  1. // Hero that plays like TF2's Spy, changing deck identity to evade villain or environment effects and sabotage hostiles from behind the scenes.
  2. // Squishy and often deals damage to himself for effects, but has some powerful moves.
  3. ===
  4. Enigma (24 HP)
  5. Enigma counts as a card from the deck in this play area. If that deck isn't yours, it is Infiltrated.
  6. (If there are no hero targets in play, the heroes lose.)
  7. Man of a Thousand Faces
  8. Power: Search your deck or your trash for an Identity and put it into play. If you searched your deck, shuffle it.
  9. Description: A dark-skinned man of average build with short black hair and a conspiratorial smile. He's wearing a generic three-piece suit and holding up a set of cards as if revealing a hand of playing cards- but each card is a different ID, showing a different variation of his face and verifying him as a member of a different organization.
  10.
  11. Enigma (Incapacitated)
  12. - Shuffle a trash into its deck.
  13. - One player may play a card now.
  14. - Select a target. Reduce the next damage dealt by that target by 2.
  15. Description: Enigma tied to a chair, spotlit in the middle of a darkened room. He is slumping forward, his face bruised and swollen.
  16.
  17. Equipment (Qty: 5)
  18. ---
  19. Circuit Breaker (Equipment, Qty: 3)
  20. Play this card in an Infiltrated play area. When a Device card in this play area would be dealt damage, you may increase that damage by 2 and destroy this card.
  21. Power: Enigma deals each target in this play area 1 lightning damage.
  22. Description: Close-up of a small silver-colored device pinned to an arcane-looking "access panel" in the Ruins of Atlantis.
  23. Quote: "Where did you get one of--?" "Same place as your bosses, probably." -K.N.Y.F.E. and Enigma
  24. // There are two main types of card that go in an Infiltrated play area: ones that only last as long as Enigma is infiltrating that deck, and ones that can survive if Enigma leaves.
  25. // This is the second type- it's a device he can set up and then activate remotely.
  26.
  27. Brittle Plating (Equipment, Qty: 2)
  28. Play this card in an Infiltrated play area.
  29. Damage dealt to targets in this play area is irreducible.
  30. At the start of your turn, destroy this card.
  31. Description: Enigma hanging a set of body armor on a rack with several matching sets.
  32. Quote: "Huh. Feels lighter than usual." "I heard it's some new alloy." -Blade Battalion soldiers
  33. // Once you're walking around inside the bad guys' base, one of the best places to visit is the armory. Don't check anything out- that might look suspicious. But if you can sneak stuff /in/...
  34.
  35. Equipment, Limited (Qty: 2)
  36. ---
  37. Spring-Loaded Knife (Equipment, Limited, Qty: 2)
  38. Increase damage dealt by Enigma to Infiltrated targets by 1.
  39. Whenever an Infiltrated target is destroyed, you may destroy this card. If you do not, increase damage dealt to Enigma by Infiltrated targets by 1 until the start of the next turn.
  40. Description: Enigma and Zhu Long in a similar pose to K.N.Y.F.E. and Choke on For the Greater Good, except that Enigma is attacking from behind. His outfit is that of a Shinobi Assassin from the neck down, and his weapon isn't visible even in silhouette- only the pose and the shocked expression on Zhu Long's face indicate that this is an attack.
  41. Quote: "The 'element of surprise' isn't an asset. It's a consequence of failure." -Enigma
  42. // A concealed weapon provides one hell of an edge, but only as long as your "buddies" aren't suspicious enough to frisk you for it. It might be safer to get rid of it...
  43. // This will also be a theme in the deck- mess with the villains too much without being subtle about it, and they won't believe you're one of them.
  44.
  45. Ongoing (Qty: 9)
  46. ---
  47. Exit Strategy (Ongoing, Qty: 3)
  48. Play this card next to an Infiltrated target. When that target would deal damage to a hero target, Enigma may first destroy this card.
  49. When this card is destroyed, Enigma deals the target next to this card 3 melee damage. Then, if that target is still in play, move Enigma to your play area.
  50. If Enigma or the target next to this card leaves this play area, destroy this card.
  51. Description: Enigma walking the halls of a Mobile Defense Platform alongside Citizen Dare.
  52. Quote: "Gene hasn't reported in? Eh. Probably just slacking as usual." -Citizen Truth
  53. // The other category of cards played outside your play area: a strategy that only lasts as long as Enigma is in one place to use it.
  54. // Here we see Enigma shadowing a particular target, so that he's ready to turn on them if they become a threat to the good guys, or to leave them the worse for wear on his way out.
  55. // If they don't go down after the first attack, though, his identity is compromised!
  56.
  57. Network Credentials (Ongoing, Qty: 2)
  58. Play this card next to a non-character Infiltrated target. When that target leaves play, destroy this card.
  59. Power: The target next to this card deals 1 or more non-hero targets 3 lightning damage each. If Enigma was dealt no damage this way, move him to your play area and destroy this card.
  60. Description: One of Ambuscade's automated turrets spinning wildly, targeting Ambuscade and several of his devices.
  61. Quote: "It's not really hacking if they give you the password on purpose." - Enigma
  62. // This is his biggest repeatable damage-dealer, and as such requires a big drawback- he has to hit himself with it to keep up the masquerade, and it goes away if the thing he's hacking is destroyed.
  63. // Technically it will stay in play if he leaves the play area- but if you use it while he's a hero target, it'll be toast unless there are some redirection shenanigans at work.
  64.
  65. Safe Harbor (Ongoing, Qty: 2)
  66. At the start of your turn, if Enigma is in a hero play area, Enigma regains 2 HP.
  67. Description: A kitchen with a peculiar mix of distressingly old trash and suspiciously pristine countertops. Enigma has just turned on the lights and is opening the refrigerator.
  68. Quote: "Ahhh, safehouse sweet safehouse..." -Enigma
  69. // Enigma is going to be fairly squishy, and prone to getting hurt. The healthiest thing they can do is stay home once in a while.
  70.
  71. Unavoidable Delay (Ongoing, Qty: 2)
  72. Play this card in an Infiltrated play area. If Enigma leaves this play area, destroy this card.
  73. When the top card of this play area's deck would enter play, you may put that card on top of its deck instead. If you do, destroy this card and the Infiltrated target with the highest HP deals Enigma 2 sonic damage.
  74. Description: Enigma in a Battalion Mechanic outfit looking into an access panel on the side of a purple and silver device of some kind, where two matching wires are clearly disconnected.
  75. Quote: "Shouting won't get it ready faster, you know..." -Enigma
  76. // Stalling tactic- Buffer Overflow meets Take Down, with certain strengths and weaknesses of each. It only works on one card play instead of a full round, but you get to see the card before choosing whether to delay it.
  77.
  78.
  79. Ongoing, Limited (Qty: 8)
  80. ---
  81. Biding Time (Ongoing, Limited, Qty: 3)
  82. At the end of your turn, if Enigma dealt no damage this turn, increase the next damage dealt by Enigma by 2.
  83. Power: Enigma deals 1 target 1 melee damage. If that target is Infiltrated and still in play, move Enigma to your play area and destroy this card.
  84. Description: A Cult of Gloom ritual, with dozens of low-level cultists watching attentively while others, including the Chosen and the Acolyte, perform some magic using one of Gloomweaver's relics. We see Enigma among the closest observers, watching with a distrustful expression.
  85. Quote: "You think he's okay in there?" "He'll be back. Probably bearing gifts." -Tachyon and Expatriette
  86. // The longer you wait, the more intel you can gather. The more intel you have, the more effective you'll be when it's time to attack.
  87. // Choose your moment carefully, though. An enemy who isn't crippled by your first move will sound the alarm, and then the secret's out.
  88.
  89. Face in the Crowd (Ongoing, Limited, Qty: 3)
  90. The first time Enigma would be dealt damage each turn, if a villain deck is Infiltrated, you may redirect that damage to the non-character villain target with the lowest HP.
  91. Description: Enigma in a F.I.L.T.E.R. uniform, his back pressed to the wall next to a locked door. Through the window in the door we can see signs of a pitched battle taking place in the Block.
  92. Quote: "When the fighting starts, we won't know where you are." "Exactly." -Doctor Medico and Enigma
  93. // When you Infiltrate the villain deck, Enigma is a villain target, not a hero target. He won't get buffs from most hero healing or protection effects, and he will get hit by most hero spread-damage effects.
  94. // This makes that a lot more bearable- if there are other minions around, Enigma can avoid harm by getting lost in the shuffle.
  95.
  96. Inside Information (Ongoing, Limited, Qty: 2)
  97. At the start of the environment turn, if a non-hero deck is Infiltrated, one other player may draw or play a card.
  98. If a card is played this way, destroy this card and move Enigma to your play area.
  99. Description: Closeup of a takeout menu being held above a candle flame (visible through the paper), revealing a schematic and coordinates drawn with invisible ink. The backdrop is Nightmist's study.
  100. Quote: "We move tonight. Be ready." "Also, I'm taking orders for Thai food!" -Nightmist and Setback
  101. // Enigma can pass key intel to other heroes to let them get the drop on the villain.
  102. // Once in a while, that info is enough to give them a chance to strike when they otherwise couldn't- but leaking something that important puts Enigma at risk of discovery.
  103.
  104.
  105. One-Shot (Qty: 9)
  106. ---
  107. Accelerated Timetable (One-Shot, Qty: 2)
  108. Enigma deals each Infiltrated target 2 projectile damage and 2 fire damage. Move Enigma to your play area.
  109. If Enigma is the only hero target, he deals each villain character 2 projectile damage and 2 fire damage instead.
  110. Description: Enigma jumping out of a window as an explosion blossoms from the room behind him.
  111. Quote: "The good news is, I'm coming home early. That's also the bad news." -Enigma
  112. // Dramatic entrances are not in the espionage handbook, unless you count the section on what NOT to do. Dramatic /exits/, though...
  113.
  114. Change of Plans (One-Shot, Qty: 3)
  115. You may destroy a non-target, non-character Infiltrated card or hero card.
  116. You may put a card from a hero trash or an Infiltrated trash on top of its deck.
  117. Description: Enigma in Blade Battalion gear, rushing to Baron Blade's side carrying the Elemental Redistributor.
  118. Quote: "I said the force field, not the- Fine! Hand it over, quickly." -Baron Blade
  119. // This one's nice because it can mess with the villain or be helpful to a hero, or in the right situation, both.
  120. // I'm considering restricting it so that you can't use the two parts on different decks.
  121.
  122. Sedative Cocktail (One-Shot, Qty: 3)
  123. Enigma deals each target in an Infiltrated play area 2 toxic damage.
  124. If Enigma would be dealt damage this way, you may move him to your play area instead.
  125. If Enigma is the only hero target, he may deal 1 villain target 2 toxic damage.
  126. Reduce damage dealt by targets dealt damage this way by 1 until the start of your turn.
  127. Description: Enigma in an outfit similar to Drudge Ficko's, tipping the contents of a vial into the blood fountain at the Court of Blood.
  128. Quote: "Not exactly Mama's secret recipe, but it gets the job done." -Enigma
  129. // Another "hit yourself or draw suspicion" choice, this time for the chance to weaken the enemy before they attack.
  130.
  131.
  132. One-Shot, Identity (Qty: 8)
  133. ---
  134. "New Neighbor" (One-Shot, Identity, Qty: 2)
  135. Move Enigma to the environment play area. Enigma regains 2 HP.
  136. The next time you would draw a card, instead reveal the top card of the environment deck, then replace it.
  137. Description: Enigma in a F.I.L.T.E.R. uniform, walking into a break room in the Block. In his free hand is a beverage carrier full of coffee cups.
  138. Quote: "We can't rush in there blindly. Luckily, I know a guy on the inside." -Bunker
  139. // The Identity cards with quotes around the title are how Enigma describes his new cover identity.
  140. // In this one, he becomes familiar with the environment by posing as a member of the community. (My original idea was a survivalist, but it turns out most of SOTM's environment decks are populated areas.)
  141.
  142. "Out For Revenge" (One-Shot, Identity, Qty: 2)
  143. One hero target deals Enigma 3 melee damage. Move Enigma to the villain play area.
  144. Description: Enigma and Haka glaring at each other, Enigma dressed in a more traditional superhero outfit and rubbing his jaw with one hand. The rest of the Prime Wardens look on with a mix of shock and support for their teammate.
  145. Quote: "Agenda item: Give Aata some pointers on stage-fighting... ow..." -Enigma's notes
  146.
  147. Master of Disguise (One-Shot, Identity, Qty: 2)
  148. Select a non-Infiltrated target. Move Enigma to that target's play area. Enigma gains that target's keywords until the start of your next turn.
  149. Description: Enigma looking into a mirror. In his reflection, we see what he sees: a mix-and-match grid of possible faces.
  150. Quote: "Know him? I've seen his mind... I used to think that was the same thing." -The Visionary
  151.
  152. Team-Up (One-Shot, Identity, Qty: 2)
  153. Move Enigma to a hero play area. One hero in that play area may use a power.
  154. Description: Enigma, Unity, and Omnitron-X on a rooftop at night, looking intently down through a skylight.
  155. Quote: "Wait- what do you mean, /pretend/ we ran into each other normally?" -Unity
