  1. Hello,
  2.
  3. As a precautionary measure in light of the recent security incident [1][2], we are requiring that you regenerate your API key by 11:00 AM EDT, Thursday, April 25th, 2013.
  4.
  5. In preparation, we will have two blackout dates where the Linode API will temporarily cease to function for users who have not updated their API key:
  6.
  7. Monday, April 22nd, 2013 between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM EDT (15:00 and 17:00 UTC)
  8. Wednesday, April 24th, 2013 between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM EDT (15:00 and 17:00 UTC)
  9.
  10. During the blackout periods, all API requests using old keys will return an errorcode of '444' (KEYEXPIRED). If you update your Linode API key at any time after receiving this message, your API calls will continue without interruption during the blackout periods.
  11.
  12. You can regenerate your API key by logging in to the Linode Manager, selecting the 'My Profile' link at the top right, and clicking the 'Generate a new API password' button:

  15.
  16. We appreciate your time and understanding in this matter. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send an email to our support team at support@linode.com.
  17.
  18. Regards,
  19. The Linode Team
