- Guide - Fallout Shelter
- Below you will find few advices thanks to which you shoul start your adventure with Fallout Shelter in a proper manner. I will describe here few basic game rules, which will helps you in quick figuring our your own strategies and game styles. Remember that just like any other stratic-economical game there no one "right" way for you way of gaming. With the help of following tips you should develop your own strategy and become the best overseers :P
- Rooms
- Proper room building is a very important element of this game. You can't just throw them away withouth any plan, becuase very fastly it would bring you to chaos and slow down or even completely unallow futher vault development.
- The best aprouch to the matter is to build the same types of rooms next to each other. It will make gathering resources and assigning tasks to the citizens a bit easiser. To remain order i advise you to build rooms in following order (starting with the left): living quaters with 3 rooms of size, elevator, resources producing quater with 3 rooms of size, another elevator and another quater with 2 rooms of size.
- It's best to start building next level as soon as it's possible. Don't be too rashful though. Do not invest in another flors if they will stand empty due to you not having enough workers. When you will have 3 flors, on one of them focus on producing food, on second - water and sacrafice the third one for energy producing. You will remain order thanks to this.
- <<<IMAGE>>> Try to build like this.
- The rooms will automatically join with each other if they meet the following requirments:
- 1. They are placed next to each other.
- 2. They have same level.
- 3. The are of the same kind.
- As you can easily figure out yourself it's best to wait with room upgrades till you have three of same kind so they can merge into one big room. You can't merge cmore than 3 rooms. When we have one big room we can upgrade it as a whole thing. Don't think that you can upgrade one room then build up the same kind of room and they would merge. The following process can happen only when you upgrade new room to the level of the one standing next to it. Remember about that when planning to expand. The rooms have many advantages, the more citizens are working together, the more happy and effective they are.
- Obstacles
- Your Vault will be endangered by 3 kind of obstacles.
- *Fire
- *Radcracans
- *Outside Attack.
- The fire is easiest obstacle to beat. If Just one citizen will get close to a fire he will instanteusly grab an exxtinguisher and try to fight it off.
- To get rid of Radcracans a weapons aren't necessary but will come in very handy. The armed citizens will get rid of Radcracans much quicker than others and they won't sustain as serious injuries. It's good thing to have at least one armed citizen on each room for the possible Radcracan attack.
- The most dangerous are outside atacks. During them the raiders will try to get inside the vault, and if that's happen, they will start plundering each room. In my opinion the easiest way to handle that is to make a quater of 3 rooms placed next to vault entrance. It will make room for 6 citizens, if you give them best possible equipment they should defend the vault successfully. For even greater security place 2 guards in front of entrance.

- Population
- No citezens - no vault. You can get new ones in 3 possible ways:
- * Making them in natural way.
- * Accepting people outside the vault.
- * Getting new citizens as a quest rewards.
- It's worth to describe the first way...so if you place in same living room the citizens with opposite sex they will start getting interest in each other that will cause the pregnancy. This process will be lasting shorter if the included citizens have more charisma. Pregnancy itself last 3 hours of real time. It means you can turn game off then after 3 hours turn it on to have brand new citizen. Remember that each pregnant women will be running away from any kind of dangers so don't overextend to rapidly or you will weaken up Vault defense.
- Offcourse due to genetic and etic matters the members of same familly won't be reproducing. If you place such citizens in same room they will just talk. If you will control too many citizens it might be bit confusing to remember if they are in the same familly. Luckily you can give names to your citizens so name them in a way that will allow you to easily identify to which familly current citizen belong.

- Your Vault Citizens have SPECIAL stats, some of them ever special abilities. Be sure they are doing the best job for their capacities. Additionally in the game there are 3 kind of citizens.
- 1. Common folk - they have 12-13 random SPECIAL points.
- 2. Uncommon citizens - they have 28 points.
- 3. Legendary - they have 40 points
- I don't really have to explain you that you want 2 and 3 kind of citizens right?
- Exploration
- This is very important part of the game. If you send a citizen on the wasteland you got a chance to find extra gear or other helpful items. Make sure that your voluntier got best possible gear and big stash of stimapks, don't get lazy on that - it is really worth to make sure it's being done properly.
- If you discover that your explorer is running out of supplies or something is going wronly, order him back. When he is returning he can't be harmed.
- If you screwed up and your explorer had fallen you can wake him up by paying caps. Try to avoid that - but if it will happen, do it as it should be more profitable that not doing so.
- Quests
- You will find list of active quests in your PipBoy, they are really various. Sometimes you will be asked to: gather set amount of resources, send your cizents on the wasteland, assign job to a group of citizens, achieve certain level of hapiness, to successfully fight off a fire and so on.
- It is worth to finish up quests as you can receive caps and sometimes breakfast boxes in which you can find cool stuff - sometimes even cards with uncommmon citizens. You will finish up some of the quests withouth realising them just by finishing normal duties of being an overseer. To finish up the rest you will have to order your citizens to work on one or more of tasks. Be smart with your quests - don't try to do one hard one when you can finish up few easier ones in the same time.
- Radiation
- The lever of radiation of your citizens can be saw on their healthbars in a form of red color. In Fallout Shelter the radiated citizens can "infest" other citizens with a radiation. Let's imagine this: you send your best citizen on the wasteland, after long and perilous journey he returns to the vault, in which you happily invite him in - he brought a lot of good gear. After some time you discover that level of happyness in your vault go down and production is not efficient as before. You are discovering with fear that each of yours citizens has more red colour than green in their healthbars "Mine explorer must had get a big radiation dose and then after he returned he brought plague on other citizens" - you figure out. Unfortunelu it is too late to fight it back as you don't have enough RadAway.
- <<<IMAGE>>> Effect of Radiation.
- To prevent such terrible situation remember to always use RadAway on your returning explorer to make sure he's clear. Even use two RadAway if you have to. If you don't currently have any of those do not let your explorer in the vault till you have produced them.
