The King marries the daughter of a very prominent lord who rules over most of the farmlands of the kingdom, however when the time comes to produce a child she fails to be impregnated on three accounts. The King accuses her of being barren and discards her, having his men whip her out of the capital. The queen is rescued on the road by her cousin and his fellow riders, her cousin impregnates her on the way back to her father's lands. When it is discovered she is pregnant, and upon hearing the news the queen's father declares that the King is sterile and cannot continue the line, with the queen being the rightful ruler and a new king to be appointed. War is declared between the King and his loyal vassals, and the Lord and his allies.
