SFW - Sweet Summer Morning

The sun shone through the window, waking me from a dead sleep. As I began to stir, I noticed your arms wrapped loosely around my body, the warmth of your own against my flesh. I tried to piece together how we wound up in my bed last night. Better yet, how did I wind up naked and in your arms?

I slid out of your arms and walked to the window, opening it to let the warm breeze air out the room. The sun had barely risen above the apple trees, warming my skin in a new, yet somehow familiar way. The grass was heavy with dew from what must have been a summertime shower the night before. Out in the backyard, I spotted a bluebird on the porch. I must have startled it, because it flew out in the direction of the hill behind my house, the one with the oak tree at the top. Hearing you breathe deeply, I turn around and see a trail of clothes leading from the bed out into the hallway.

The dew. The tree. The trail. The events of last night flashed before my eyes: our walk through the fields, the rainstorm causing us to run from under the oak tree atop the hill. The taste of your kiss as we fumbled our way through the front door.

You whispering in my ear, "I want you."

Me whispering, "Take me."

A shiver travelled through my body as I realized what had happened. And, in a way, I was relieved. Never before had anything happened to me like this. Never before had I wanted someone so badly as I wanted you. Addicted would be a more appropriate term, for, in that moment, I felt like I would die if I couldn't feel you, hold you, kiss you once more.

As I laid down next to you, snuggling back into your arms, I couldn't help but feel completely content with the world. As the birds sang their songs out the window, a smile came to my lips as I pressed them softly against yours. Sleepily, you groaned as your eyes slowly opened. I couldn't help but smile that much more.

"Good morning, my dear, my love."
