The Cooltrainer glitch is a fairly new glitch useful in the Catch em All category.

To setup this glitch you need to have a pokemon with the move Transform.

You must then encounter a wild pokemon that has more total moves than you.

Transform into the opposing pokemon and before the next turn swap your top move with your bottom move.

Then simply finish the battle (catch, kill, or run from the opposing pokemon)

Your pokemon now has the cooltrainer move!


The way this is useful for the speedrun is you can manipulate a pokemon to appear based on the last tile you were standing on.

To make a pokemon appear you must:

1) Make sure the pokemon with cooltrainer is in front of your team AND has no status ailment ex: burn

2) Move to the specific tile you want

3) Open your menu and fly to Vermilion city.

FROM HERE UNTIL THE END DO NOT OPEN YOUR MENU AGAIN

4) Walk to Diglett's Cave

5) Encounter a wild diglett or dugtrio

6) Continuously click on Fight to view your moves then press B to return to the selection (do this over and over until your pokemon mutates)

7) Once the pokemon mutates throw your masterball!

8) Dig out of the cave


We don't exactly know what causes cooltrainer to work or not, but occasionally the pokemon will not mutate. if this is the case typically changing boxes and trying again can remedy the problem.
