Untitled Lich Short

>You've always thought of yourself as a warrior of justice, fighting for your beliefs in an objective manner, never taking sides based on race, age or gender
>Due to your duties you've never managed to settle down, at one point you did have your heart set on a nice farm girl from your village but she married during your absence
>Even at the old age you are now you still continue to fight for your hope of a world living in harmony
>One day during a routine patrol you sight an injured Lich being chased down by a group of men in shoddily pieced together armor, bandits
>There's at least six of them, too many for a man your age, even with all your experience and superior equipment you stand no chance against such numbers
>The facts are harsh but they don't stop you from following your ideals and leaping into battle with a roar that has struck fear into many a man in your time
>You catch the first man by surprise, cracking his skull under your mace. The others look surprised for a moment before quickly taking battle formation with their blood lust clearly showing
>One of the remaining five recklessly charges you, they may have the numbers advantage but bandits aren't known for their intelligence
>He swings his sword downwards with too much wasted movement allowing you plenty of time to deflect it with your shield and swing your weapon with enough force to shatter his spine
>It's then it hits you, the painful sensation of of steel cutting down to the bone in your arm. Your shield drops to the floor and you wildly swing in the direction of your attacker
>He ducks, frustratingly avoiding your attack by a hair
>The fourth man follows up with sudden blow to the back of your head causing you to collapse to the floor, you can feel your consciousness slipping
>It's funny, they always told you that in your last moments your life flashes before your eyes but you find that your last moments are spent hoping that the Lich girl managed to escape
At least you considered those to be your last moments
>You find yourself opening your eyes to a poorly lit room, your body aches although you feel no pain from the wounds you sustained
>"So this must be heaven" you groggily say out loud
>You've barely finished speaking when something soft presses against your lips
>"You're an idiot"
>The combination of kiss and the monotone voice startles you but before you can react you feel a weight on your chest
>You strain your eyes to see in the dark start to notice the outline of a girl in front of you
>The gears in your head start turning, it's only once your eyes fully adjust and you realise who the girl is that you piece together what has happened
>"You're a reckless idiot, even if my body was destroyed it wouldn't have been the end for me"
>You stutter as you try to explain your actions but she cuts you off with another kiss, this one much more passionate and intense
>"Still, I don't dislike idiots" She says, her facial expression unchanging
>Resurrected as the partner of a Lich? You never expected this kind of end to your life as a warrior but you can think of much worse ways to end up
>You close your eyes and embrace your new found monotone master
>Your days of being a warrior of justice may be over but you plan to protect this girl as her undead knight
