  1. As a Level 15 player, I can drive _and steer_ very well with Manual _without_ the tilt/gyro controls.
  2. While this control scheme _cannot_ steer naturally, it _can_ however be done with the following technique:
  3.
  4. - Start a drift by swiping a finger from middle to the left or right, wherever you want to go.
  5. - For the sake of clear explanation, keep an eye on _when_ your kart begins drifting (i.e. you see smoke, your kart twists into a drift stance, etc.)
  6. - Then, just let go of the drift soon after. I define "soon" to be within 0.3 (or 3/10ths) of a second, or less, since your drift started. This timing affects how efficient the steering will be. It is by no means strict, so keep practising and adjusting your timing(s) until you feel comfortable.
  7.
  8. - If you need to continue turning, repeat all the steps above - rinse and repeat! If you steered too far in, you can of course do it in the opposite direction.
  9. Note: for sharp turns you still want to drift normally. Don't push into the walls too hard or your drift may stop. Lastly, to charge a Mini-Turbo on a straight line (on the ground) while drifting, the game generously allows you to drift in a (nearly) straight line if you hold your drift as far out as possible for a long time.
  10.
  11. If you're good with Manual drift (or getting there), I actually wouldn't recommend learning the tilt/gyro controls - they're confusing to learn at first (drifting requires your fingers and cannot be controlled by tilting) and I'm more comfortable without them (my phone screen is too tall).
