- Name: Ozwed (Ozzie) Hen
- Description:
- Ozzie is a skinny Durosian, standing at about 1.7m. Usually clad in a dirty worker's jumper, Ozzie dresses himself without particular care. He slings his gear from his utility belts and bandoliers, or stuffs them into a toolkit he lugs around. He usually wears a skullcap, covering his bald head. There is a patch of pale skin under his right eye, burned by engine backfire.
- He carries himself with a sort of cocky disdain. He can be grumpy and hard to get along with, regarding everyone else as less intelligent or capable. However, in the seat of the cockpit or elbows-deep into a hyperdrive engine, he lets go of his attitude and focuses 100% on his pursuits. Ozzie's not an idiot, and won't let his attitude get him into trouble- not that deep, anyway.
- Why is your character willing to fight the Empire?:
- Ozzie has never been a huge fan of the Empire- he holds a fairly anti-establishment position. He sees the Empire's restrictions and regulations as choking the life out of the galaxy, and can't stand their use of organized crime and slavery to strongarm the little men. However, in Truth, Ozzie isn't particularily "Willing" to fight the empire at all. He started to do supply runs for them as part of a bigger conglomerate, but began to skim a little off the top, pedaling extra parts and goods to the Rebellion on the cheap. In this way, Ozzie felt like he was doing a part against the Empire.
- Why did the Empire want to Capture you?:
- After a few too many jet fuel canisters went missing. the Empire started to get real suspicious with its traders. They targeted non-humans first, rooting out smugglers and thieves with ruthless precision. Ozzie's particular crew was fairly quiet on the radar, but got captured nonetheless. With no way to save their hides, Ozzie was betrayed and forked over as a culprit so the rest of the crew could escape.
- Obligation:
- -Ozzie wants revenge, or at least closure against his old pilot buddies. He sort of obsesses over their betrayal, blaming it partially on jealously and other small quarrels between them. He would go out of his way to pursue them if they came up in his sights, but doesn't know exactly what he would do once he found them. He'd be VERY hesistant/unhappy to work alongside them.
- -Ozzie got started with spaceships after tutoring under an older Duros named Sal Jem. Sal was an elderly trader that found Ozzie living a placid life as a young thug, and offered him training in the ways of the traveler. Ozzie took to the job miraculously, and inhereted his first ship from Sal. This ship would go on to be his primary trading vessel, which was lost in the betrayal. Ozzie would normally do just about anything for Sal out of sheer gratitude, but might see himself as a huge failure after losing the ship.
- Backstory:
- Ozzie was born on a backwater urban world, where he grew up as a thug, siphoning cash from the unawares wealthy and shaking down innocents that got in his way. In his teens he met Sal, an elderly Duros who sought to pass on his traveler's knowledge. This resonated with Ozzie, who had never left his homeworld. After years of training, he inhereted the ship and left Sal behind, and formed a new trading company, running goods for whoever would pay him. He amassed a crew of a dozen creative individuals, and Ozzie felt like part of a family for the first time. One member in particular, a fellow pilot, became a beloved friend, attached at the hip to Ozzie.
- The Empire, as it grew, became one of their biggest customers, offering lots of money for relatively safe runs. Ozzie's first run in with the rebellion was when he lost a shipment to a Rebellion ambush- they didn't harm him, but explained how the Empire was subjugating the nearby planets and that doing their runs was only prolonging the torment. Ozzie heard truth in this, and behind his crew's back, began to siphon extra money and supplies, leaving it behind for the Rebellion to recover. The Empire grew wise to this occuring throughout the galaxy and began to crack down on would-be smugglers like Ozzie.
- While behind pursued by an Empire cruiser for inspection, the crew grew nervous. Had they been betrayed? Ozzie grew frantic, and gave himself up to his crew- he had been siphoning the extra supplies. He explained his reasoning, the rebellion, the cause- but the crew was cold to it, shaken by his treachery. The particularly hurt members, their bodyguard and navigator, bound him up and sent him out in an escape pod with the missing supplies, and warped away during the confusion. . . Ozzie doesn't know if they told the others, or just said that he turned himself in.
