoenn region. The land of volcanoes, meteors, seaside towns, and even home to quite a few legendary Pokemon this time around. The game starts off with Professor Birch and his Azurill from the GameBoy versions of Ruby and Sapphire. It then pans out to a 3d moving truck while explaining the basics like every Pokemon game. Here, you create your character. When you arrive at your new home, your mother comes out to greet you, and as soon as you and Mommy go inside, the first major change to the Hoenn region is right in front of your face! Three dimensional Machokes moving boxes! Oh the nostalgia! When you go to set your clock, the game automatically set it for you! It's the little things that excite us all, huh? Once you go to Route 101 to meet Professor Birch, you are presented your choice of starter Pokemon: Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip. Personally, I chose Mudkip, because who doesn't liek Mudkipz? The starter you choose effects the mega stone you receive later on in the game. The vibrant colors are my favorite aspect of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Never have I ever seen a remake with colors this great.
