  24. Backstory:
  25. Simonius was a simple librarian in the vast City-Castle of Veneficium. His father
  26. was a low ranking Mage serving as one of the countless attendents to the Sorcerer-Lords, and his
  27. mother was a book copier. As he had little to no magical talents, he became a menial laborer, endlessly copying books, writing up collections of large amounts of pointless data, and helping mages of all sorts with their arcane research, usually working as a patsy, a busybody, or occasionally a test subject. He made many friends in high places through this work, becoming moderatly esteemd in Veneficium as a very good worker, someone who knew how to work alchemical equipement and organize large amounts of data, potions, inventories and the like. His main interest however, was the Windegoes. The creatures facinated him, their powers, their abilities, and most of all their mystery. Why had they returned? What was their purpose? What, or who, created them? It was the seeking the answers to this mystery that led to his downfall. Simonius delved too deep into the ancient knowledge of the Sorcerer-Lords, and broke rank in discovering secrets nop0ny of his status was intended to know. For his trangressions he was called before the Sorcerers to pay for his transgressions, but due to his reputation as being harmless, he was not sent to the catacombs, as was standard precedure, but was instead horn-clipped, and banished from Veneficium, never to return. His wandering took him deep into the icy snows of the new world, armed only with his wits, his pistol, and an Amulet of great power, a relic of his research that he managed to escape with.
