HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:

Every Monday at  approximately 12 Noon EST, a blindfold test thread will be started. In this thread I will provide download links for a zip containing ten mystery tracks. Those who are interested in participating should download these tracks and listen to them at their convenience through that week. The next week we will all post our thoughts, comments, and guesses about the tracks and the players in the thread, then at approximately 9:00 PM (EST) the track info for that week will be revealed and a new mystery tracklist will be posted for that week. If you would rather listen to the tracks and post your thoughts immediately, the links for the current week's tracklist will be provided in the OP of each thread as well.

LISTENING SUGGESTIONS:

It is suggested that you listen to one track at a time and write down your thoughts about that track while listening to it, or right after, before moving on to the next track. In the traditional blindfold test, you would hear each track only once, but you may wish to relisten to them more before writing down your thoughts. This is fine too, especially for those who don't have a lot of experience listening to jazz. Then copy and paste your original thoughts into the thread the next week, without editing based on what others are posting. Guessing the players is always fun, but the real idea here is to give your unbiased thoughts about the music. You can discuss the composition or arrangement, the soloists, recording quality, or hopefully all of the above. The main goal of the thread is to have fun listening to music in a different way and discussing it with others. Feel free to write as much or as little about the tracks as you want.
