  1. World Update 1 - 1776: Europe
  2.
  3. In 1776, the US government's official world analysis is released to public records. It covers Diplomatic, Political, and Military matters of many of the world's nations. It also includes maps of various filters. This is what its European section reads.
  4.
  5. Europe
  6.
  7. In Europe, several new nations have emerged, since the 15th century, as great powers (powers that significantly influence the world).
  8.
  9. The Empire of Britain
  10.
  11. The nation that recently sustained the loss of its largest and most prosperous colony has rallied itself after annexing its union partner Denmark. The large nation now controls entering and exiting the Baltic sea. Brittany remains under the Empire, but it is now a march, and has helped in its master's recent reconquest of Normandy. The only other European ally the Empire has is Aquitaine. Delhi is still an ally to Britain and is currently assisting in Britain's renewed invasion of India. Currently, Emperor Bruceham I de Gael is on the throne, with his son James as heir. Militarily, Britain is 3rd in the world with the 3rd largest army (150 thousand) and the largest navy (279 ships).
  12.
  13. Sweden
  14.
  15. This nation had been conquered by Norge and Denmark years before it reemerged. Now, it controls most of Sweden and all of Norway, splitting Finland with Russia. But it is unlikely to go to war over Finland in the future, since Sweden and Russia are allies. King Erik XIV Aba currently holds the crown, same dynasty as the ruler of Volhynia. The army of Sweden is rather weak, with only 40 thousand troops, but its navy is fairly impressive with 79 ships.
  16.
  17. Norge
  18.
  19. This once powerful Scandinavian Kingdom is now limited entirely to Iceland after the insurgence of Sweden. Norge no longer holds any colonies since the loss of Caribbien (Haiti). Its only ally is the small island of Gotland. The current king is Caesar Hakon It has one of the weakest militaries in Europe.
  20.
  21. Lotharingia
  22.
  23. Lotharingia spent the 15th to the 17th centuries under Poland, which meant little expansion of its own. Since the fall of Poland to Lithuania, Lotharingia has expanded rapidly, taking many Brandenburgian provinces and becoming second most powerful nation in Europe behind Carinthia. It is allied with Carinthia, their liberators Lithuania, and Provence. Anselm I von Baden leads the nation, and its military is the second most advanced in the world with 139 thousand troops but only 42 ships.
  24.
  25. Carinthia
  26.
  27. Carinthia has had momentous conquests for centuries, slowly growing outward with little to no losses of land. It leads a personal union with Hungary, and is in a tripact with Lotharingia and Lithuania. Gotzelo von Habsburg rules Carinthia and Hungary, his brother and cousin rule Lithuania and Estonia respectively, making the Habsburgs the most powerful family in the world. It fields the largest army in the world at 210 thousand men.
  28.
  29. Brandenburg
  30.
  31. It was once the primary power of Northern Germany. Now, the Carinthian and Lotharingian tag-team have reduced the nation to mostly the northeast of Germany. It has the citystates of Friesland and Brunswick as vassals, and is allied with Picardy and Eretna. Led by Queen Hemma von Oldenburg, Brandenburg's military is very weak, at 50 thousand troops.
  32.
  33. Picardy
  34.
  35. Lotharingia has been taking eastern provinces from Picardy since its independence. Now Picardy, which became a powerful nation so suddenly and so brutally, is a secondary power. Its king is Louis V de Bissy, cousin of Russian Tsar Pyotr III. It still possesses an impressive 67 thousand man army.
  36.
  37. Teutonic Order
  38.
  39. The Teutons have, for the most part, stayed out of European matters for a while. Right now it is worried about its war with the colonies. However, it is allied to the Russian Empire to the east, meaning very few European powers would ever mess with it. Arnault von Assel is on the throne. Its army is no longer at a very high level for the nation's size (80 thousand troops), but its navy is still the second most powerful in the world (155 ships).
  40.
  41. Castile
  42.
  43. Castile has also been mostly out of European affairs. However, it is still an ally with Carinthia and Andalusia (which explains why Andalusia is still independent). It continues to control Jerusalem. Its queen is Friedrica II de Trastamara. Its army is little more than 30 thousand men, smaller than its Colombian colony.
  44.
  45. Aquitaine
  46.
  47. The former great power is no longer European. In 1763, another Carinthia invasion forced the refounding of Provence, and Aquitaine lost all of its European provinces. It is now an entirely colonial nation, even retaining lordship over Mexique. A de Gael continues to rule the nation.
  48.
  49. Galicia
  50.
  51. Galicia is now a citystate of Oporto. It is entirely at the mercy of Castile and is only allied with Aquitaine and Tunis. De Gaels continue to rule the nation, this time Queen Tegla de Gael.
  52.
  53. Hungary
  54.
  55. Second in number of provinces to Russia, the nation has lost its membership in great powers of Europe since its union with Carinthia. It now fields an incredibly weak army and political system.
  56.
  57. Lithuania
  58.
  59. The Baltic power, once so small, has carved out an area of former Poland as a kingdom. It is now larger than Brandenburg. It is allied with Estonia, Lotharingia, and Carinthia. Its von Habsburg ruler brings Lithuania, Carinthia, and Estonia into closer ties with each other. It has a rather small army of 48 thousand troops and an even smaller navy of 29 ships.
  60.
  61. Estonia
  62.
  63. This nation reemerged from ashes after its conquest centuries ago. In the last century, it won a major war against Russia and took several provinces. It is allied only with Lithuania. It is also ruled by a Habsburg. Its military is one of the weakest in Europe, but Lithuania helps protect the small duchy from Russian invasion.
  64.
  65. Russia
  66.
  67. Russia is the largest nation in the world by land. Nearly everything east of Lithuania is Russia. It is allied with Gotland (strangely enough), The Teutonic Order, and Sweden. Its Tsar Pyotr III de Bissy is cousin to the Picardian king. Its army is the second largest in the world behind Carinthia, with 170 thousand troops. It has little navy to speak of. Far to the east, Russian colonists have just reached the Pacific.
  68.
  69. Eretna
  70.
  71. Eretna had rebelled from Turkestan in the mid 15th century. It is now the bridge between the Muslim world and Europe, the most religiously diverse nation on earth. Most of its Greek population, which live in Greece and southern Anatolia, are Protestants, while a small percentage are Orthodox (the last on earth), and few even Coptic. The rest of the population is Sunni Muslim. Its allies are Brandenburg, Yedi, The Knights, and Kilwa.
  72.
  73. Byzantium
  74.
  75. Rome still stands, just not as tall as before. It now occupies only Cyprus and Rhodes, two islands in the eastern Mediterranean. It continues to call itself Rome, Cyprus as the Third Rome, but its standings in the world no longer reflect this. Its only ally is Tunis. The crown is with Tiberios Lazaros.
  76.
  77. Crete
  78.
  79. Just to the west of new Rome is the independent island of Crete. The island has been independent for over 300 years, and not a single successful invasion has happened in that time. Its only ally is Castile.
